Are videogames for children?

Unlike AMD they sold the chips not the license to manufacture them. They refused to do that, just like Intel.
Sony then got in bed with Nvidia for the PS3 then turned to AMD. Apple also shifted from Nvidia to AMD.
Did Apple move to their own tech?

Nintendo are going with Nvidia again. Maybe MS are going with Nvidia because the rumours of a handheld console are true? Microsoft should have made a handheld 15 years ago. I think it's a little too late now though.

Anyway, two consoles having different architecture is what made console generations so fun.

Has anyone played Colony Ship? It's got a decent discount right now and wondering if it's worth picking up.

Looks like the new SNK game has been pussified.

And censored.

Why even make fighting games? How do they sell these new projects if not just nostalgia? MK1, SF6 and T8. The three giants; one is already dead, Tekken is on its way there, and SF6 just revealed a year of characters nobody wanted, hoping the shock value is more than enough to make up for lack of seeing old characters in new designs.

They did, but they also had their MacPro workstations where they switched from Nvidia to AMD(mostly over CUDA as I understand it, but still).

I think one of the reasons that Nintendo is fine with it is because they don't lower the price of the switch. $299 at launch, $299 now. Which is kind of weird(yeah I know "it prints money, why would they..:") because afaik every Nintendo before that have seen a reduction in price over time.

None of the consoles have seen a price drop this generation, even worse, the cheeky bastards at Sony and MS RAISED their prices.Imagine paying £500 for a console, 4 years into the generation, or worse, buying a console that's had the DVD drive removed AND had the price increased by £100.

You know, one game I'd really like to enjoy is Tropico, but it's just always so janky. They keep crankin' 'em out and they never get any less janky. Like we're up to Tropico 6 and I don't know what it even does that Tropico 3 didn't already do, but I've tried them all through 5 and they're all just kinda uncomfortable and I never feel like I'm playing it the right way.

I know the feeling, I've tried to get into the games since the first one but it just doesn't click.

Just watched a trailer for .45 Parabellum Bloodhound, i dig the PS1-style graphics, the setting looks cool and the combat system looks like a love letter to PE1, same for the BGM. I seriously dislike the character designs, though. Still gonna check it out when it releases.

Trailer in question:

Haven't played it yet but i was following it since its early access days, it looks really good. Saw that Space Prison finally released, played the demo that was up at one of the last couple of Nextfests and liked it a lot, i really need to play more vidya again.

I've seen people talking about Marathon, I haven't seen anything other than the trailer but is there any news about it? The trailer looked cool in a demo scene kind of way but people are talking about like it's going to be a hero shooter.

It's an extraction shooter, a multiplayer GaaS crap genre with no relation to the original Marathon games. It's tasteless to use an existing IP for this kind of cookie cutter game where the setting and story don't matter at all.
Marathon is an old beloved game so naturally the announcement pissed off anyone who liked it.

it was originally a Tarkov-like but they changed it due to the genre rapidly losing popularity, apprently its just going to be a gay overwatch clone now, im 99% sure its gonna be DoA for two reasons
1. the FPS market is already extremely saturated especially hero shooters
2. Bungie makes their money off of Destiny 2 which its main audience is Zoomers with Stockholm Syndrome, they arent going to care about it either since its not Destiny

(dislaimer: i am aware this game came with the ds, but more info has been found out since, iirc someone managed to dump a copy of one of the cartridges and found out it was a prototype)
holy fucking shit this is kind of a big find, there was supposed to be a metroid prime release on the ds, do you wanna hear the crazy part? Build date is 2002, 2 years before the ds was even announced, that means this game was either really far into development and got canned due to unknown circumstance or was going to be used to promote/test the ds 3d capabilites under a neglected ip.

proto isnt uploaded to the site for obv reasons but still seriously interesting this was found.
I also might be autistic and reading things incorrectly but all evidence points to this possibly being not a demo release and rather a hastily released unfinished proto for what was supposed to be a finished game for the actual release of the ds.

Warmachine Studios, also known as BMC Warmachine, a fangame studio, has released a trailer for their upcoming remake of the Gameboy game Castlevania : The Adventure.

Their remakes have been pretty great. All of them have 16 bit art, fantastic remade music, and are very easy to setup and play. Unfortunately, they don't have a proper website or anything, so actually finding their remakes have become rather tough, and this has resulted in others stealing their remakes and even charging for them. Here are links to their previous games if anyone here likes classic Castlevania and wants to try these remakes.

Castlevania 2
Castlevania 3

Given how their games look, it seems like nothing of value was lost?
The front page stuff sucks, but when I looked further, it looks like they've published some of the best indie games out there too:
Signalis
Crying Suns
Chinatown Detective Agency
Unsighted
Slay The Spire
Moonscars
A Hat in Time
Void Bastards

Though most of their recent investments since Ghost Song seem to be pretty bad, except Bo: Path of the Lotus. The Wingman Frontline 59 looks pretty good but it seems to mostly be a tech demo. But this is typical for most publishers, they usually get a large amount of mediocre to bad games and from time to time they get a huge hit. Humble Games seem to have been doing decent so far, to be honest. I'm not sure why they shut down. The only explanation I can think of that other than A Hat in Time and maybe Slay the Spire, the other good games they've published haven't really become mega hits, so maybe the 40 person team wasn't sustainable?

Edit: According to an update to this article, it looks like they're just cutting out or replacing some of the workforce, not shutting down the entire publishing arm.
