Eminem Griefing Thread - Awfully hot coffee pot guy

  • 🔧 Actively working on site again.
This might be his best song in a long time, at least since Recovery, but that's not really saying much. I feel like he's lost all of his bite for at least a decade now. What makes this particular record sound strange is that superficially it is somewhat of a return to the old form but it feels very "radio-friendly" edgy. Like South Park or something.

that shot of young eminem walking out the doctor strange portal is one of the most unintentionally hilarious things ive seen all year. the fact culture has become so homogenous to the point we have enter the shadyverse is bizarre to me
Why do people always spell it 'griefing'?
I think of Griefing threads and Grieving threads as different. I view Griefing threads as making fun of something past its prime, like you are "griefing" Eminem, whereas a Grieving thread is being bummed it used to be something great

eminem is depressing. at his peak he was the hottest shit in the world but he's never been able to expand creatively other than making shitty trap. These days you see other rappers his age branching out into other genres or even acting, yet here em is, regurgitating his old themes and trying to recapture his youth deep into 2024. in his prime, his lyrics actually had some pretty clever jokes, but he's so focused on being a "great rapper" that he just writes a mishmash of complicated rhyming nonsense that says absolutely nothing. The most noteworthy line in this new song is just him begging some other rapper for a collab.
It's a shame, because from the little acting he did, Eminem clearly had talent for it.

It’s frustrating still seeing Eminem trying to be relevant and the music industry still celebrating him. Every time I see him I wish he’d just go away.

I think one of the reasons he has gone downhill is because he didn’t mature as an artist. When he got famous he was making music with themes similar to Linkin Park and Blink-182, which appealed to edgelord teens raging at the adults around them. But that trend died, partly because the teens grew up, and most of these musicians became irrelevant. But Eminem continued to always make the same kind of music, and because he was promoted as the best by the media, he always got a new group of teens to listen to him.

But now he just can’t do it anymore. It’s not cool seeing the bloated, middle-aged Eminem trying to relive his peak years. His rhymes are a bunch of dad jokes and rhyming random words. And even though he hates mumble rap, he still makes mumble rap songs and collaborates with mumble rappers.

Eminem still has a fandom, which I consider to be part of the reason he hasn’t improved. The fandom, most of whom are millennial and zoomer manchildren, always go on about how much modern music sucks, and how much better Eminem is than them. They never point out the obvious problems with his music, and any criticism is pushed aside. Em can’t take criticism either, and so after Revival got a lot of bad reception, he went into a rage for years, posting album after album about how he was “such a good rapper”. I’m not sure if he’s still upset about the criticism, but it went to show how much of a hug box Em had.

Eminem’s career as a rapper is dead. The only thing for him to do is quit and do something else for once. Like why can’t he become a comic book artist as that was his original career pursuit? If you can’t do it anymore, then stop.

I’m reposting these lyrics from this video:

Don’t make me wake Slim Shady
He don’t want my Number 2
Quit lyin B Rabbit
Why you always make me out lyric you
How could you leave me
And drop the death of Slim Shady out of the blue
Out of the blue
Oh what’s the matter Marshal?
You didn’t think this was something I’d do?
Too bad Eminem you’re finally
Gonna hear this rhyme
At first I’m alike
Alright you wanna go back and visit your prime
That’s fine
But not for you to murder slim shady
Are you out of your mind?!
This CD, this autographed Shady poster
It’s all mine!
How could you wake up and get out of bed
Look EMINEM
LOOK AT STAN NOW
I SAID LOOK AT HIM
I’m not waiting in the blistering cold anymore am I
Who woulda thunk
That I’d actually give a—-
Come one Marshall we’re goin for a ride
Sit up front
We’ll be back
Well actually you’ll be in the trunk

Soooo long
Marshall you did me sooo wrong

Eminem appeared in a documentary series called Fight The Power, a hip-hop documentary on PBS (The docuseries was more like an NPC’s guide to the history of conscious hip-hop). He talked about his song “White America” and about the Trump diss in the car parking lot. Seeing him in such an accessible docuseries should be enough for anybody to know how much he has sold out.

Clips of Eminem from the documentary:

I don't get the praise for that Houdini track. The beat does nothing for me and that flow he's been using since MMLP2 was never good.

Anyway, fuck him. I could go on for hours as to why but I wouldn't be bringing anything new to the table. With that said, he's still the GOAT because his stuff up through Relapse was so good it would take another 100 years of his modern style shit to cancel it out.

music is for the young. in terms of cultural relevance, once you hit 30, it is all down hill from here. taylor swift is 34 appears to still have rising popularity but it will go away in her late 30s. i can't think of a band or performer or rapper who stayed relevant past 40.

the rolling stones are still putting out albums to this day. did anyone notice? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hackney_Diamonds
Paul McCartney is still around. Though to be fair his solo career sucked.

