Hair tests are the gold standard and are miles beyond your average employment screening urinalysis. They're expensive too. So many gov't agencies wouldn't rely on hair tests for the things that matter if they weren't reliable.I politely disagree with this assessment, The test is more likely to return a negative result than a positive one.
In the Mexican rehab study the hair test only picked up 65.2% of the self-admitted cokeheads, 32 out of 46. That's where the test is flawed: it doesn't pick up on nearly enough drug abusers to be a fully useful tool.
So if a hypothetical kid allegedly tested positive at those levels indicated in the document of uncertain origin, it would absolutely be an indication of continuous cocaine abuse.
