It's absolutely a blessing. I don't really have a lot of interest in Fallout but I can absolutely see why it's more of a happening topic. Fallout has had two (bad) games and a tv show in the last decade, and the discussion surrounding NV is engaging as ever. Oblivion and Skyrim aren't complex games and anyone who has exhaustively played Morrowind at this point has seen everything and talked about everything. If a decade ago Bethesda pivoted and made TES6 instead of FO4 and the final product was on par with FO4, I'd have left the fandom in disgust (I do not buy the cope that Bethesda changed anything about FO4 because of NV).>Fallout thread is more popular than Elder Scrolls thread
ES fans are starving for official content to talk about, though imo that's a blessing in disguise. Much as I think modders do what Bethesda can't be bothered or can't constantly do, there's not much to actively talk about until a major mod release drops.
There are legal adults out there that will voote come November who were kindergarteners when Skyrim came out. They have no concept of what an Elder Scrolls is and Skyrim is that game their dad used to play. In their mind, Fallout is the crappy game Internet Historian made a video about.
