Vivian is the bullied youngest sibling of three...shade spirits or something (I legit forget) who is initially your enemy. Bedlam (the blue hat old crone) constantly blames Vivian for everything (including losing a map that Bedlam had shoved into her own back pocket, then still blames Vivian for not telling Bedlam she put the map there, despite Vivian protesting Bedlam never even trusted her with the map to begin with) but over the course of Chapter 4 specifically she becomes the next partner Mario has. Her gimmick outside of combat is that she can yank Mario into the ground and hide from enemies.

Bedlam is actually one of the most important characters, ironically enough, given the reveal right before the final boss that she (and by proxy the other two sisters she bosses around) actually manipulated the X-Nauts (main villain group of the game) and almost certainly is the hooded figure that gives Peach the map which leads to the Thousand Year Door and the Crystal Stars in the first place. All to resurrect her true master the Shadow Queen. Vivian, despite having been part of this whole plan from the get-go, never mentions ANY OF THIS.
Vivian is arguably the best character to fight the final boss with due to her ability to cast burn AND hide Mario from attacks. There's a reason people like her beyond the whole trans thing.

WARNING: SUPER AUTISTIC RANT COMING UP
I already had very mixed feelings that the new season of the Fraggle Rock reboot had Pogey come out as using they pronouns earlier this year...I didn't mind the gender flipped Doc or the redesigned Mokey, but non-binary fraggles are something else. Thank god they used a character who never appeared on the original show. Oh well, at least Junior Gorg is going to have a new little brother or sister if the show gets a third season, that's something I've always wanted to see...but I'm getting tired of them tainting our childhoods with this kind of stuff. Even if it's closer to the Japanese making Vivian trans is something that's clearly being done for the purpose of unnecessary wokeness and it's not the Vivian I have nostalgic memories of...at least if it's just that one line it will be easy to pretend she's saying something else...if she said something like "it took me a while to realize who I was" or something like that it could be interpreted both ways and everyone would be happy, or at least they should be

I just remembered the crows from chapter 4, does anyone know whether their dialogue has been changed yet?
I thought they were amusing originally but I can see the updated script making them obnoxious, given that the whole joke with them was that they're talking about current innovations and changes.

I remember this plot hole occasionally being brought up and a common theory is that Vivian is just by far the youngest member to the point of not knowing the Shadow Queen directly.
You could argue that Vivian is only blindly going along with the plan through peer pressure.

I haven't played a paper mario game in my life, I just find all the people who are acting like Vivian being trans is the equivalent to the second coming of christ to be annoying as hell.

Was Vivian even trans in the original game or was he just a effeminate guy?
Best description I can come up with is "gender-confused effeminate guy." This is a trope in Japanese media. It's seen as childish and sort of silly-cute. It's not intended to be woke or to promote western style tranny ideology. The exact same kind of character exists in the VN/anime Steins;Gate for example, where
this character even gets to become a real girl in an alternate timeline but agrees to be turned back to a guy because it's necessary for the world to be saved and he admits he isn't happy as a girl anyway.

In other words, GUHHHH

Vivian, despite having been part of this whole plan from the get-go, never mentions ANY OF THIS.
I vaguely recall Beldam having some dialogue to explain this, I think she never told Vivian anything about the plan because she thought she was a liability and didn't trust her. Rightfully so, seeing as Vivian joined Mario in the end.
It's possible I'm making this shit up and it never actually happened but hey, it would still make sense to explain the plot hole.

Remakefags get what they fucking deserve

(I do not condone the mutts-law in this meme, but I agree with it's message)

Was the character a butt of a joke, in which case, its funnier if they are a troon, or has the re-translation included some whiney woke messages about inclusion and authentic self bullshit?
In the original Japanese script, it's basically a gag through juxtaposition. You have these three enemies, two are ugly, wicked, witchy women. Then there's the youngest, who's kind-hearted, cute, and eventually decides to join up and help you... but he's actually a guy. It's the kind of thing that only works in that particular cultural framing (you could probably tie it into kabuki with the whole game's theming as being on a stage in front of an audience.) So the original English localization just simplified it (intelligently) into Vivian being a girl, and the gag being that she's obviously the cutest of the three, but gets picked on for being "ugly."

Now the contemporary localization has this whole thing reframed as being some "I was a boy, but actually I'm a girl!" transgender junk and that being the impetus for the bullying, which is basically a total reversal of the character's original write-up. People will say, "Isn't that more accurate to the Japnese script?" but it's not. It was never that Vivian was born one way and felt he was actually something else. It was him trying to fit in with his sisters and then getting lambasted for it because he was so different from them by virtue of being good.

This really isn't a big deal and the tantrum you're all throwing over it is exactly what they want, they want to be able to point it out to normies and make you look unreasonable.
Bro who cares if "every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered" lol just chill bro...

Seriously who cares if "the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute, history has stopped, and nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right"? C'mon bro it's just a game, show, movie, book, statue, street, and society being pozzed forever, relax bro...

It's one thing when Western developers make "inclusive" slop, it's another when you have talentless hacks hijacking foreign products and injecting them with ideological bullshit for self-gratification when there was none to begin with. Makes me way angrier, personally.
Because in principle, we're supposed to have free market where you're able to choose and support products based on what they're offering, but what was once a viable option is now subverted and essentially taken away. In the end, it's harming original creators, all because of some tranny's ego.
It's always the lowest skill jobs in the industry too, from HR to community management and localization. They want to be "seen" but have fuck all to show for it.

All that said, fuck Nintendo and Nintendo fans, always had inexplicable hatred toward them

Yeah, Shadow Queen was when I learned the power of non-attack moves and moreover how to abuse damage-over-time tactics.

While I agree that it makes sense Bedlam never told Vivian the full scope of the plan, maybe it just plays into Vivian being a bit of a ditz (because she is, frankly) that she didn't even notice Bedlam was manipulating events.

Fuck you, I played the 2004 version and want to play it again with better graphics. If I can't beat up nigger goombas hitting on my side piece Goombette then what's the fucking point.
Hopefully it won't be too hard to download a mod that fixes the dialogue to be back to the 2004 script.

They don't do this in the middle east.

Protip for gamers: Consider terrorism
Reminds me of the 'mod' for the Miles Morales Spiderman game that got trannies so buttmad over replacing the trans flag on one building. Completely ignoring the fact that the replacement flag was the American flag (because IT'S FUCKING NEW YORK) and moreover was in the game by default. All the mod did was trigger an internal region detection flag that disabled the trans flags so the game could be sold in countries where troons are not favorably looked upon.

>only new decent content seems to be a boss fight against prince mush and whacka
Jesus fuck, the idea of a remake originally was add more shit that got axed due to time/budget/retardation, not make everything worse but add a single decent thing so retards eat the demake slop
Why make something new when you can just add a few upscales and filters and call it a day?

At this rate. I wouldn’t be shocked if Nintendo of America hires from adult Diapers forums.
Aren't you glad this crossdressing faggot is localizing games targetted torwards kids? It's the CURRENT YEAR!
