It is highly unlikely that internal Twitch policy allows sharing of DMs to anyone inside the company, and there are probably policies limiting who can read them and why. My best guess is that nothing he did comes close to criminal, and the way it was found, plus the fact it was sat on for three years, could potentially open Twitch to a lawsuit if they just cut him off, so they decided the best course of action was to split and pay out the rest of his contract.

I will say "inappropriate messages" is vague enough, for all we know, he COULD of been doing that, and STILL got dinged. You could easily argue saying "hey, lets bang tomorrow on your birthday" IS an inappropriate message.
