Mega Rad Gun Thread

If you could bring one discontinued firearm back into production what would it be? Mine would be the HK P7M13.

Definitely the crossfire system. I want to see it get the semi auto treatment it deserves. The original design was supposed to be semi auto, so we should give it a second chance as a semi auto.

Another would be the Marlin Golden 39A. I've heard they're still in production but it sure doesn't seem that way.
Doesn't look like it according to Marlin's website. Ruger gutted Marlin's .22 production to not compete with themselves and I guess that even includes the lever-action.

Turns out it's a whole ordeal to get an RMR footprint onto an SP-01 Shadow slide, need an adapter plate and such.

Thinking to get the RMSc footprint done instead, is there any compatibility with the Holosun K-footprint or are they just different enough to not be compatible?

I believe the Holosun k foot print doesn't have the 2 posts at the rear like the RMRcc does. If you want to put a holoson k on the rmrcc you need to file/grind off the rear two posts or get an adapter plate.

Thanks, sounds like it may make sense to just get it milled for the K footprint and slap a Holosun 507K on it directly.

What are some other good options right now for a compact pistol optic?

The only one I'd bother with is the Holosun EPS CARRY. If you're getting it milled for a footprint, ask the people doing it for the Holosun K footprint. (What the eps carry uses)

I may just do that instead of the 507K as I like the enclosed emitter more. It won't be a carry gun, but should still be more robust than an open emitter.

I used to carry a holosun 407 and it would constantly get filled with body hair and pet hair and lint and grease. So i switched to the holosun 509t and haven't looked back.
I just switched from an sro to an acro because of that same issue. Way easier dealing with two flat surfaces rather than trying to get the crap out from inside the hood.

Yeah, makes sense. I've had to clean out snow and mud from inside a Holosun 510 multiple times so I can see that being a pain in the ass on an even smaller optic, even at a flat range.

MP-412 REX. I just want me a modern top break six shooter.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who wants a modern top-break revolver. I feel like it could totally be doable with modern metallurgy and weapon design to build a modern top-break that can handle magnum loads. I'd love to have one in .41 Magnum.

I want red dots on more of my pistols. I never eschewed them, rather I simply purchased the vast majority of my pistols prior to dots being so commonplace. I bring this up to ask the board if any of you have sent slides off for milling work. I'm thinking of doing this on my M&Ps, possibly on my SP-01 Shadow too (which I was stoked to hear that @Badungus Kabungus owns also. I love that pistol). Interested to hear about recommendations for/against and experiences.

My only real recommendation is to make sure your gun can be milled in the first place. Not all guns have the internal geometry to support a slide cut. things like strikers/extractor roll pins can get in the way, and if you care about backup irons, you might not have any space for one at all.
Otherwise, just do your homework on whoever you're sending a slide to. Bubba's machine shop is often cheaper for a reason; make sure you know why before sending in your pistol. If it's a gun you care about, spend the money on the more expensive guy.

To all the NFA kiwi’s, I could use your thoughts and recommendations. I just completed my ATF form 4 for my first can today, a HUXWRX Ventum 762. It’ll be for my AR15s and AR10s. However I’m a little stumped on a good can for my 9mm AR9’s, pistols, etc as well as which can for my 10/22 plinker. I would like to get those purchased sooner rather than later to make use of the quicker approval times. Any advice?

I wish Smith would bring the 10mm 3rd gen FBI guns back. I'm so fucking sad that I didn't pick one up when they were everywhere for $600.

I love my 5946, and its the "bad" DAO one. Once you get the trigger down its such a smooth gun.

I may be a little biased, but Energetic Arms makes both a 9mm and .22lr can that are a lot like the Vox S. They're reasonably priced, excellent quality, the 9mm can take any quick change mount that uses the Hub threads, and the .22lr can is able to be set up in two different lengths. I believe Huxwrx has a 9mm can called the Cash 9k, and they also have a .22lr can. Their 9mm can uses the same flow-thru design as their 5.56mm and 7.62mm rifle cans, and I believe it has Hub threads as well, so can use any mount or piston that uses those threads. SilencerCo is another excellent brand that would be high on my list of considerations.
