Mega Rad Gun Thread

Hard brace it for a few days, then switch to an ACE bandage. Try to limit movement, and do not take anything for the swelling if you get any. The inflammation is good, means stuff is getting repaired and the swelling is your body cushioning and limiting the mobility on purpose.
What you did is get old. I feel it too, sometimes.
If i'm already a geriatric at 24 im megafucked by the time im 40.

If you don’t own a tactical rifle and you live in the United States right now, you’re a fucking idiot. I want an AR “so badly” so I can stop being a fucking idiot.
Not wrong but can I ask do you own a handgun?

I just ask because realistically you're not going to be carrying an AR with you everywhere you go, and a concealable weapons you can keep on your body when you're outside the house is probably the most practical thing to start with.

On my latest safari to see what Reddit faggots are up to I saw they uploaded a picture purportedly of security teams at Jan6.
What the ever loving fuck are these reflective stickers on their slides and what is the purpose?

That's a good question. I would guess to immediately signify who was actually part of the security team via a quick glance at the gun? Like, if all your tards have shiny stickers on their gun, one being pulled suddenly will give you a quick way to identify if it's a bad guy gun or good guy gun. That's all I could think of.

Cost efficient friend or foe identification system
this. when plainsclothes and unknown hostiles also in plainsclothes you need to PID at a glance and a piece of tape on the slide or put on a shoulder can do that.

A pistol is way more practical.

Here's what you do.

You go to the nearest gun store that let's you rent firearms. Tell them you're interested in 3 pistols, but you're not sure which one you want yet. Tell them you want to try out the :

Glock 43x MOS
Glock 48 MOS
Glock 19 MOS

Try these out, see which one is most comfortable to shoot. Then buy that one.

I recently obtained more ammunition (before the shitshow that was Saturday) to where I'm happy with what I have given my budget. While I do want more ammunition eventually, as I don't think that there should be an upper limit (within reason; where said reason is up to said person), I am currently happy with what I have given my overall budgeting in my life currently.
My recommendation to others, get more ammunition and other supplies that can go shorthand while you can; I probably will end up getting more ammunition (going slightly overbudget for now) given what has happened, and because cost - supply will thereby go up - down.
I think it's smart to always maintain two different supplies of ammo for whatever weapons you have. One is your stash that you build up to whatever amount you think is good to have and then you leave it alone, and the other is your training and carry supply. This is what I do.
Lastly, out of all the ammo out there (for 9mm), I've had the most issues with Winchester and their sub-brands.
Didn't WWB used to be the good plinking/practice stuff not long ago? I wonder how and why it fell off so hard.
You could always part out getting your AR, get a complete upper first and get a cheap lower later where you can put in aftermarket guts.
I completely agree with this. This is how I've acquired most of my AR-15s and it is indeed more cost effective to do it this way. Also, take some time to evaluate what aftermarket parts you really want or need and then wait for that stuff to go on sale if you must have it. I was surprised by how little difference stuff like ambi charging handles, ambi safety selectors, or ultra premium BCGs made. At the end of the day, it was all about how how well I performed.

Want a reasonably priced upgrade for an AR? Get a Timney trigger, I always seem them on sale and they're super easy to install and run like a champ.

Cars.... $10k for something under 15 years old. A $5k car is going to be a salvage title or 20+ years old and beat to absolute SHIT.
I don't know, sometimes you just gotta really look. I got my 1991 Seville (always have to make sure it is noted to NOT be the shitty Northstar engine variant) for $3450. Then I put about a grand of work into it. And other than a few interior blemishes, it's basically brand new. Dude kept regular maintenance, and it sat in a shop when he wasn't out Sunday driving. Only sold it off because he had cancer and wanted it to go somewhere it'd be taken care of. He quizzed me on parts of the car and after deciding I was the guy informed me he turned down several niggers who offered more because he knew it was gonna get impounded or fucked up. That thing has almost not a spot of rust on it.
Sometimes you get lucky, happens more often in rural areas.
EDIT: Completely seriously, I have a long term plan to install ceramic plates lining each of the doors and the engine bay. Put some heavy gauge steel mesh behind the radiator so it keeps airflow. And then swap out all the glass for either bulletproof or that weird glass with the mesh in it that is impact resistant. Maybe sliding steel with a camera mounted and a monitor inside. I meme on some shit, but I do genuinely want to make it into a battlewagon. That big steel fucker could be a mini tank, sort of like that one Angel guy from Eastern Europe that would deliver medicine in his kitted out car beset on all sides by gangs and military groups. And it a rumbling beast with that bigass american V8 already, he wouldn't notice a few extra hundred pounds.
EDIT 2: Found him. https://www.badassoftheweek.com/ghostcamaro

The cheapest AR that will last you a long time and will be functional long after a ban or SHTF is gonna be around 1K. Lowers from all the major budget brands are largely interchangable (S&W, PSA, Anderson, Aero) will run you about 150$ before shipping, tax and FFL fee, and can easily be checked for fitment with some basic tools that youll want to get anyways.
I have an Anderson upper and it does NOT fit on my York Arms lower. I don't even know if York Arms is still in business. I had no problem with other uppers on that lower, Anderson is the only one that gave me problems.

