PS4 is outselling the PS5 because A, the PS5 is expensive with gimmick accessories, B, there's no games to justify the purchase, C, the PS4 has a larger player base. Even so, their PS5 exclusives will come to PC eventually. The PS5 is a vanity item at this point for consumers. Sony has turned the PS5 into a soapbox with their draconian decisions to isolate their player base for politics.

Whats with japs and losing the source code to some of their most iconic games? This shit feels like its half the reason we dont get remasters or ports of some iconic jap titles because a bunch of japs threw the source code away in the trash.
They had zero foresight, and it was pretty common unfortunately. Nintendo is one of the few who seemed pretty good about preservation, but I doubt they keep the obscure shit like Satellaview. There's tons of lost gaming media because of this probably.

I get seething mad at this shit and how it gets glorified. I got a family member who has it, he is a good-looking guy and this shit destroyed part of his confidence when it set on in his early 20's. He told me how he hates it when he talks to people and sees their eyes darting towards the spots. GTA6 moving PS5 consoles is pure cope. They expect people will buy a £450 PS5 and a £70+ and £80/year subscription just to play the latest niggerslop? It ain't happening.
I think you underestimate the consoomer crowd. Normalfags who want the hot new thing so they can say they bought the hot new thing even if they are not generally interested in thing have reached into video game territory long ago, i'd argue that this plays a huge role in the PS5 moving any units already. GTA6 will also have an insane marketing budget so it might very well help in saving Sony's ass this console generation. I can at least somewhat realistically see it.
 
GTA 5 has a thriving modding community on PC.
If it fails it will be because it was too expensive to make or has a Cyberpunk tier launch. Another thing is the install base is lower this gen, there's just less people to sell to.
This just makes the decision to not release on PC day and date with the other versions all the more baffling. There's literally no reason not to do it and Rockstar is leaving money on the table by not doing it. You could even argue that, if GTA VI is as expensive to produce as rumored, its outright financially negligent not to have a PC version ready to go. Its the biggest red mark against the game and biggest thing working against it. It literally makes no sense from a financial standpoint.

GTA 6 simply won't work with a female protagonist. A second support character, maybe, but NOT the main fucking lead.
GTA can work with female protagonist. It would actually be a nice change of pace. Now, could it work in this political climate? It will be very, very hard, and would take good writers who know to not make her a parody of herself and fall into the trap of the generic "strong girlboss who don't need no man" role. Old Rockstar, pre-GTAO could do it. Can current Rockstar do it? Its doubtful.

Switch players are a strange breed so who knows what could be gained there.
Any Switch players will probably just wait till the Switch 2 comes out and see if it gets a version of the game for itself.

Can it happen? Its possible. Will it happen? Not likely. It is very rare for a single game to move consoles on its own. And its usually with new consoles and exclusive launch games (think Super Mario 64 and Wii Sports; unsurprisingly, only Nintendo seem to do it consistently). The PS5 is a mature system, and anyone who wanted one has probably already gotten one. The game is also coming out on Xbox, which will weaken any sales potential it has on PS5, PC gamers will just wait for the inevitable PC version, and Switch owners will, as I've said, wait to see if Switch 2 gets a version. I believe the console sales bump in America and Europe will be muted, and it won't do anything for the console in Japan.

Oh sure, i agree, but it will give Sony and PS5 sales a push which they absolutely don't deserve. We'll see, normies is mad for GTA. I never liked the games much apart from the PS1 titles, it's a whole big world with nothing much in it every game. I like the way the RGG games do it much better, with small, condensed worlds with almost too much to do (looking at Y8 here, which i still haven't finished) instead of the quasi Make-your-own-entertainment sandboxes of modern GTA games.

R* earned so much cash from double, triple and quadruple dippers that they can release on console, where FOMO will make pc players play it on console first. Then, a year or so later, release it on PC with season 1 DLC. Then, 2-3 years after launch, they can sell a GOTY edition to console and PC players. Next gen they can remake it, or remaster it.

Kingdom Come Deliverance devs have said that the series s' low RAM has forced them to scale back the size of the game. If that's true, GTA6 will probably release a slimmed down version on console, with added content on PC, and remaster versions on Pro/next gen consoles. The whole thing will be a shit show either way.

They used to and probably still do destroy their gold masters after a relatively short time for some reason, they do this with vidya as well as anime. Nips being nips.

Edit: As an example, because of this practice the brunt of the earliest episodes of Sazae-san, the longest running anime in history (starting in 1969, the manga in 19motherfucking46, over 7000 episodes), only exist on old VHS tapes in some otaku's basement Scratch that, VHS came out in 1976 in Japan, those episodes are lost media. I really have no idea what's the motive behind destroying the source of beloved media.

Funny enough, I've come to two completely opposite conclusions on this.

Either the Japanese view video games as product and not art, and thus do not believe source code is worth preserving. Or the view the finished product as "art" and not product, so they have no intention of ever selling "reproductions" (or re-releases) down the line.

Personally, I think it's the former, but both ideas intrigue me.

I know that in the case of Konami, the cause is usually hard drive failure. That doesn't make it acceptable, but does explain it happening out of negligence rather than malice.

I actually managed to flag down one of the devs behind Harmony of Despair (the fun/silly multiplayer one on XBOX 360 and PS3), and they essentially told me that the reason you're never going to see a "proper" release of Symphony of the Night (I.E. including all the new content the Saturn version had, the old Richter sprite with the tailcoat, the new animations for Alucard, the new castle zones, etc) is that they lost the files used for that shit back in like 2001 due to a massive computer failure. The devs behind Castlevania X Chronicles (the PSP port on which all HD versions of SOTN are now based) wanted to include all that shit to make the definitive version of SOTN, but no one at Konami had the files and extracting the data manually would have taken like two years, because they would have had to do what Bluepoint does and reverse-engineer that shit.

In the end, the only extra they could add aside from the new script and redone castle layout was extract Maria and make her playable.

That shit is also why Harmony of Despair had such a troubled development. They wanted to include Trevor Belmont, Hammer, and like half a dozen other characters, but couldn't get the data extracted or completed in time. Voice barks actually exist for those characters in-game as well as responses by the other characters! Trevor was going to used a recolored Old Richter sprite, but they couldn't get it working. Hammer only had half a sprite-sheet in Dawn of Sorrow, one of the few games they had Archive data for, and there wasn't time to complete it from scratch. A lot of the things they wanted to do they couldn't because Konami lost the source files for basically all of them. The reason the last two maps before the retro stages were from SOTN is because the team behind CVXC held onto their work from porting Maria and basically handed it to the HOD devs going: "Uhhhh.... Here ya go."

As much as I appreciate what Miyamoto and Anouma have done for video games and given me some of my favorite franchises ever, I really can't wait for them to retire and no longer have influence on projects anymore. Just gotta hope they haven't seeded their gaming philosophies too much around Nintendo...
