I think deep down, a lot of people here already knew a long time ago that there was child neglecting going on. Mainly because we heard already how Aaron had to feed them canned goods because Nick and Kayla didn't do it themselves.

But there's something about seeing it on an official incident report, confirming that yes, it's all real, it hits differently.

My first thought is that maybe Nick and/or Kayla actually hurt one of the kids for real, to the point they needed to go to the ER, and the person who reported it was a doctor or CRNP. Perhaps a doctor noticed signs of abuse during a routine appointment.

But if that was the case they would've gotten child abuse charges....unless those will be tacked on later. They would probably want a more in-depth investigation for that.

It was a mandatory reporter, so undoubtedly a kid mentioned something to an adult with a legal obligation to report. Based on the timeline, the report coming on the 16th and the kids going to church the 15th it makes sense to be someone from church.

Other than Nick's online following Church staff must have had the best window into the disintegration of the Rekieta family. There's probably a stark difference between the general constitution of TradLARPer Nick's kids and sonichu demon posessed Nick's kids, and it's possible that some youth pastor had been harboring suspicions of abuse for some time now.
Come to think of it, what if Nick's many "hehe priests rape kids" jokes are just his seething response to a clergy member who confronted him about the state of his kids?

these kids dont go to school, they go to homeschool cooperative meetings held at the homes of other families from the area
maybe one of the parents at those meetings called the cops because the rekieta kids came in smelling of weed

Someone who he sees as lesser to himself (which seems to be everyone besides Dick Masterson) tries to tell him to do something. Nick, being the spoiled child that he is, doesn't like being told what to do. So instead of respecting the boundary Aaron tries to set and not bring drugs into his home, he brings even more drugs and starts doing them all over the house without asking.

Nick is 100% the sort of person that if he was told not to bring drugs into someones house would bring an entire lockbox full next time and start doing bumps all over the house just out of spite.
He has the petty toddler version of Oppositional Defiant Disorder, where most people with that are able to modify their behavior by the time they reach adulthood, Nick is the sort of spoiled trust fund brat that leans into his worst instincts because lolbertarian why should I do what you tell me.

edit: I was looking at the wrong thing, he wasn't on the list to appear before the judge. I was skimming through the thread and mistook that list for a list of those in jail.