If you want a complete rifle from a big name Mfg, S&W M&P Gen 3 is A OK. A slightly more expensive option is an IWI Zion.

As everyone else (including me) has said, if you're willing to wait and save for a little bit, BCM 16 inch upper on a reputable lower you've bought or put together yourself is the best way for bang for your Buck.

I'll tell you some things you SHOULD NOT DO.

1. Don't buy/fuck around with weird proprietary parts. Eg. Adjustable gas blocks, out of spec folding buffer tubes, fly by night drop in trigger companies, propriety lowers, polymer parts that are normally aluminum, etc.

Your first AR should be BORING right out of the gate. As much parts compatibility as possible.

Id hit up Primary Arms, Rooftop Defense and similar and PSA and start getting that you need ASAP. You'll have a excellent AR in no time at all.

This right here. Pistols will feel different based on type and manufacturer.

Nothing wrong with a Glock but KF you don't like how they feel in your hand a S&W M&P 9mm is also great. Another option is the P365 XL or P365 Fuse.

GET A 9MM for the love of God, don't let the gun shop/range make you leave with a .40/10mm in 2024.

I currently have a 2:1 ratio of range to carry/training ammo. I eventually want to increase both, but primarily range ammo for the foreseeable future.

Last time I used WWB, was some M193 (5.56) that worked well, but was a bit dirty about 3 years ago.

Yeah, 10mm IMO is only really good for being innawoods and protection against some animals (black bears and hogs), but not bigger game such as brown bears.
I have a Springfield 10mm that I got for hiking (I've only brought it when hiking in county where animals are known to be aggressive or could seriously hurt a person), but it's the full duty size one and I use Bear Load or better bullet grain weight.

tolerance stacking maybe. see if it's easier to assemble with the rear take down pin first, then the front. if so, the front lug should have dykem applied to see where it's rubbing and either adjust accordingly or "shoot it out" which will normalize after a few hundred rounds. if it's the rear lug that is binding somewhere, it could be the take down pin hole isn't 90 degree square with the lug and dykem can reveal where the rubbing is and a needle file used to adjust.

I feel like it needs to be said every dozen pages or so, but train. Train like your life depends on it, as it very well could someday. No matter what pistol or rifle you get, train. I'm poor so a laser training cartridge has helped me train and has shown me things about my technique and pistol that have already helped me be a better shooter. It's so nice because I'd rather save more ammo than I shoot, since I don't buy ammo often.

Pistols are objectively bad at most things rifles excel at. A couple of those things are penetration and velocity. Most handgun calibers being basically equal in that they aren't going to penetrate most armor, I'd rather have more bullets in a CCW than "slightly higher on-paper specs at the expense of capacity and controllability" rounds. In the majority of cases you might find yourself using a pistol to defend yourself, your adversary won't be wearing armor. Again, more bullets beats marginally increased performance on a soft target. More bullets means more chances to stop the adversary and 9mm is absolutely capable of stopping most adversaries.

I understand and I mostly agree with the reasons for getting a pistol instead of an AR. Thankfully I am nobody important so unlike Null I don’t have any reason to be ambushed. I even live in a mostly law and order oriented city. Mostly. I feel I can worry about a pistol later. Right now I’m looking at the climate of the USA and I want to be prepared. I have experience with an M4 and M249. I can’t get an M249 and it wouldn’t be much use to me anyway so I’m looking for a semi-auto M4. I just don’t have over a thousand dollars to spend on short notice.

I went to the range with a woman once and she used a pistol while I borrowed the AR. Time after time her pistol locked and wouldn’t rechamber because she wasn’t strong enough to hold it right. I don’t have the time or money to go to the range and practice shooting pistols to be sure that doesn’t happen to me. I want what I know how to use.

Is it a crime to enjoy a succulent egg mcmufffin?

Is It a crime to want people to have reliable and excellent handguns so that when bad men try and remove them from the corporeal realm, they can adequately defend themselves?

Gentlemen, this is democracy, manifest.
