Like for example: a positive feeling is never described as exhuberance or elation or euphoria or anything like that anymore... its always "a dopamine hit." This grand feeling has been reduced to just chemical programming. Like we're all robots who can be manipulated to feel a certain way just by pressing Button X.
Gonna be honest... I don't even think Dopamine is real. We didn't trust science about Covid, why should we trust it about anything else?
And then there's something I often see in media discussions--the use of the term "IP" (short for Intellectual Property). I fucking hate this. "Saga," "Series," or even "Franchise" are better--the former two at least can sort of invoke a grand epic or something artistic ("franchise" not so much). "Intellectual Property" sounds like robot lawyer speak and inherently devalues whatever you're talking about. It should only ever be used as an insult.
And I'm sure if I thought enough, I could come up with more--modern people seem to use a lot of this robot speak. Its like being on the TV Tropes forum but worse, with terminology that seems specifically intended to take the "spirit" out of everything.
No wonder everything sucks--we as a culture kind of accepted that it is so, to the point where we can't even speak about anything in ways that aren't inherently degrading. Imagine if you started referring to your children as "my chattle" or "my slaves," that's about what the modern world is like. And I wouldn't be surprised if some people nowadays actually do that.
What really bothers me is I seem to be the only person bothered by this.
Can we all agree that if you want to fight evil ideologies, the very first thing you must do is stop using that ideology's language?
