I take Carl's pithy tweet more as an accused charged saying "let's see the State's evidence" in a non-committal fashion rather than someone outright lying that "'I didn't do it!".

A thought which occured to me. Given that his original statement was "I wouldn't even rape you.", doesn't his apology mean he's saying "I'm sorry; I guess you're right. I WOULD even rape you."

It's a chess maneuver, sacrificing the pawn to get the king. Carl wants to become a British dictator so he can rub his smug little face onto everybody's screens and prove his detractors wrong. I caught some of Dankula & Hambly's Friday TISM stream.
Dankula, who attended Carl's UK election night stream in person, said on the TISM podcast directly that Benjamin's formal apology stems from the fact that Phillips was assigned the post and that Sargon feared for the Lotus Eaters' existence now that it's a big enough platform with lots invested in it.
