On topic of Paleotube
Man, a side project put Dinotube on my feed. I like them, mostly, but holy shit someone needs to make some new media for these guys. They are starving.

Anyway, I don't know where else to do this so I'm going to schizo post about a YouTuber here.

Ahoy is a popular (1.8m subs) Australian video game youtuber who likes to cover early video history and technology. His videos are well produced, digestible, and usually short (unless he's talking about 16 bit sound chips). He's most known for his Iconic Arms series, 15 minute videos on popular firearms that give an overview of the real life history of the subject before exploring how it is portrayed in video games and films. They're quite neat. The first video was ten years ago and the series, along with Ahoy's content, began to dry up around three years ago. I assume he just moved on to other things. 7 years is a long time to keep that going. But on February 24th, 2023, Iconic Arms returned from the void with a video on the Barrett series of .50 caliber rifles. Content creator returning to his hobby after a long break to recharge? Or paid shill for the shadowy Ozzie Military Industrial Complex?

With the US Military moving on to long range rifles firing rounds actually meant for human sized targets at long range and the Australian military revamping their military to focus on domestic production (Including the Barrett), Barrett Firearms would be acquired by Australian defense conglomerate NIOA. On January 17th, 2023. A mere month before the Barrett video dropped.

Despite covering the history of Barrett Firearms, Ahoy makes no mention of it's acquisition by his country. Doesn't sound like something a VB swigging patriot would omit. If the scripting and voice over was done before the sale was announced, one must ask 'Why bring IA back from the grave now?'. Sure it could be a massive coincidence.. or was he ordered to have that video ready by his masters at Upside Down Langley or where ever Ozzie intelligence works?

He sounds more like a pommie than a roofucker. Are you sure he is a jafa?
I'm not sure about what any of that means, but I'm pretty sure he mentioned being Australian in his Steyr AUG video. It's been ten years or so, but who let's research get in the way of funposting?

I'm pretty sure he sounds British and has his location set as Manchester, United Kingdom. AUG is Austrian btw, not Australian.

There is the Austeyr, the variant of the AUG adopted by the Australian Defense Force. Because, you know, shit wasn't confusing enough as it was.

Well than disregard, I suck cocks. But yeah the AUG was adopted with some modification by the Australians. And worst of all, Austyer isn't a nick name from the troopers. It's official designation is F88 Austeyr. Throw it in the pile of confusing commonwealth designations. The EF88 version finally took NATO 5.56.. in 2011

Only people who end up in teaching positions are ideologues
Fucking a.

Last history class I took was a basic western art history class. The teacher while passionate about art history, was just as passionate about endlessly interjecting retarded leftist politics into his class. Honest to god 1/4 of the class was his ramblings stereotypical reddit tier soy takes on anything and everything.

This guy literally said near word for word a big reason why the middle east is so mad at the west today is because of how Europeans plundered the art and cultural artifacts of ancient egypt/mesopotamia etc. One example being a ancient egyptian obelisk that now stands at the Vatican. "They remember that kind of thing and tell their children".

The absolute worst was when he was talking about how Christians desecrated mosques in Spain during Reconqista. Went on and on how horrible it was for Christians to do terrible things to Muslims. Of course he covered the Hagia Sophia and when asked isnt that the Muslims doing the exact samething he was endlessly ranting about in Spain he just hand waved it as if the Hagia Sophia appeared into existence after the Ottomans wiped the Byzantines off the planet.
Much needed space shuttle good actually, video.
Space Shuttle was easily one of the dumbest things humans have ever done in the history of our race. You cant put into words how much it set back our species and advancing beyond this world.

What was so bad about it?
You cant adequately put it into words but Ill try and summarize;

1) The basic design was not only incredibly complex(aka expensive) which not only prevent basic safety features like escape capsules but also exposed it to dangerous(falling insulation/derbies) no other rocket design up to that point had to deal. End result was the complete destruction of two orbiters and its crews.

2) The shuttle was reusable in name only. Reality is it required a massive logistics/support system which dwarfed any cost savings by reusing the SRBs and orbiter. You had to have a few ships, trained crews/divers to recover the SRBs. You had to have two specifically modified 747s to ferry the orbiter around. You had to have agreements(aka bribes) with a number of countries around the world to support contingency operations. The orbiter itself practically required factory refurbishment after every landing as its engines, thermal protection system and other key systems where so maintenance intensive.

3) That massive wing and thermal protection system where completely useless in space. That combined with the fact the orbiter didnt carry any fuel aside from what was needed to deorbit meant it was never capable of doing anything beyond LEO. Theres no other way to put it other than unless your goal was to bring a satellite down from orbit it was simply a fucking retarded design. For doing anything else in space the Shuttle was just fucking dumb.

4) The payload capacity both in terms of payload size(compare the interior of skylab to the ISS) and weight was an incredible stepdown from the Saturn V. Saturn Vs could put 140 tons into LEO. The Shuttle could put about 30 tons.

5) The worst, absolute worst aspect is that it cost exactly the same as the Saturn V overall. We canceled a proven, heavy lift design that could take us to the moon for something that cost just as much yet lifted 1/4 as much and couldnt do anything beyond LEO.

When the moon race was in its heyday the idea by those in charge at the time was to use Saturn Vs to build a spacecraft that would be powered by nuclear rockets(lets not talk about how retarded it was to cancel that) to go to Mars after the Moon. Something that would have easily been done in a handful of Saturn V launches. Imagine the world we'd live in if we had 100+ Saturn V launches over the past 50 years.

Like I said, you cant adequetely put into words how much the Space Shuttle set humanity back.

Man, liberals really love painting the Muslims as this "noble savage" type.

The guy was a stereotype of limousine liberal.

Slight power level but the guy came from a well off family and was teaching at a cc that half the students came from the poorer, more diverse side of town. When describing why he gave the assignment to go examine some art exhibit he said it was all about expanding the horizons of us "south side kids". He ended up giving me a bad grade on a final assignment because I called out his liberal retardation lawl. My first lesson in what happens when you confront the stupidity of teachers and those in charge.

While we're on the STS, the Algorithm sent me this. A oil/gas engineer sperging about engines and SRBs for an hour.

Edit: imo shooting a plane into LEO and setting a landing slope from fucking space to touch down on a lake bed at White Sands is fuckin neato.

Double edit: Goddamn it, that's the video that kicked off the discussion. Fuck it, I'm leaving my shame up.
