All the locals cope about Nick's narcolepsy medication made me think.
Could he actually start using the medication as replacement after his coke got taken away?

From what I found it is generally not abused that much, but people with drug history are vulnerable. Using it as a crutch off coke is a possibility.
There doesn't seem many external signs of abuse. But if he starts crushing his pills and snorting them it should manifest some of the same afflictions as snorting coke.
Most information is just about overdosing:

I’ve been trying to find it, but in one stream about 1.5 to 2 years ago (pre-lolcow status), he gave the audience advice on obtaining Modafinil/Provigil from India via Indian cab drivers. At the time, he explained that he did it this way because getting a doctor’s prescription would be a hassle that would involve driving and paperwork.
This was around the time that he’d respond to the audience’s concerns about his mere 3-4 hours of sleep per night in the following way: On nights with longer streams ending after 3 a.m., he’d say “oh, I’ll just take a Provigil and go to sleep and by the time I wake up, I’ll be alert enough to drive my kids around.”
Then for some reason, he began saying on his streams in which he discussed Modafanil/Provigil, that he barely even takes it and that it’s just for occasional long stretches of driving. This was around the time I suspected drug abuse, because it seemed unlikely that someone who needed a medication for a medical disorder, would obtain it in the most sketchy way, but apparently doesn’t even use the medication anyway (?!)
There was also a regular viewer who was a professional sleep expert who would doubt in chat that he ever had narcolepsy to begin with and questioned his supposed sleep tests.
All of that to say, that if he has been obtaining prescription medication on the street for years, that Modafinil/Provigil would be just as obtainable as any other prescription stimulant or other drug, so if he is abusing prescription medication, it could be anything.
