I think the reason Sargon wants Brit Empire 2.0/Gamergate 2.0/UKIP 2.0 (notice how much 2.0 is there; never anything "new") is those are things he is proud of and could identify with; and that's kinda what he wants back. Something he can identify with that is big enough to be a constant and celebrated part of public life. Basically, the man kinda feels like he's looking for a proper mainstream "team" to support. Which, I can understand, the UK has fucked itself in the ass so hard I doubt most natives living there would be patriotic or nationalistic about it's current state.
