A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.


But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

I don't know a ton about Tommy Robinson, but being a regular guy instead of a brilliant, well-resourced, 4D-chess-player doesn't mean he can't be a hero.

The regular guy willing to incur the wrath of every Regime institution to give a voice to the other 99% who can't risk their livelihoods and families is also heroic.

He doesn't give a voice to those people though. He grifts off of them and then uses the money to deflect their anger away from things that the elites don't want questioned, channelling into an edgy version of much more kosher beliefs.

The authentic White working class attitude on immigration is based on a lot of different factors (economic, societal, "they're just not us" etc). Robinson narrows this to focus only on areas that the elites are comfortable with opposing ("they groom and rape kids", "they commit terrorist attacks", "they treat women badly"). This allows it to be turned into a general opposition to Islam and "Islamism"/"political Islam", which allows him to extol the virtues of Israel ("only democracy in the middle east!") to the poor White boys who are expected to die for it.

Nativism -> opposition to specific practices of immigrants -> anti-Islamism -> neo-conservatism.

Point this out and he will call you a racist just like anyone else who takes issue with White people wanting their countries to survive as they are. This entire grift stops the formation of a genuine political movement that would give an intelligent voice to the concerns of the common people, and the Jeremy Kyle-esque optics of the man conditions others to view their own people with disgust.

I see him as a mixture of David Duke and Lindsey Graham. I despise him, not because he harms my people (everyone else does that already), but because he does so while pretending to help them. Even Judas felt remorseful; Yaxley-Lennon has convinced his victims that he is their messiah.

Tommy built up evidence of a cover up of the Syrian's behaviour from the local council, however as it was mostly Tommy with a hidden camera, talking to ex-teachers who had signed NDAs, this evidence was dismissed in court and he lost the case, ordered to never reveal the footage.

He's now released said footage.

My take: From a legal perspective it makes sense why the footage would be banned from leaving the court, and why he's been arrested for doing so. The sheer level of national brain rot that allowed this situation to happen in the first place is the real issue.

My take is whether or not Tommy is a retarded asshole (he is), that is absolute hot shit.

So he says something true, gets sued for libel for it, gets evidence it's true, it's thrown out over an NDA that someone else, not him, had signed, and then they get to vilify him publicly forever and he isn't allowed to produce the evidence that he isn't a liar.

Legally speaking if you violate an injunction like this you're going to get held in contempt at least, but I can't agree with the injunction at all.

Even in the U.S., if you violate an injunction, even if it's later found to be blatantly unconstitutional, you can still be held in contempt for it, but you can also always appeal an injunction (or a request to modify or dissolve one) immediately in an interlocutory way (that is while the case is still ongoing) and when it's First Amendment it will often be stayed pending that appeal.

So whatever my opinion of the dude (rather low) is, he's getting royally shafted here and this is some Orwellian horseshit.

He libelled (rather than defamed, since it was in a published work) a literal child over a school fight, lost the libel case, had to pay compensation and presumably part of the outcome of that case was that he was given an injunction to bar him from repeating/rebroadcasting the libellous/defamatory statements.

That's bull. He got the statements that proved what he said was true AFTER being sued for libel, they were excluded on a technicality, he lost the case because they decided to exclude his evidence, and then he got slapped with an injunction so that he can't even present the evidence to the public (or rather he can but now he is getting slapped with the injunction and it was rather imprudent to break it but imo it is basic civil disobedience).

Whatever other shit I may say about him, the guy has cojones, even though he's a little short in the marbles department.

Interesting that this has happened now though. Is this a sign of what Starmer's government will be like? Just arrest the opposition that tries and actually push back instead of playing designated controlled opposition?
