With a name like Killzone, would that even fly today? probably not. What if you told people in 2009, while they were enjoying an actual fun game lacking any sort of propaganda like Killzone 2,
I think visually, Oblivion's UI looks great, but yes, functionally, Oblivion's UI, for PC at least, is totally butchered from Morrowind's, mainly so that it could be consolified as easy as possible.oblivion's ui sucks too though. Morrowind let you resize and move your windows to customize your character screen
2009 was where it started. What if you told people in 2009, while they were enjoying an actual fun game lacking any sort of propaganda like Killzone 2, that in just a few short years the gaming industry would be controlled by mentally ill activists who demand that every female character in a game looks like an ugly tranny and insist on such insane censorship that Jack Thompson, the biggest villain in the industry at the time, would look normal in comparison? Remember how amazing we thought gaming would be shortly with more advanced technology, only for it in reality to largely turn into "progressive", buggy, broken slop that isn't even worth playing for free immediately after that generation?
It's definitely a different timeKillzone 2 came out 15 years ago and is, to me, a graphical masterpiece.
I think of the PS3/360 era as the silver age of gaming. It's the last time that game studios were still trying to awe the player and make the coolest game they could. There were cracks showing...but today, this same studio is more focused on making sure you have it beat into your head that only a bigot wants to see a pretty face on a woman.
Legit nobody here, reporting for dutyNowadays unless it's an indie game legit nobody cares about
Every Bethesda, and Bethesda-adjacent, game has a terrible UI. Skyrim's perk menu might be pretty but it's a goddamn nightmare to navigate. I don't know how you fuck up scrolling through a branching list that hard.oblivion's ui sucks too though. Morrowind let you resize and move your windows to customize your character screen
Bethesda has a habit of succeeding in spite of awful design decisions.Every Bethesda, and Bethesda-adjacent, game has a terrible UI. Skyrim's perk menu might be pretty but it's a goddamn nightmare to navigate. I don't know how you fuck up scrolling through a branching list that hard.
Don't worry when they fail they just shut down unrelated studios. "Starfield didn't sell? Guess we'll shut down that studio that just made an original breakout hit"Bethesda has a habit of succeeding in spite of awful design decisions.
That's Bioware for you. Even back in their heyday, all of games they put out had some form of progressive bullshit shoehorned into it.2009 was where it started.
I love Dragon Age Origins to death, but playing that game now you can see a lot of stupid socio-political shit spouted by every one of the "good" or "interesting" companions. Hell even the world building is full of it.
Though maybe rpgs are more susceptible to exploitation by degenerates.
Hell, the third Gears of War game came out in 2011 and (up to and including that game) the series was perfect.
It was because the games provide a good base for mods, so players can customize the game to their liking. Modders fixed the games up. That isn't happening with Starfield though, because the game was so bad that modders aren't even bothering.Bethesda has a habit of succeeding in spite of awful design decisions.
Idk how retarded you have to be to have trouble navigating it in the first place. Seems like the bigger issue to me.Every Bethesda, and Bethesda-adjacent, game has a terrible UI. Not only that, but didn't Jack Thompson at some point actually come around to realizing that bing bing wahoo didn't turn people into school shooters? At the very least I seem to remember his stance softening somewhat and now he busies himself with other things, since he's apparently been disbarred for being a "vexatious litigant" or something along those lines. It's basically the same people. They're moral busybodies that just latch onto whatever is easiest to use for Karening. If wokeness were to disappear tomorrow, they would turn around and start Bible-thumping.Redditors like to whine and complain about the "Satanic Panic" and soccer moms wanting to ban D&D or Doom because of Columbine or devil-worship, and yeah a lot of those people were pretty obnoxious but they pale in comparison to the modern variant of retarded wokescold. Perhaps mostly because the retarded wokescold actually has institutional power and influence.
I'm guessing you've never tried browsing it with a keyboard. There's maybe a 50% chance the camera will pan to the perk you expect it to when you press a key.Idk how retarded you have to be to have trouble navigating it in the first place. Seems like the bigger issue to me.

Interesting to see how people could see it so differently.yeah kind of, I still think its preferable to the late 2000s 7th gen piss filter and gray buildings shit that was going on then
I don't know about Dragon Ages beyond the obvious 'Elf discrimination' aspect, but even Bioware back then was a lot more tame than today. Mass Effect trilogy is filled with titillation - it's supposed to be a parody of cheesy old school sci-fi tv shows, the concept of a species of blue space babes and all the girls characters running around in tight suits showing their buttocks. The only bit that feels 'forced' to me is the autistic guy being held up to chirp with robots in the second game - you'd imagine that in the future the technology would be advanced enough that human would understand the brain enough that they'd stop using a label we came up in the 1940s. That's the problem with sci-fi writers in general, they can make up rules so that FTL can happen but they don't understand that the DSM is made up by committees. That's Bioware for you. Even back in their heyday, all of games they put out had some form of progressive bullshit shoehorned into it.
skyrim's ui literally doesnt work, it freezes up randomly will skill over options, the skill tree isnt grid aligned even though it only accepts cardinal inputs you can hit up then down and wont end up on the same point half the time because where each node flows to is totally random at times.Idk how retarded you have to be to have trouble navigating it in the first place. Seems like the bigger issue to me.
I think the piss-filter era is a mixed bag graphic wise, there are 'boring' kind of piss filter and games that are trying to do something interesting with it like Deus Ex Human Revolution - where the artstyle is doubling the orange down to eleven, or Spec Ops The Line, which turned the bloom of that era into dreamlike atmosphere. But it does feel like the last era where the AAA gaming companies were ambitious enough to create something with good gameplay. In some way, the generic military tough guy of the piss filter era is a marketing tool just like the woke diversity is a tool of today. However the woke diversity is a lot more pervasive and top-down, and it is a lot more lacking in energy and charm. It's much more agenda-driven. And I am not hopeful about indie either, because it's now filled with unreal engine landfill made by lazy devs who think they can make a good game by plopping things down the UE.
This seems like one of those situations where it's a "miles may vary" thing. I've never had the UI freeze or skip over options in the shameful amount of hours I've put in between console and PC. Or it's a literal skill/hardware issue. I'm not sure. Either way, my personal experience contradicts yours which means I'm right and you're not. I dont make the rules, man.skyrim's ui literally doesnt work, it freezes up randomly will skill over options, the skill tree isnt grid aligned even though it only accepts cardinal inputs you can hit up then down and wont end up on the same point half the time because where each node flows to is totally random at times.
