some people might not agree with me on this but I do feel pity for phil, for some he is a truly bad person (can't blame them) but you can tell he never had any sort of role model to guide him during his whole life
Not sure about that. From what we've seen, Dave is a more or less well-adjusted boomer dad who tried. We know that he didn't kick Phil's ass or anything like that. He probably had a hard time understanding his retarded son's fascination with videogames and his "tough love" didn't work as intended, but as far as parents go, Phil was far from getting a shitty dad who abused him. Linda on the other hand seemed to coddle him too much, turning him into the spoiled, entitled manchild he is today. He had a family that provided, fed and loved him, even if not on the right amounts.
As for friends, John was much more than he ever deserved. He stuck by him through thin and thick, he defended him, he was there to help him, and yet Phil always took him for granted. He got jealous when people liked him and constantly tried to treat him more like a sidekick instead of an equal. Leanna loved him truly and wanted Phil to go out into the world. If he wasn't such a selfish piece of shit, he could have grown and matured, but all he saw was a maid who cooked and cleaned for him.
Even now, despite getting away with bankruptcy fraud, he's learned nothing. Phil loves to talk about how hard his life is, but he's gotten away with everything to the point it's comical. He was given a blank slate and went back on repeating the same mistakes, acting like his parents owe him, like his audience is responsible for him surviving and thriving, whining every single day despite having a so-called dream job. He is a bad person, he has showed zero empathy towards the way he treats his family, friends and fans. Your upbringing can only excuse you so much, and Phil's wasn't even that bad.
It'd be one thing if he fucked up and he showed some remorse, but he truly has never shown any.
