As long as companies are run by hilariously out of touch people, they will hire firms that are, if anything, even more out-of-touch.
What's ironic is that's its never been easier to be in touch with consumers, using consultants its a massive waste of money. You got capcom getting 250k gamers telling them what they want, and guess what? it isn't cinematic walking simulators with black trannies, not even more street fighter. They want resident evil, megaman and good gameplay.
I think some if not most of the people in these companies outright hate gamers unironically, but if you're c-suite the money is too good to quit.

I been laughing at the state of things for a while but its not funny anymore, you can only make so many jokes about michael bay and transformers until you realize he kept getting money to make those shitty movies all the way to 6, with probably more to come. Same goes with wokeshit, it was funny a few years ago, but now the entire entertainment industry has its head up its ass with no end in sight, the acolyte being just the latest case of "I can't believe someone greenlighted this turd" but every year they lower the bar a little more, and they push the insanity even further.
Look at all the mascot platformers in the wake of Sonic and Mario, or the tournament fighter craze after Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat.
People forget all the franchises that fell on the wayside, just with sonic you had a bunch of animal mascot games like bubsy, aero, that kamikaze squirrel thing nobody played, zool, croc, spiro, even crash was essentially a sonic clone during development.
Same with fighting games: brutal, art of fighting, eternal champions, primal rage, clay fighters, and a bunch others I can't remember right now.
And while it pisses people off when I say this, the right wing is already gearing up for their next round of censorious nonsense, painting games as "childish" "degenerate" and a "waste of time" that should be spent making GDP go up.
I remember that happening during GG1.0, that gavin guy outright mocking gamers, joe rogan saying we were a bunch of losers despite him dropping a ton of money to get
broadband installed in the 90's to play quake 1 online all day, and many others with similar attitudes. Is like everybody forgot the right wing spent most of the 90's and 00's hating on games, I remember fox news having a shitfit over lesbians in mass efect.
