Unless said people planted coke in his house, prevented his kids from eating, etc, its irrelevant. If someone did have animus against him then they struck gold. If he wasn't a bad dad then nothing would have happened as a result of the police visit and warrant search.

this might well be true, i don't doubt that there are people in his community who have a bone to pick with him
but again, this would only be a convincing argument if the cops had come out empty handed, with nothing to show but empty whiskey bottles and a dirty house.
however that's not what happened. he actually had large quantities of multiple hard drugs along with firearms. at this point it doesn't matter if the people who ratted on him were driven by malicious intent rather than genuine concern, because they turned out to be right either way.

It's interesting how normal people figure this out without knowing they figured it out. It's just a natural progression. I'll give you an example.

How many times have you had this exact conversation:

You're talking to a friend about your shared or parallel early adulthood debauchery, be it senior year of high school, your college or university years, or your first years out on your own, and one or both of you say "yeah, but then I had a kid/started having kids/got married and had kids/now I've got a kid/s and I just don't have time for any of that anymore."

I wouldn't have enough fingers and toes to count the number of times I've had this conversation even if I took my shoes and socks off, and that's because, on a core level, without even really thinking about it, every responsible adult out there knows that when you have a child to take care of, it's time to buckle down and get serious. There's simply no more time for getting blackout blasted out of your gourd on uppers and booze.
