Elden Ring

The first fog door I found, the gaol knight or whatever, took almost ten tries to beat. First fucking boss I found 10 minutes in.
zoned in and the first thing he did was one tap me with his crossbow burst (i'm on NG+3 with 65 Vigor for reference wearing full Bull Goat set sans helmet), took me a few tries to kill as well and he didn't even drop the fucking crossbow.

i'm a few hours in and really enjoying myself, not as stoked about FromSoft being so creatively bankrupt that they felt pressed to recycle shit from Dark Souls 3 (that Pontiff Sulyvahn looking asshole is particularly shameless, though at least not as annoying as them recycling those human fly abortions that spam grab attacks from Ashes of Ariandel).

i even got a flashback to Capra Demon when that Golden Hippo charged at me, i think it is literally like a second between zoning in and it getting in your face and chomping you for half your HP.

i got spoiled on what is supposedly the final boss fight, but i'm hoping there's some esoteric quest line that leads to Godwyn being a boss or something, i found his face at the end of a dungeon after descending three elevators and several boobytrapped rooms and got hopeful that they didn't forget about that nigga.

I'm on my newest character because my other two aren't anywhere near Mohg's palace and I don't feel like fighting him again. BlackGaol boy is blitzing me rn he's brutal. His sword's moveset is hard enough don't really know why the rapidfire crossbow is necessary.

Getting very tired of FromSoft exploiting the knowledge that players will panic roll and designing things exclusively to psych people out. It hasn't killed me once but if he's too far away I know he's going to use it, so it's just there to prevent me from drinking my flask. Not cool Miyazaki.

The flying slash shit definitely caught my off guard the first time. It's a good response to the idiots in the unpopular opinions thread who think the recipe to beat these games is ROLL IDIOTS YOU UNDERSTAND IF YOU WATCH MY ENTIRE PLAYTHROUGH OVER 15 MONTHS YOU WILL SEE IT'S 99.8% BIG ROLLS. I think I just stacked stamina regen, got him against a wall, and staggered him to death with a bleeding greatsword.

Found a surprising amount of negative comments in the steam page. My biggest question is related to performance and particle effects making things chug. Anybody can report on having or not having these sorts of issues? I expect to get into it in like half a day but it wouldn't be a long session anyway, so I can wait out a first performance patch if things really are a bit shitty.

I haven't found any significant difference in performance between the dlc and the base game.

I find it funny that basically all the Miquella lore amounted to literal gay shit. The entire reason why Caelid got nuked was because a literal Fujoshi (look up the translation of Fujoshi) couldn’t admit defeat. They explained what Melania whispered to Radahn in the reskin of Radahn’s armor.

I’m laughing for real. All for that joke and a Berserk reference.

Pretty mid/bad so far.

70% of the loot are useless smithing stones, sometimes even super low-level smithing stones. I found a somber [1] at some point.

The new enemies are all 8 hit combo extravaganza that never stops and two shots 60 vigor characters, a shit load of recycled enemies, and gank squads everywhere. The world looks ugly as shit as well.

And yes, I found the ulcerated tree spirit in the river. I just can't believe they indeed recycled the most retarded mob in the game that was already copy pasted to death in the base game.

Managed to kill a wicker giant. The trick is you need to stagger them three(!) times by smacking their legs, then they'll fall over and you can do a critical for massive damage. I wound up needing to do this twice, but that may be from being on NG+. If you stay close, all they'll do are the big claw swipes, which are easy to dodge with Torrent, and the flame stomp, which you can jump over. It dropped a new Flask tear and a crafting mat.

My only real complaint so far is the goddamn FPS!!

I can run the base game just fine, what the hell did they do so that the DLC runs like shit?!