Eminem is releasing a new album tonight, which may or may not be good:

IMG_0361.jpeg

He’s going to kill off his Slim Shady personality entirely, and he made two songs that have been popular on the Trending page for YouTube

The album will have 19 songs on it, and even Dr. Dre and 50 Cent will make appearances for it.

Guilty Conscience 2 was pretty good, mostly because he let Slim actually be Slim and say the no-no words effortlessly, but then has to be a good boy and kill Slim off, in the name of everyone he bashed (Limp Bizkit, MGK, Mariah Carey, Benzino, etc).

Maybe I'll listen to it, since I like concept albums, but probably not.
Slim Shady was the whole point I liked Eminem & D12. Ever since he canned the character in '10 I stopped caring. One last Encore performance by a near-50yo Marshall isn't swaying me much to listen.

He talked about his song “White America”
Is he seriously reframing White America as an attack on Whites while praising the Dindus?
White America was a critique of midwest bible thumpers who wanted Eminem gone, while mocking them that their kids listened to him and loved him just as much as the kids on TRL.
It was Slim saying he understood their kids better than they did. It had nothing to do with race issues.
Trying to delcare that Eminem was always a beacon of neoleftist cringe is a riot; GLAAD and the HRC hated Slim and would constantly use their whores in the music business to censor him when they could for being openly anti-fag, like the rest of hiphop was and should be. He was a shock MC with lolbert ideals who sold out in his 30s, just as he predicted. GTFO with this "Em was always conscience" bullshit.
D-12 was even worse in regard to anti-PC/shock antics, particularly Bizzarre and Kuniva.

the Trump diss in the car parking lot.
Nobody's going to forget you loved the Trumpler and had him do marketing for your 4th LP, Marshall.
You're acting like iDubbbz only with more money due to his nigger daddy's protection, who probably sodomized you if Eazy-E is to be believed.

Trash CD. He tried his hardest to make it sound like MMLP but he simply doesn't have it anymore. Pick the worst song from anything Eminem released pre Recovery and it's 100x better than the best song from his newest album. Relapse wasn't even that good and it's still infinitely better than anything he's released since.
Okay, thought about it. Still wanna stab her.
Grab her by the throat, get your daughter and kidnap her?
That's what I did, be smart, don't be a retard
You gonna take advice from somebody who slapped Dee Barnes?
What you say?
What's wrong? Didn't think I'd remember?
I'ma kill you, motherfucker
Uh-uh, temper, temper
Mr. Dre, Mr. N.W.A, Mr. AK
Comin' straight outta Compton, y'all better make way!
Hilary Clinton tried to slap me and call me a pervert I ripped her fuckin' tonsils out and fed her sherbet.
I take seven {kids} from {Columbine}, stand 'em all in line
Add an AK-47, a revolver, a .9
A MAC-11 and it oughta solve a problem of mine
And that's a whole school of bullies shot up all at one time
I never knew I, knew I'd have a new house or a new car
A couple years ago, I was more poorer than you are
I don't got that bad of a mouth, do I?
Fuck! Shit! Ass! Bitch! Cunt! Shoobity-doo-wop! (Oops)
Skibbedy-be-bop, and Christopher Reeves
Sonny Bono, skis, horses and hittin' some trees (Hey)
How many retards'll listen to me
And run-up in the school shootin' when they're pissed at a tea-
-cher? Her? Him? Is it you? Is it them?
"Wasn't me, Slim Shady said to do it again!"
Damn, how much damage can you do with a pen?
Man, I'm just as fucked up as you woulda been
If you woulda been in my shoes, who woulda thought
Slim Shady would be somethin' that you woulda bought?
That woulda made you get a gun and shoot at a cop. I just said it, I ain't know if you do it or not.
I don't speak, I float in the air, wrapped in a sheet
I'm not a real person, I'm a ghost trapped in a beat
I translate when my voice is read through a seismograph
And the noise is spread
Picked up and transmitted through Royce's head
A killer instinct runs in the blood
Emptyin' full clips and buryin' guns in the mud
I've calmed down now, I was heavy once into drugs
I could walk around straight for two months with a buzz
My brain's gone, my soul's worn, my spirit is torn
The rest of my body's still bein' operated on
I'm ducked the fuck down while I'm writin' this rhyme
'Cause I'm probably gonna get struck with lightnin' this time
