There's some truth to it but it's not /pol/ that was the problem. It was the larger changing culture where repeating the same meme again and again was taking over the site. You can see it in people like yourself still using wojak edits years after it should have been dead. Imageboard culture stagnated and /r9k/s memes were being used on /pol/ when time froze.

It's usually outsiders and newfags who think that 4chan is this place where you can start some sort of a movement and use the board as your personal army, before they find out most people on the site are mentally ill losers who can't accomplish anything or get told to fuck off. The nature of the board, and why everybody is so toxic comes from many topics not being allowed anywhere else on the site, naturally making /pol/ the containment board instead of letting it create it's own culture organically.
