New York Times put an article out on J. D. Vance's time at Yale.
Sofia Nelson, a former classmate who is transgender and was once a close friend of both Mr. Vance and his wife, recalled that Mr. Vance delivered home-baked treats when they underwent top surgery. But years of friendship ended in 2021 over his support for an Arkansas bill opposing transgender care for minors.

“It hurt my feelings when he started saying hateful things about trans people,” they said.
Think I found the picture of this pitiful pooner. Appears to be an appellate defender in Detroit.

For some reason, every page on every website mentioning her by name has been deleted or is private. Odd.
Edit: Found a video of her (She looks and sounds like a goddamn 10 year old boy) seeking to get a man out on parole.
“When I went through trial and I heard of the monster that I was described as, I was disgusted in myself, and I knew that I had to change, I knew that I had to be better,” Leamon said during his time on the stand. By "better," Leamon meant better than what he did at the age of 16 when he strangled to death Becky Stowe, his 15-year-old pregnant girlfriend, and buried her body in a shallow graves on his cousin’s farm.

This would provide a lot of work on the coasts too I'd imagine. Curious to see if this all is real or just a meme to get in office.

I'm sure it is real in the sense that Trump would like to have it to drop on the forehead of Russia/China in brinksmanship negotiations. But it's not real in the sense that the Congress is going to wake up and say "hey here is 5 trillion dollars to go build the more advanced comprehensive missile defense network in human history". At this point the defense industry can't even build a properly functional fighter. I'm skeptical that even WITH 5 trillion dollars and decades of inevitable delays they would end up with something capable of meeting the required 99.9% success rate.

Lou Dobbs passed away. He was a good one, one who Fox News fired for being too Trump. RIP.

Fox News' front page has Bob Newhart and no Lou Dobbs as dead and so for a moment I thought somebody fucked up but now I wonder if Fox just don't care.

Air to Air? Holy shit, not anymore we don't. Not for decades now.
What? Why the fuck not?
And ICBM interception was a solved problem (ish) in the 70s. It was just impractical at scale.
No, it wasn't a solved problem. There is a major difference between something which technically maybe could achieve it and the reality of actually stopping something moving at those kinds of speeds is not only a technical challenge, but a physical one. Their terminal speed is 7km/s. They can outrun pretty much everything.

Someone looked at a factsheet and went "Aha! So, this missile could technically, if it went off at the correct angle, potentially produce enough of a blast to damage the warhead" - there isn't any technology which can effectively, reliably manage to intercept an ICBM. There are far too many things that the incoming missile can do - they can be pre-programmed to curve, for example, by a slight move of the internal gyroscope to "wiggle" - a few mm of wiggling would mean that any interceptor would be miles off.

The actual tests are flawed in that they are closer to "target dummy tests" - they are more akin to stab vests. Stab vests do technically help, but an attacker will just stab your legs instead. The tests are stupid easy-mode - it's easier to get around the interceptor than it is to stab someone's leg.

They want to put these across the country. We would be invincible if this is implemented. MAD doctrine would fall apart. This is equal to the Sentinel ICBM program under development in terms of importance.
No, it isn't. In the same way that the ceramic plate didn't make the gun obsolete. Infact, it's similar to the same plate vest offering protection against an ICBM. It will offer practically no protection.

(it's not worth the investment in a protection sense. I still approve of it, in the sense that it's a better way to waste money. It's better to have thousands of rockets, than thousands of niggers)

Trust us, he had pictures of politicians from both sides on his phone!
Law enforcement sources briefed on the investigation told CNN that in addition to the photos of Trump and Biden, the shooter’s phone also contained pictures of congressional leaders, such as House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

There were also pictures of other politicians across the political spectrum, including Rudy Giuliani, the former Trump attorney involved in the effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election, and Fani Willis, the Fulton County district attorney who is prosecuting both Trump and Giuliani.

Almost all of the pictures appeared to have been downloaded from the internet and were not accompanied by any threatening language or messages. Sources briefed on the investigation told CNN that the phone also showed searches dating back to this spring, looking for the dates and locations of Trump rallies and for information on the two political conventions.

You're wrong on all fronts. We already have the technology, the Ground Based Interceptor, hell we already have them in Alaska and California. They are talking about mass deployment of that system. They are talking about a scenario where we actually survive the apocalypse. The situation you talk about was true in the 60's. Not in 2024.

Sorry to break it to you but if Russian nukes weren’t seriously a threat to the American homeland, we would’ve already invented an excuse to invade Russia over Ukraine.

Yes, those missile exist. No, they aren’t nearly enough to prevent MAD. They’ll only mitigate losses. Every modern nuke is loaded with decoys that have an identical radar cross-section to a RV. You need thousands of those missiles to intercept everything.

On top of that, they only need to get one shot through to take down the entire power grid and Internet, which will crash our economy.

Vance speech link for those who missed it.

We got guided missiles instead of a unguided flying nuke. That and missiles just got far better.

You're just sperging. There is a reason ABM development has had TRILLIONS spent in developing it.

We can always build thousands. That is a option.

Just to give everyone an idea of how much of a clusterfuck it is for the Democrats right now, here's the past month's betting averages.

No one has any fucking idea who their actual nominee will be. It's been ping-ponging back and forth as news drops or even rumors. I wouldn't be surprised if it crosses over a 6th time in the next few days. Either way it hardly matters, they're just fighting over who gets to play captain on a sinking ship.

I don't know if Biden has had a stroke or not, but I'm willing to be at least one prominent member of the party has during all of this.
I was going to post this myself, but am just going to add to it so no one can give me a clock sticker.

Betting odds currently give Biden a 7.8% chance to win. Polling in Virginia, which by all historic metrics should lean blue, currently has them neck and neck with Trump having a slight lead.

If you are still riding with Biden are convinced he can't lose against a man accused of over 9000 felonies, you could be making a fucking killing.

Well no, because you can launch A2A from existing airbases at a pilot's discretion.

You will have a much easier time using the A2A because you're much more likely to have one in the air during the launch phase, the time where the rocket is more vulnerable.

Once it's on the terminal phases, you're fucked. Your only real hope is to knock their aim, because there's no interceptor on the planet that can outrun that shit. It's like trying to contain the nuke itself, just to block it. The kinetic energy of a reentry vehicle is so far beyond comprehension - you know, a 5.56 round going at that speed would have a similar energy to about a ton of TNT.

How, exactly, would you stop something that fast, hardened by heat and so hot that the radiation coming from the plasma on the front is enough to damage anything which comes close?

The only reason money was spent was because it was better to atleast try - it offers some protection.

I don't think you understand. One intercepted ICBM is still millions of lives, saved. It's the same as throwing chemotherapy at a kid who you're pretty sure is gonna die. You don't just say "Well, 99% chance he'll die" - you push for the extra 1%

But you will never reach 100% nor even come close.

Its always fun to see fat black women protesting against another moon landing again while asking for more gibs. Bring back that late 60s vibe.

Someone needs to tell her that NASA basically wouldn't exist if it weren't for black women. I mean one of them single-handedly figured out how to land on the Moon!
