I looked up his socialblade and 161k subs came from the Rittenhouse trial and and 88k from Depp, thats around 250k (over half) of his channel subs that either showed up for the event or showed up for trial streams, the people who were there for the event would have got bored and stopped watching when the event ended and the people there for the trials would have tuned out or gone to another streamer when Nick stopped doing trials. The other Half of his audience (from before the trials) were there to watch him alog lolcows.
Whether it was mocking lolcows, specific trial streams, or trial streams in general, Nick no longer caters to ANY of his audience.

I think this is a function of the need to change your mindset from being a degenerate who's obsessed with drugs and alcohol, to somebody who no longer uses drugs and alcohol yet remains obsessed by them.

It's also a grift. People who stop using will often need a new grift. I used to think it was hilarious/irritating in equal measure. These days, I'm more sympathetic. It's a coping strategy to get people through that difficult early recovery. Most of them will grow out of it and return to normal. But the ones that don't tend to be insufferable.
