Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

I just did the raids.
Story is cool. Mechs are neat. Fights are fun. Music is bussin'.

The horse bitch can fuck off and die though. Am I supposed to care for her because her soul is dying or something?
She tries to murder me, the person who killed her crazy king and the one responsible for putting the beast soul system in place to begin with to save her own hide from a situation she put herself in. She was unnecessarily rude and lashing out at her sister for pointing out the obvious "murdering people to save yourself is wrong", did nothing to alleviate her situation except sit in hiding the whole time for who knows how fucking long and thinks that she can step up to me?

Nah, fuck off. Just die. Your soul problem isn't my problem and should be no one else's except yours.
The thing is she’s literally meant to be like a crack addict. Like the song (which I quite enjoy) really hammers home that parallel that she’s a broken woman who’s aware she’s only been helping to perpetuate the cycle that fucked her up, but the only way to save her own life is to go from passive victim to active murderer.

GNB fucking owns. It's the best designed class in the game. Plus for whatever reason they made it even better in DT while not touching PLD's button bloat or DRK's many many issues.
GNB is the next tank i wanna level up, any advice?

You don't get the full experience until level 70 when you unlock Continuation.

Other than that there's nothing weird going on with GNB. If you have a really awful undergeared healer you can rotate Keen Edge Brutal Shell Keen Edge Brutal Shell etc. and that's enough to keep you up through most leveling dungeons if you're rolling mitigations correctly.

So, we're comprised of aether, but we're made of Normal Aether and Special Aether. But Memories are different from both Special and Normal Aether because.... ??????????????
Kind of. Memories fall into the same category as being special because memories are supposed to be the part that makes you who you are. Think of a soul as just a blank piece of paper and memories as writing on that paper. The soul gives life while the memories make you who you are. They can be separated from eachother naturally via the lifestream after someone dies, or artificially by pumping it full of a specific amount of light aether which the Alexandrians have mastered. So the process goes:

A soul is created in the lifestream which then goes to be born into a person. That person lives their life and accumulates memories. When they die, their soul returns to the lifestream where their memories and soul are separated via a natural process. That soul then once again goes off to be reborn into another person while the memories that were previously in the soul remain in the lifestream. You have some rare cases where someone can be born and retain some few or all memories of their previous life which is basically reincarnation. But those memories belong to that person so even whilst having memories from another life, you're still your own person i. e. Fandaniel saying that he's still Amon even though he's inherited all of Hermes' memories.

All living things are composed of corporeal aether which gives us physical form and incorporeal aether that makes up our soul and memories. After death, our corporeal aether remains and eventually goes back into the star while our souls go to the lifestream to be "cleaned up" for the next person to eventually be born.

I don't see how her addiction should be something I or anyone else needs to pay for with their life. Neither does her childish reaction to the bad situation she's put herself into makes her someone I should give a rat's ass about. She's just a worse version of Sphene and I can't stand her. Maybe she'll develop into something less shit but for now she can just find a nice corner to go into and die. Preferably without talking.

Next set of fights are going to be three regular fighters, then the final fight will be one of those fighters who's about to be "retired" who goes nuts. Horse girl rocks up and tries to shank the WoL from behind, gets slapped down, lectures her younger sisters about not being a beast aids riddled coke whore who sucks the presidents dick for more blow souls.

Final tier is three more fighters on the verge of going nutso, then we shank the president, free all the trapped souls and horse girl dies of the beast aids and the moral of the story is if a sketchy lalafell offers you fame and fortune kick the little shit into the ocean.

I am so close to the finish line, and I despise that I have to tap out for the day. It's utterly wild to have made it all the way to the level cap and to still have no actually found a single thing I enjoyed in the story - with the exception of getting the one guy a monster energy. I was mildly amused there for a whole five seconds.
The utter tonal whiplash in all of this, and the fact that this is an expansion without characters is still so hard for me to come to terms with. All this shit happens, and my immediate response is "who cares?" to every last single one.

These plotholes, though, are something else.

Erenville's mother communicates to him via linkpearl.
A character directly working with Erenville's mother says "Communications are blocked! I couldn't give warning about the attack!"
Alisaie immediately proves that linkpearls still function just fine
???

Sphene sees Otis, and hears people calling Otis "Otis" and yet is somehow surprised ten minutes later that the guy they were calling Otis is named Otis
Otis sees that Sphene just swaps between robot bodies and can't really die, and yet goes out of his way to protect her so he can "valiantly die" or something

Geode has never been introduced as a character even remotely aware of Galool Ja, or even aware that someone was helping to take care of him, and yet suddenly goes "oh, I guess he was taking care of the kid"

Erenville, whose entire characterization is supposed to be "shrewd and quick on his feet" takes forever to realize "no-one remembers her because she's fucking dead"
When did Erenville learn about the endless? Otis tells us about endless, but we don't meet Erenville and tell him about the concept prior to Living Memory. Sure, it's a minor thing, but we could've cut out one of the 50 "peace is so good, I'm wuk lamat" lines for maybe one of someone mentioning the idea to him

"I see - time did flow differently inside the dome" - Koana
Who told you this? How do random passerby know this? Jesus fucking christ this is so sloppy
If they moved Bene to 15 and Holy to 30 it'd be a lot better.
Eh, Bene can stay where it is, but getting Holy as late as they do is obscene. Sure, early-level dungeons would be trivialized by the stun, but they could easily split off holy into an AoE without a stun until the mid-40s and give a perk to add a stun on. The fact that you have no AoE options for such a long time is just cancer.
It would be nice if they made it into some sort of talent that encourages the use of Cure II.
Look, honestly, if a WHM uses cure II on me in a dungeon, I assume they're still a crayon-eater if just not eating as many crayons. Sure, in like 30-50 content it's whatever, but beyond that you just have so many tools.

