I can't wait to see how many grandpas with guns from films that the Zoomer playerbase don't care about get added to this series before it caves in on itself. You know... Instead of actual Mortal Kombat characters.
LOL, the fact that MK11 had Rambo in it was what finally pushed me over the edge to buy it. His ultra-violence does "fit" that universe. I can also see why some of the non-MK DLC characters were included, as they are generally all iconic characters from other franchises.

MK1 on the other hand, seems to now be leaning into "flavor of the month" inclusions, which I can see some having real issues with.

It would be nice however to have more actual Mk characters included, DLC or otherwise.

I'm glad you liked him, and I think that including edgy characters like Spawn, Peacemaker and Homelander are appropriate picks, it's just that the old movie characters seem odd and wasteful. Like, who on earth even cares about RoboCop these days? Rumors say that Ghostface, Conan and the T-1000 are coming next and it makes my heart sink. It seems odd to think that we're never getting Stryker again because he's too generic, yet most of the action heroes don't have much inventive about their design. Even guys like the Skin-faced killer from Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Ash Williams just have a chainsaw and little else, in a universe where guys can summon hammers and ice. It seems so out of touch to me. Guests shouldn't make up half of the DLC.

As far as guest DLC, my favorites were Rambo, and the Terminator (although I wish they used the version from the first, and still IMO, the best movie of the franchise). My favorite character in MK11 overall is Johnny Cage, FWIW.

They probably bring in the older characters to entice oldsters like me to pick up the game, but Robocop, instead of Stryker is a bit of a kick in the nads for long time MK diehards. I'd love to have Stryker back in the game.

With how woke the company has gotten, I doubt we'll ever see Stryker again unless it's in some minor role like a Kameo. Robocop gets through because he's so cartoonishly over the top.

I think the problem in general is how ever since MK9, they pretty much just cheat you out of a full klassic roster every time. Like Jade, Sindel and Kabal? Better luck next game. They've returned! ...At the cost of Reptile and Ermac. And now, as well-rounded as MK1 is, we're back to there being no Jade. And they've basically been teasing us for Cyrax and Sektor every single game now! I wish the new games didn't feel like potlucks so much.

Exactly, Stryker is too based for how pozzed this series is now.
Which is why his "return" looks like a fucking mall cop, & not even a good mall cop like Paul Blart. Seriously, you pair him with Johnny Cage, he looks like he's doing a security gig. I love his Fatal Blow & Fatality tho.

I realize I'm going to sound like a pissbaby here, but fuck it. I'm pretty salty that there are Krypt exclusive unlockables... specifically, one of Johnny Cage's intros, and 2 of his victories, and it does not look very straightforward, or easy to unlock them via the Krypt. It blows... I could see some skins, considering there are so many, but Intros and shit, you'd think, should be unlocked by fighting, not wandering tombs like a sped.

Actually, everything should be unlockable by the fighting portion of the game, but that's just me.

If you are an MK lore sperg like I am, there's a chance you'd get a kick out of wandering around Shangy for Kahn's island and see all the stuff like the statues and the MK movie reference, and the arena from the first game, etc.

However, it quickly loses its appeal because it's relly just tedious with how fast travel works (or doesn't) or how grindy it is and how you need a special currency to see even more chests and chase Reptile around.

Or that kinda excessive "perform 25 fatalities on every character on the roster including guest characters to unlock this special place"

I've said it before in this thread but if they made some kind of spinoff featuring the Krypt, I'd be stoked.

I think it's better than the stupid bullshit retardo board game thing from MK1's invasion mode though.

If it helps, I agree. I'm not that old but I am of the increasingly old-school and unpopular opinion that unlockables should be unlocked by playing the game you paid money to play.

But Esports don't have time for that so you better buy those ten season passes and log in every day for that special premium currency you need to unlock that recolor of an outfit, you otherwise could have gotten by beating the story on hard mode or whatever.

As far as MK lore is concerned... I stopped following the games after UMK3. I thought their move to polygons ruined a part of the game's charm and look. Not to mention, at least with MK4, the graphics looked like a low-rent knockoff of games that did that look better. Part of what enticed me to buy MK11 was the fact that the characters look like real people again, for the most part.

