Damn

I wish I wasn’t retarded and understood how to short stocks, I have a couple grand I could use for that.
It's not that hard.

Basically to short something means you are "betting" it will go down in value.

Ergo, you can short outright by simply selling now and buying back when it goes down.

Or, you can purchase an "put option", which is a "derivative" that increases in value as the stock decreases.

The solution is to build more affordable housing and institute programs to get that housing to the people who need it.
Stop
Telling
The
Government
To
Fix
Shit
Thank
You
Its not the immigrants who at most exacerbate a problem.
It's a multifaceted problem for sure, as you said.

This however is claiming that the gasoline being sprayed through a firehouse at your blazing home is "exacerbating the problem".
How can you argue there isn't an issue with supply when all over the west there is an ongoing phenomenon of luxury housing sitting empty while people cant find places to live?
Forgive me but the way you phrased this has me wondering, do you think luxury housing "sitting empty" is a problem in and of itself? If so what do you think should be 'done about it'?

Yeah the market is collapsing and there's no one at the White House but vinyl, yassss, yasssss, black music, yaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssssss:

Lol she has a taste in music like a gen z kid, not those particular artists really but she wants an unquestionable starter pack, what I'm trying to say is if she was white sheda walked out of there with def Leppard nirvana, Beatles and no one else lesser known except maybe a Tori Amos or something lame to show she's got broad tastes

I can tell you don't understand the issue at all. Do you know why only luxury housing is being built in major cities? It's because it's not subject to rent controls. Developers aren't going to build housing that loses money. Even Krugman knows that rent control is a bad policy that only makes housing shortages worse.

Kick out all the illegals you want, you still wont be able to afford a house on an average joe's income

Developers don't make money sitting on empty properties either. Even the expensive cuts of meat at the grocery store get marked down when they go unsold for too long and need to be cleared from the shelves. Why do you believe that housing does not follow basic economic principles?

You can make another app. You can raise more cattle. You can't create more land in desirable locations.

I don't think having properties sitting empty in itself is 'the problem'
Its the fact we keep building more when there's acute societal need for housing that only grows with time. So we're not building places for people to live, we're building investments, and if people happen to end up living in them then that's just coincidental.

Maybe one day there will a bubble pop and houses will come down in value so that average people can afford them again but I wouldn't bet on it.
To clarify: I'm not saying that open borders isn't contributing to the problem in more ways than just immigrants taking up housing. Foreign scab labor also intrinsically depreciates the value of domestic labor which fucks with anyone's ability to afford anything.
Both of these issues share a common thread though. The people who like importing cheap foreign labor are also the same people constraining housing to inflate its value.

Im not arguing for rent control. Being a nation of renter-serfs who own nothing isn't exactly an improvement. I also don't think outside of the most basic broad strokes that housing as a commodity is comparable to cuts of meat which have a finite shelf life and are meant to be immediately consumed and used up nor do they appreciate in value after purchasing. But lets imagine they did!

Lets imagine a world where steaks appreciate in value after you hold onto them for a few years. You think there wouldn't be people out to buy and hoard as much beef as they can so they can grow their wealth? Would you ever even be able to afford steak as a food item again? You can have an investment or a consumable good. You can't always have your steak and eat it too

Of course it's a bullshit PR stunt. Why is she buying one of her favorite albums of all time? Shouldn't she already have it?

Maybe she'll play some of them at her campaign rallies. It's better than the stupid "twerk yo' ass" shit she was using last week.

"That food in your cupboard and your fridge is just sitting there uneaten. You should never have food in your cupboard or fridge longer than a day! The government should take that food away from you and give it to anybody currently in the country who isn't White or who wants to enter the country, as long as they're not White."

Look I get it, it's a problem with language and the peculiarities of human psychology's coexistence with it that leads to situations like this, problems like this even. So allow me to hopefully help crack you out of your own brainpan a bit.

We aren't doing shit. Companies who build houses are doing shit. Real estate companies are doing shit. The market is doing shit.

This "we" problem is how as a society - the correct usage of the collective, grand "we" - end up with people confused like you seem to be about problems and the nature of problems that have to do with, specifically, things getting fucked up by trying to solve problems "we" have caused in the first place by thinking they can be fixed with government action.

Because when you say "we" like most others who suffer from your condition, you also erroneously include the government in that collective as if the government has ever given a single solitary fuck about your ability to find housing as if it's a member of your community.

It's a problem caused by the government hand-in-glove with moneyed interests like every single thing the fuck else, the best the government can and should do is stay the fuck out of it for once.