Yeah ENB put it in the best way I have heard: "It feels like you are not fighting the boss but the developer behind the boss"

I was wondering about the FPS as well but then I saw each building was filled to the brim with breakable objects, moreso than the base game it feels like
Add the game possibly keeping a lot of effects loaded in the background and you got a recipe for sub 30 fps gameplay

Also in the forest near where you start I suddenly heard a bird or creature screaming in specific spots but there was nothing nearby me, there's player signs on the ground pointing out the sound so it has to be some weird ass bug

If you want more nitpicking for recycled DS3. Portions of Messmer's movesets reminds me of Gael and his second phase is almost like the Abyss Watchers (i.e just the same moveset but with a new element in). Gayshit Miquella is basically Twin Princes on second phase and his final line is that from the Painter from Ashes of Ariandel.

Oh and that human fly abortion was just recycled from Bloodborne, the Garden of Eyes in Byrgenwerth.

My issue is that the dungeon design is pretty good and the art design for some of the map is great, the other half being uninspired. I have no issues with reusing assets, but when it’s lazily done it’s just bad.

Some of the bosses are fine, the casual enemies just feel like they slapped on boss moves (the black knights just feel designed to be annoying rather than a challenge), the exploration is okay I like the horse platforming ideas (execution is iffy), and the new weapon types are fun.

If I were to rank the DLC against other games DLC I’d probably go:

Old Hunters > Artorias of the Abyss > Ringed City > Ashes of Ariandel > Crown of the Ivory King > Shadow of the Erdtree > Old Iron King > Sunken King

I've been right about all of my claims so far. But seriously, why is Miquella in a gay relationship with Radhan? What is the fucking lore behind that shit? Did they just add it because they thought the Westerners would like it?
Why don't you want to give your money to Fromsoft and their faggot DLC? It's 2024 and also pride month, you should eat the bugs and consume faggotry in all forms.

I already bought the DLC, and I am waiting to play it.
I don't inherently have a problem with there being a gay relationship in media because it can be incorporated into a story improving the narrative.
For example, the Mough and Miquella thing was fine with me because it isn't exactly wholesome, but it's interesting because it's a one-sided, nonconsensual incest among half-brothers, demi-gods loli corpse for political and magical power thing.
Pairing Miquillea with Rhadarn just comes off as Tumbler fan fic stuff, pairing two of the main popular characters together, and not good writing because I don't currently see how it would be possible in the lore of the game seeing as both characters are dead by the time it happens and the shadow realm apparently isn't the after life + I don't see the incentive of the relationship at the moment (my opinion could change as I play the game and learn the story).

I've been enjoying myself a lot so far...

Besides the continual fucking performance issues. I literally just hit 1fps multiple times in a row. What the hell did they do?! I just don't get it! It's switching between playable and unplayable every 2 minutes! This has to be a bug or memory leak or someshit, right?!

So far I'm digging the DLC, the art design and world design for the beginning area at least is fantastic. Elden Ring is one of the few games I can think of that I just enjoy walking around and looking at shit.

Enemy design is combo heavy so shitters are going to complain.

Spoiler final boss is lame, but somehow looks visually a lot better than the leaks suggested so that guy must have had an early build of some kind. I don't care for it, personally.

Seriously, I blame Reddit. Radahn is cool and all but definitely a meme and I feel like PRIME RADAHN BROS was something only faggots wanted. Fitting then that he gets pozzed with shota brain rot. It should have been Godwyn in some form. People would have been far more excited then. I hope against hope he is in the DLC in some capacity but he isn't I'm sure.

>Put a gay character in the game
>Make him evil, betray everyone, literally mindrape one of the only good characters in the main game
>Let the player brutally murder him
>Chuds still upset

Anyway, some of the leaks, reused assets from prior games, and the bizarre lack of an opening cutscene bespeak of the troubled development of this DLC. Bet it's still great though.

Loads of recycled shit in the DLC, and I'm talking DS3 recycled boss, movesets and enemies, oh and dragons and ulcerated tree spirits are back. Still this gay "body type A/B" choice in the menu. Glad I've pirated it.

We're talking about a setting where the character in question is the product of an incestuous relationship between the same person(?) and is being molested by another half brother. A gay relationship with Radhan sounds nasty but it's shaping up to be kinda the par for the course for these demigod types.
Wait, so Radahn likes horses and fucking little children. Is his character a less than subtle Vaush reference?
