Oh look! The national guardsman and the Navy reservists are lecturing active duty soldiers and Marines on what it takes to be a veteran.

Maybe it was just my experience, but if you came in during the height of the war, you weren't allowed to call yourself a veteran without a combat deployment. Going to Malta or Dubai and partying non-stop for 6 months didn't count. We had a word for guys that served but never deployed. They were called a "boot." If you were a boot, you were barely treated with dignity by your fellow Marines. The day you got back from your first real deployment, you were treated with respect for the rest of your career, and any boots, regardless of rank, were under you in an unspoken way. Even if your Captain came into the shop and started going off, once he would leave, your SSgt or Gunny would come up and tell you not to listen to that boot faggot until he's paid his dues. If your highest ranking medal was the red/yellow one that everyone gets for joining during war time, you were embarrassed to wear your dress uniform around Marines that had done real deployments.

Gotta say, I miss Trump. I can't listen to him for too long but the pure marketing, pure salesmanship he is constantly utilizing is hilarious to listen to.
