these tests don't test for cocaine itself, they test for cocaine metabolites (the waste products that are created by your liver from cocaine in your bloodstream)

People in your random small town church tend to not get involved with your business because there's the general 'keep it to yourself' small town stance that means you gossip like fuck but only privately.

For multiple people to think he had such critical issues they had to go to the authority figure to air their concerns (in this case the pastor and/or cops) it means it was DIRE.

At a minimum they would retest the positive kid. But that might depend on how blind the tests are to the lab techs? Do they know basic data such as age weight and sex? As soon as the test comes back as positive and is lined up with the 9 year old, someone's gonna ask for a retest. Either the lab itself or from CPS (or whatever they are called there). They would have reserved some hair samples for a retest.

It's possible this happened. There does appear to be some time between the labs and the report to the family court judge.

No doubt that probably played a part but Aaron mentioned Nick being pissed thinking he was being targeted by certain sermons.

The point is Nick was either so emotionally unhinged or desperate for a fix he was making a point of getting up and leaving in a fashion that everybody took note. I’m assuming he did it somewhat aggressively, and didn’t return, given the way the report read. Plenty of people need to quietly get up for a bathroom break, take a work call, or other things that might necessitate walking out of a sermon for a few minutes than quietly coming back in. Nick just gtfo.

It sounded like Nick was making a point to get up and storm out as a rude “fuck you” and then he probably snorted some coke in the Navigator until the service was over and the rest of the clan came out to the car.
