Not that much. If you process people, as one should (not that it's happening much), then they have ID. If you are awaiting refugee status, then they are given money, support, etc... Also a lot of the issues are caused by dual-citizens (ie British citizenship).

If you have stayed in the UK for 5 years you can apply for citizenship. There is a pitiful test to take. Also the practice books for the test are available in different languages (someone correct me, I think the test must be done in English tho).

Provide *the bare minimum* you have to legally. I'm talking tent camps in the middle of nowhere, ration stamps, and default holding times.

How about building prisons? What you are proposing is a Roma encampment, and we all know how great those are!

• Who wants to learn dutch? Not that they speak English well, but it is easier to learn and I think there is more the idea of "learn English" (ie learn a couple of words) than "learn dutch, german, etc...".
• Family/friends are already there and they claim they have a job ready for when they get there
• You can blend in more - compared to the rest of Europe, the UK has had a lot more "POC" (for lack of a better term)
• If you have time to waste, you can probably find the answer on TikTok or other social media. I know they give each other advice that way theoretically, but don't know specifics.

Also, maybe most importantly, most stay in Greece, Italy and Spain where they arrive. They then try to go to Germany and France. From the ones who reach France, some then want to go to the UK. So really you are just getting a small fraction.

An initial trial date was identified in January but Judge Simon Drew KC said such cases needed to be expedited because they were 'important to the public generally and need to be dealt with quickly'.

Important question - has anyone seen anyone trying to fundraise for those in prison (or their families)?
I think people have different roles to play. If you have the money, it is probably more useful to stay at your job rather than becoming unemployed because of a post on your Linkedin account.
While I don't think it is appropriate to sentence to jail for more than a year the woman jailed for posting about blowing up a mosque, at least there is some type of threat. But the guy who just posted emoji?? Why would he plead guilty and not try for a trial?

He may have been advised, probably correctly, that he was going to be found guilty and to not piss the courts off by time-wasting.

You're entitled to a lesser sentence, or very occasionally if there's enough dark dealing in the background you may be charged with a lesser offence, if you agree to plead guilty and allow the court to skip a full trial.

Plea bargains are not part of UK law, its more usual to plead to what your charged with because the CPS will usually not go for the most severe crime anyway if they're not confident they will win. If they've charged you with something, they're fairly confident they will win so you might as well just accept it.

When they're not so upset about something, they might also conversely charge for a lesser offence, or not at all, to avoid upsetting sections of "The Public".

But I would imagine they are now as pissed off as they can be and will want to make an example out of you. In a month or two no one will care. Also, if you have to go to prison for two years, why not go in for 3 or 4 and show how ridiculous the whole process it?
A big fundraiser would also give a big middle finger to the media and show what people actually believe behind closed doors.

Do you/anyone know if there are ways to follow a process like people do in the US for the various lolsuits that are being tracked elsewhere on the forum? I know the US is particularly open with information on lawsuits, but is there anything available at all publicly in the UK?

There are places in the USA that're similar. Dearborn, MI for example.

That's true, but those cases are considered the exception and not the rule. Typically people are arrested for words in America if they make some kind of easily executable plan to mass murder people, and I think that's more or less fine. The police would seem incompetent if someone was literally posting plans for murder, and then murdered people without any intervention. With that said, I'm positive there's cases where people are charged with hate crimes just for speaking in the US of A.

The problem is, as I said before, those are considered exceptions and not the rule here. In the UK, it seems like people are commonly visited by police for mean twitter posts and what not. Something has gone wrong over there with the elected officials and I think the citizens should either vote them out, or riot and be nuisances to the government until they relax some laws.
