You bring up a interesting point. Companies will often spend big and in the red early on to grow. Once established things tighten up. Maybe the contract is nice now. What about in a few years when loans are due?
I dont think anyone has the answer for that at the moment due to vtubing's explosive growth and most will deal with it in interesting manners, afaik no company has a dedicated roadmap of the sort but some ideas had been floating about like making the performers long term and less dedicated to weekly streams and more suited to events only, sort of like the VA model, but with music production and occasional performing thrown it, possibly circling back to IRL idolshit but maybe some will take some of the lessons learned, who knows, its still a developing industry, for all we know, it crashes and burns spectacularly in 2026
If Vtubers aren't loli aligned then why do they all try to sound like children from bad anime dubs?
It depends on what you watch, for the big two companies's EN divisions, for Hololive only two of them have relatively squeaky voices and only one of them really commits to a higher pitched uwu voice, the other one has a lower tone of voice and only really forces the squeaky one for bits, for Nijisanji i dont think any of their talents have higher pitched voices, at the most one kinda does, but less squeaky and more just kinda faggy, they all just sound like women, they seemingly dont force their voice that much.
Indies are dime a dozen though, but the twitch indie scene rejects Lolishit and some have meltdowns over even being considered Loli, even when their models sorta qualify for some

The companies you keep bringing up do not matter in the slightest in this conversation. These are Streamer corpos not Idol corpos.

The biggest one Cover is a tech company firstmost and use their talents as an extention of their tech. Their biggest talent Gawr Gura barely even streams, she just exists as a merch outlet. Their OG talents aren't even the most popular and yet they truck along.

This Pippa convo? This Phase convo? It is a side gig for a techbro. Phase could fail wholesale and it would be more of an incovenience than anything. They too have talents that barely stream and thus barely make money, look up Remelia Nephys or Erina Makina. They haven't been replaced even though from a business perspective they bring nothing to the table.
You are saying failure is a option? They have no obligations to their stockholders? LMAO. That is not how money works. Especially in 2024. The thing about Vtubers is that the corpos own the characters. You can fire the person and keep selling merch. Which is what the old guard bring to the table. Stability. Its all about the Idols bro.

Phase has no stockholders. Its a side gig to make some extra money. You can keep making up a narrative in your head to try to make it match up the Idol sphere but that idea, those facts only exist for you.

This is also why dozens have failed, no accountability etc.

Cover sure they do but Tanigo is still the primary benefactor, but they are very very well off at the moment

All they are doing is ripping off Anime and Idols for the aesthetics. Repackaging it and reselling it. Bootleg sure, but bootlegs that are much less risk than the labor intensive Anime/Manga field or whatever the fuck Idols are

For the most part, surprisingly no, some indie companies are started entirely by individual's investment rather than a larger shareholder gig and for bigger companies, Hololive isnt that public yet, having only recently gone public while also still having Q&As where they shut down some of the cost cutting measures as ive said (Link) Nijisanji, owned by parent company Anycolor, is the opposite in that it does have a fair amount of public investment, to the point where they once said a very prominent and forced termination of a talent was negligible, which backfired for both some of its investors' opinions even in JP and absolutely tanked their public perception in the EN sphere (Link) people have been numberfagging and i recall seeing some say that almost every talent in their EN division has had one year worth of subscriber growth wiped after this event

Curious all of those stats start in 2004

And to think I blamed Chase as the main reason this thread is a clusterfuck
>pippa is mentioned
>people immediately begin infighting for 5 pages straight

If you're wondering what the "debate" is over, the main point can be summarized as:

I disagree, it's really genre specific.

Attack on Titan
Death Note
Evangelion
Kaiji
Dragonball

These are just five examples where there's nothing like lolicon involved. A lot of the lolicon crap is found in slice of life or harem animes, with some in comedy ones as well. Since I've never watched anime that look girly or for perverted neets, I am surprised when I hear people draw a line from lolicon to the rest of anime.
>my favorite anime is one of the good ones
Nobody asked nor cares.
WTF why did this post tag me?
Autism so strong the sites breaking.

So it's a open market. Wow. How innovative. But the big ones like Nijisanji and Hololive ARE in fact public and DO have people to answer to. Because that's how modern economics work.

One company out of many is private. You just showed it's a competitive market still and the monoplization hasn't taken hold yet. Give it a decade and the rot will set in, assuming it doesn't go bust from risky investments.

Maybe if we spent more time focusing on getting info and talking about the fucker that went on a 3 hour tirade about being turned on by child abuse instead of making weird retarded statements about other users we'd make some actual progress, because so far the last several pages have been schizophrenic witch hunt infighting shit
"pedos are bad"
"I agree"
" GO AHEAD VGOONER DEBATE ME ON HOW ETHICAL CP IS BET YOU LOOOOOVE CP"
It's fucking retarded. This is all retarded. The claims being made about people unfounded, and accusatory replies that make no fucking sense to the posts they're replying to? Retarded. The feigned offense? Retarded. @FightenGnome managing to somehow get baited into the obvious legal talk trap shit to be used further as more material to claim every other user in here is a pedo? Retarded. The fact I even went out of my way to try and point all this out because people keep on this shit? Yeah, you can probably guess it.

Yo I'm pretty sure Dragon Ball and Evangelion have some weird shit involved lol.
Yeah they speak german in Evangelion and goku turns blonde and blue eyed hmm hmm lmao.

I don't think anyone takes what's said on Kiwifarms seriously, or the users here. When I see "everything I don't like is pedophilia" rhetoric I have to say something. If Kiwifarms users want to help water the term down like the terms racism and anti-semitism have, then they can have it on their conscience normalizing that shit. It should be considered a serious accusation

Hololive has been around for 8 years and they've grown by a ton. They've got a bunch of talents who frequently break the tens of thousands (which is big for Vtubers) and frequently get collaborations with big companies (Hololive collabed with Azur Lane, they're doing one with the LA dodgers, they are going to a NY concert, there's even been famous VAs for anime who did stuff with them such as Aoi Yuuki and even the guy who was Kiryu (Yakuza). They even have done stuff with DC (Mori doing the OP and ED songs for their suicide squad anime) furthermore, the debut of their newest Vtubers under HoloJustice (EN), their Britbong got 180K viewers.

If this were a company that was about to die, i doubt they'd have been able to accomplish all this. Furthermore, for some individual talents who have done very well:

Gawr Gura the loli bitch who somehow has the most views for EN

Hochimachi Suisei: She started off as independent before she joined Hololive as Suisei back during its founding (2016). She's got millions of listeners to her songs and she frequently makes a ton of money due to her deals

Inugami Korone: I've seen tons of people enjoy her because she isn't some pedofag shit compared to Gura.

Usada Pekora: She was the #1 viewed female streamer like 2 years back.
