So, what happened? How did Nick lose his status as a nexus of common sense, decency, and fairness, to the unrecognizable husk of the man he is now? I still think Vic's absurd court losses changed Nick in dark ways and created a schism between he and Ty Beard, but it wouldn't explain the current depth of degeneracy.

And for those who maintain that Nick was always like this and destined to end-up in a ditch somewhere, I just can't believe that. Maybe I'M being the village idiot, but I remember when Nick's career was firing on all cylinders. To have everything just disintegrate in a scant three or four years is beyond disheartening, especially when you factor in his five kids.

The life that people present outwardly on the Internet is not at all everything about them or truly representative of their character. Everyone is going to try to paint themselves in the best light possible on social media, people only show their best moments and keep everything else closely guarded, generally speaking. My guess would be that Nicky was already into all of the degeneracy long before it started leaking out into his streams and becoming obvious to everyone.

I don't think that people just suddenly acquire interests like swinging and illegal drugs out of nowhere in their mid 40s with a family, he probably always wanted to do stuff like that but the constraints of living a normie life kept it from becoming a problem. Once he became Internet famous and got rich off superberries it went to his head, he felt untouchable, and those urges he always had became enabled. He got hooked on drugs, he already had a problem with alcohol as he was already drinking on every stream even back when he was respected (I remember his intro initially was a montage of him drinking whiskey), and with his already prideful nature things took their natural course from there.

Another thing to remember about heavy alcohol consumption is it puts you on a timer. Some people can be "functional" alcoholics for a while, and how long that is depends on the individual, some people can hold it together for longer than others. But if you're drinking every day, it will start shitting your life up, sooner or later. It's just a matter of how long it takes to start becoming a serious problem. So Nick was able to maintain his image for a while but he was already on that timer, what we witnessed was just the consequences of its inevitable countdown.

I think this is what sets Nick apart from most cows, in that he was relatively well liked not even that long ago, to being a totally irredeemable degenerate in less than 2 years.
