Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee from Houston dies at age 74

She'd been battling pancreatic cancer, apparently.

There was this moment when she took a brown envelope on camera from someone sitting behind her in a hearing, it caught a lot of people's eye. I dialed a commentator and sent the clip to his email.

He told me it's not worth it—pay it no mind. He lightly touched on it and moved on. He knew.

(He knew she was on a health rollercoaster and didn't want to go near it.)

Very low, but I'm pretty sure county-by-county it's going to be mostly red outside LA/SF and the Marin County area.
California is more likely to break itself up. IE and Riverside county are fed up with Sacramento and LA shitheads ruining their areas (assuming there's anything left to ruin). Even San Diego is ready to throw in the towel, considering they share a border with Tijuana and are now taking the brunt of illegals

I think you guys are underestimating how hard the propaganda machine will work to push out their voter base, they genuinely believe project 2025 is happening if Trump is elected. They're going to "vote blue no matter who"

Getting people riled up about a dense Heritage Foundation wishlist is an incredibly dumb campaign strategy. No normal person gives a shit. What works is "Trump is a Nazi who will KILL brown people." Just gotta convince him that this time, he really is gonna genocide the spics.

Might be power leveling, but in Hollywood and surrounding neighborhoods, what was once a vocal minority has moved much closer to 50-50 on the “I am so sick of progressive bullshit” spectrum. The machinery is so complete and fortified here that I don’t see our congressional seat flipping in this election, but, it may within the next two or three cycles. Adam Schiff is so bad that even hair on fire insane crazy white liberal women are fed posting about him on Nextdoor and Facebook.

Man 2024 isn’t even over and shit has been crazy pants all year long. I feel like too much is happening all at once.
Today was a complete hangover for me.
>hyped up on assassination coverage Saturday and Sunday
>hyped up on RNC coverage Monday through Thursday and all the news with Biden

Nothing happened today and I don't know what to do with myself.

At the time people watching thought it was the shooter. I think even some news reporters thought it was.
Nobody expected a sniper, everyone thought it was someone in the crowd who got lucky with smuggling a small pistol in. Thus why a lot of conversation revolved around if it had a suppressor or was a .22.
Weirdly, we're at that point where smuggled weapons is probably the only way forward for these kinds of events, Trump's team, as well as any other high visibility politician's security, are going to be rightfully paranoid about their local environment now.

We actually had a Trump rally in 2020 near where I am with participation/turnout rivalling the yearly xmas lighted truck parade. I've noticed people are a lot more open with the hats/stickers as of late too, even before the assassination attempt. It makes me wish they'd finally pass any of the crazy state-splitting plans that've been proposed and gone nowhere over the years.

Not calling you a liar, but I am calling you wildly optimistic. For all the alleged "good" rural Californians we keep hearing about, Trump only got 34% statewide in 2020. (Maybe more once you remove the margin of fraud, but CA is unwatched on that aspect as much as it is on polling.)

It strikes me that you’re reading this map as though the light blue areas are areas where everyone voted for Biden and that it was simply low turn out. They aren’t. They’re places were Trump only barely lost a matter of 10,000 to 50,000 votes. Add to that the California is an notorious state for ballot splitting. Do you know how many Orange County housewives voted for Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden and then every single local Republican representative or judge? It’s a lot. All you truly have to do to get California’s electoral votes is flip a medium sized percentage of San Diego, Los Angeles, and the Bay Area.
