I dont understand how people can see this and be excited.
The only thing it has going for it is that it is Star Wars. However it in no way at all looks like it will appeal or satisfy anything I like about Star Wars or would hope to get out of a new Star Wars production. If anything, I'd probably be more interested if it was just its own sci-fi universe and I'm sure being tied to Star Wars was a lead weight around the neck of the creative process.
Anyone else to a hard cringe at the twinkle chimes?
KK deciding for a Star Wars project to be an 80s Speilberg nostalgia show about a group of 10 year olds girls is seemingly exactly what we'd expect but also too unbelievably retarded to think they actually would.
I will be kind though, I don't think it looks like garbage. It just looks AI scripted, like a million things that have come before but set in Star Wars. Not something made for me.
It's a common joke about all YA material these days being about a young girl who doesn't want her future decided yet who is special and goes on an adventure for some reason. Also how much of this 80s nostalgia stuff are people really into?
No one saw or remembers JJ's film about the kids and the monster set in the 80s. No one even saw Speilbergs film nostalgic on himself. Stranger Things did well but the 80s thing was just the setting, its success went by the first season being decent. I have no idea about the rest because I never watched them. Ghostbuster nostalgia couldn't save a shit film, and then the one that did decently was because it was an apology and closer to what they should have done the first time. It's sequel didn't have much success.
I assume an argument for this show would to create new fans. I don't think they do well with the young folk, but in trying to appeal to non-Star Wars fans and people not drawn to Star Wars. Why would it actually then create new Star Wars fans? It really is more of just trying to turn Star Wars into a girl brand.