I was quite disappointed in reading how badly Neatherrealm has chosen to treat that canon. Hardcore fans, the ones you'd think, you'd want to keep in the fold, take that stuff very seriously. I thought the multiverse ending to MK11 was pretty dumb and played out.

It really nags at my mild OCD, that I'm likely never going to unlock those intros and victories, even though I'll soon skip them once I've seen them a few times.

To me, the Krypt is just not fun. I bust down a wall to get to another section...find a bunch of green glowy things that all say locked. Well, how the fuck am I supposed to unlock them? There probably should be some kind of hint or guidance there to let you know. Yes, I can watch a walkthrough, but I really shouldn't have to. Or I come upon a gate that is locked. It has the name of something that I'll need to unlock it (I think), but where the fuck am I gonna find it. I've already unlocked all the chests up to that point...or I missed something and now I've gotta go back over every square inch of the Krypt to find it? I just don't have the autistic dedication for that. It seems punishing. Or the "meat" puzzle with the skeleton, a desiccated Shou Khan, and one of the Cyborgs... Ok, I get the skeleton, I'm dead, no problem, But when I match the other 2, nothing seems to happen. No indicators that you've unlocked anything, nothing. I go back to the green glowy things, and they are still locked, so what the fuck did I accomplish, lol? I suspect NRS was going to sneak in some sort of microtransactions to buy most of that stuff, and might have gotten some pushback on it, so left everything as is.. overly complicated..

Despite my gripes about unlockables, and some woke shit that isn't really as bad as it's been made out (Jax's ending seems more like one of those dark endings that the first 3 used to have. All it was missing was a "Have a nice day.") I've been having loads of fun with the game. Hell, the whole impetus to getting a PS4, to begin with, was to play SF6, and I'm finding I'm having more fun with MK11 than SF6. never would have guessed, being a decades-long SF diehard.

Alright, MKfags, what are your thoughts about Takeda and Ferra? Because I saved this picture of Ferra as recently here, and holy shit is she ugly as fuck. Nice to see NRS mentioning Taven and Daegon, but they are just filler characters in the 3D era, and funnily enough, cameos in Takeda's MK1 ending. Also, most of MK1's retcon tends to make little sense or just good in paper but badly executed because of NRS reskinning the same shit over again since MK11 and just plaster with ugly face models on women, but not men because they have double standards.

Hoo mama.

First off, Ferra being ugly is fine. She was a child in X and an ugly one at that and in her ending, she grows up to be a Torr, a hulking linebacker. Not exactly Helena of Troy

More importantly, where is Torr? The two of them made them an interesting addition to the roster of X. It was unique. If you're not gonna add the other half, then what the fuck is even the point?

Yeah...

"To kill a snake, you cut off its head. Or in the Yakuza's case, its heads. Kenshi said I couldn't do it. But he didn't know what I knew: that the families' bosses were meeting to talk shop and settle disputes. In one fell swoop, I could decapitate them all. As they nursed whiskey and negotiated, I waited. My moment came, then was cut short, when a fiery portal opened. Out of it stepped men I'd never seen before. And from the bosses' low bows and averted eyes, I could tell they were the ones really in charge. Listening in, I learned they run the Red Dragon, an ancient clan secretly behind all of Earthrealm's crime families! I could crush the Yakuza, but these Red Dragon would simply replace it; probably with something even worse... I'm facing a powerful new enemy in my war on the underworld. One I never saw coming. And I've got to finish them or die trying."

???????????

Why is this not the Black Dragon? Is it because the red ones killed Takeda's mom in the comics? What the hell is even going on?

Daegon and Taven getting mentioned in Rain's MK11's ending made full sense.

This is just.....

TFW you become so woke you become sexist.

Latest Kombat Pack. Includes Noob Saibot, Night Wolf, Cyraxx, Sektor, T-1000 and GhostFace.

That's Conan the Barbarian, not Night Wolf. Also, these retards really did troon out Sektor and Cyrax. At least since they're cyborgs, we won't get to see their ugly man faces (unless they give them human alts like in MK9).