Freecure should make cure I into a free OGCD, and should be rewarded for spamming stone/glare. Mind you, curebots would still curebot, as freecure isn't what's making them do that: it's the ability to watch netflix mid-dungeon.
GNB is the next tank i wanna level up, any advice?
Until Heart of Corundum, you're probably the squishiest tank. This isn't a huge issue in modern dungeons, but it can be in ARR/HW-style dungeons where truly enormous pulls are still possible. GNB gets an extra form of evasion in camouflage, but you should treat this one as one of the "minor" mitigations, realistically best paired with something else. The HoT the class has is fairly useful for holding pull aggro amidst W2Ws.

It's also probably the worst tank for saving runs, so keep that in mind. Warriors are an extra healer, Paladins have tons of defensive abilities to help friends, Dark Knights get TBN which isn't ideal to toss on someone else but is totally doable, and Gunbreakers... well, get Heart of Corundum, I guess?

Pray your roulettes don't land on Stone Vigil or earlier
Stone Vigil and Aurum Vale are pretty good and important bumps in difficulty, for a healer anyway, everything else before it you can just sleepwalk-heal through. Vigil is where the game should beat the Freecure fishing out of your head and Aurum Vale can teach you how to use Holy properly while dodging the mob aoes and has bosses where you actually need to take care of everyone. Dzemael Darkhold has that one spot with the frogs where it can be tricky if the tank fucks up and pulls the whole thing because of the tonguepull, but besides that I don't think there's any other place in ARR dungeons where you actually have to pay attention as a healer even with your starting gear.

Brayflox has those hornets with Final Sting that will fuck the tank up if your DPS are terrible and don't kill them fast enough or stun them (it hits for something like 80% of max HP) but that's pretty much it.

Abuse the regen you get at lvl 45, makes dungeons a breeze. You don't get your AoE burst for far too long (lvl72), so don't think you're playing wrong sitting at capped carts during mobs, that's just the way it is until then. Otherwise, it's the most dps-feeling tank, fairly simple once you get the loop but always satisfying. Just got it to 100 earlier this week (just all tanks at 100 now for prog). As with any tank, hit your buttons and rotate your mits and you'll be a better tank than 50%+ of tanks in this game.

I've been grinding out mats for the savage tier dropping, this is what my week has looked like:
1722287063896.png
~40M in melds later, mind you. That's the most painful system in the entire game, I don't look forward to doing it again for savage tomorrow. I lost 97 17% chances earlier, I don't even want to do the math to know how improbable that is.

I'm predicting 1600 scrip masterbooks, as we just had 1600 scrip folklore tomes, so for anyone else crafting make sure your capped on purp tonight. Capped Scrips + Custom Delivery + 20ish Collectables should be all 8 books, and you can prep ahead of time. I'm getting on the fishing collectable grind for the blue dust this evening and I should be ready for the markets tomorrow. Billions of gil are about to fly tomorrow, make sure you get yourselves a part of it.

The craziest part is I don’t even remember a single thing that happened in the story prior to I guess the abortion twist, the scenes with Otis (who is the best character in my opinion), and while I didn’t like the living memory as a concept, it did stick out in my mind especially with the final scene with Otis. Everything else, I don’t remember.

…except for Woke Lmao telling me thirty fucking times that we need to understand cultures.

Make sure to right click the Superbolide buff on your hotbar after using Superbolide to set your HP to 1 and turn off the invuln effect. This will force your healer to heal you up in a very short amount of time.

If you don't do this, then the odds that they go on a healer strike goes up.

It would be great if healers followed a bit on Sage's footsteps and gave you more incentives to deal constant damage

WHM has assize and Afflatus Solace, i think thats a decent approach from the opposite spectrum where healing gives you the chance to deal damage
Worst part though is that Afflatus Misery is a level 74 ability. So until then, you're missing probably the biggest part of WHM, the "damage refund" you get from Misery.

I've done both UWU and UCOB on WHM. It feels so bad man. Classes shouldn't be incomplete at level 70 like that.

Saw thay there was apparently a "Healers on strike" thing going on. Whats that about? I dont tend to follow the community(cause its mostly shit)

I've never heard anyone mention it ingame so it's basically a nothingburger.

tl;dr is that a lot of content can be cleared without a healer at all so some of them got mad about it. I think the DT preview where the first dungeon was cleared with no healer was what initially set them off. This has been a thing forever though (did you know DRK can solo most ARR dungeons?)

As a DRK main, i didnt know that. I mean that has been since forever, hell Warrior doesnt need a healer since he can just sustain himself. Honestly i see this as a W for healers since they get their job to be more easier and they get to pump out more damage. I swear the community of ff14 are whiny retards that complain about the dumbest shit at times, thats why i don't like to involve myself too much beyond friends and fellow FC members.
