Two members of Donald Trump's campaign staff had a verbal and physical altercation Monday with an official at Arlington National Cemetery, where the former president participated in a wreath-laying ceremony, NPR has learned.

A source with knowledge of the incident said the cemetery official tried to prevent Trump staffers from filming and photographing in a section where recent U.S. casualties are buried. The source said Arlington officials had made clear that only cemetery staff members would be authorized to take photographs or film in the area, known as Section 60.

When the cemetery official tried to prevent Trump campaign staff from entering Section 60, campaign staff verbally abused and pushed the official aside, according to the source.

Trump participated in an event to mark the third anniversary of a deadly attack on U.S. troops in Afghanistan as U.S. forces withdrew from the country; 13 U.S. service members were killed in the attack. The Trump campaign has blamed President Biden and Vice President Harris, now the Democratic presidential nominee, for the chaotic withdrawal.

In a statement to NPR, Steven Cheung, the Trump campaign's spokesman, strongly rejected the notion of a physical altercation, adding: "We are prepared to release footage if such defamatory claims are made.

"The fact is that a private photographer was permitted on the premises and for whatever reason an unnamed individual, clearly suffering from a mental health episode, decided to physically block members of President Trump's team during a very solemn ceremony," Cheung said in the statement.

The Trump campaign declined to make that footage immediately available.

In a statement to NPR, Arlington National Cemetery said it "can confirm there was an incident, and a report was filed."

"Federal law prohibits political campaign or election-related activities within Army National Military Cemeteries, to include photographers, content creators or any other persons attending for purposes, or in direct support of a partisan political candidate's campaign," according to the statement. "Arlington National Cemetery reinforced and widely shared this law and its prohibitions with all participants."

It’s weird they’re making Walz Kamala’s handler when Walz is fucked up enough on his own.
I can't believe her cabinet/crew thought this was a good idea to begin with.

After 4 days of "muh women" to the point where 2010's feminism felt like it never left, this is just going to come across as Kamala Harris, the woman, needing a man to help her out.

It goes against everything she and everyone else on the DNC stage preached about.

yah, I've said that a few times.

With Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin all of the table that pretty much means the end. The time to turn the tables has past as all those new voting laws are still on the books in the swing states so I don't expect anything different from 2020. Trump will do well in the non-fortified states but just like in 2020 he will hit the wall after Florida and never pass 232 votes again.

Now of course I hope I am wrong but I just don't see what has changed legally in the last 4 years in the critical states.

What's the old saying? Doing the exact same thing over but expecting a different result...?
While I understand and agree with your frustration over the failure to push election security laws over the last few years, I think your conclusion is based upon a flawed premise.

Namely, that election security laws are the only thing which prevents the DNC from rigging elections. And that their inadequacy was the only thing which allowed 2020.
We can see this flaw demonstrated through a simple theoretical. Suppose Pennsylvania had no election security laws. But suppose also that everyone in Pennsylvania voted for trump. I mean 100% turnout, 100% for trump. It would plainly be impossible for the DNC to rig that election successfully.

We can thus see that insufficient election security laws alone are not a prerequisite for rigging elections. Rather, it requires a lack of security and a set of circumstances that can be rigged.

Now this raises the obvious question: what are those circumstances? Frankly, I’m not entirely sure. But I can say that we do have materially different conditions now compared to 2020. And I would argue that based upon this, it is not logical to argue that the mere fact election laws haven’t changed means trump will lose. Rather, you also need to argue the conditions are still sufficient to allow that. And I don’t think you’ve yet done that.

Trump campaign is fully committed to harvesting dem mail-in balloots this time, unlike in 2020. Couple that with polls deliberately depressing his numbers and pumping up his opponent's again (and that again is for every Republican candidate for the last generation), donks aren't gonna have to cram in an extra 2-3% at 3am, it's gonna have to be well north of 5%. And whatever doomers may tell you, it's a hell of a lot harder to do 5, 6, 7, 8% at 3am than it is 2-3%

You may as well say Trump will lose then. He’d have to win Michigan in your scenario, and if we’re going to work off this theory that state governors will just rig elections, then Whitmer will rig that one. I’m sure she’s just as eager to get DNC favor as Shapiro. Not to mention trump is polling worst there of all swing states.

I don’t see any logical reason to write off Pennsylvania but not the other necessary swings.
Hence my own dooming and me telling you guys that this is going to come down to the poll watchers. If you guys haven't signed up, it's time to do so.

I'll never get tired of using this GIF on doomers.
"Waaaah! The West has fallen so I'll say the same shit 50 fucking times because you just have to know the West has fallen!"

If you think it's already lost then spare me the impotent whining because it adds nothing to the discussion.

How's about we wait and see what will happen instead of crying like a pathetic faggot?
How bout voting and applying as a ballot collector at your local school? Like people got to quit dooming

Entirely this. There will be fraud - there's always fraud - but the margins are a major unknown right now. For example if Trump is in a position to win Pennsylvania by ~5% it's over, there's no running up the dead fast enough to overcome such a lead.

Another aspect to consider too is Copmala's recent "policy" offerings like copying Trump's no tax on tips. That guaranteed is because there's internal polling showing her getting reamed in Nevada (particularly Clark county) - and if they're terrified of legitimately losing Nevada the same idea applies to the Rust Belt. Doubly so when Fetterman of all people admits Trump is on course to win his state.

Don't get complacent and think it's a sure thing, but the conditions are much better than they were in 2020.

Weird how people who took doompills in the morning never wonder "is there anything I can do to stop this?". Either being a poll watcher or convincing a friend to vote. There is always something to do, and you'll feel good afterwards, I've had fun times meeting random people.

Beats waiting and doing nothing.

I think flag burning, as long as it's your property, is ok. Same with fag flag, koran, all of it. Don't care. But if they ban real flag burning won't lose sleep either over it. Just another stupid thing to get worked up over really.

If you're burning an American flag shouting "DEATH TO AMERICA", while protesting on behalf of a terrorist organization, you don't think some form of punishment should befall some of these dumb fucking kids at college "Pro Palestine" protests?

Cheating is a game with razor thin margins. In 2020, they could better thumb the scales since a lot of people voted by mail, making the drops easier, along with high anti-trump sentiment creating the air of believability. Now, things are shit, and the Dems are offering up a drunk that's too scared to do interviews by herself while Trump at least has said he plans to harvest and is encouraging Rep poll watchers to hold the line.

Could he just ask the electors who go to him to then cast their votes to Trump?
If he won any yes, but these are winner-take-all states. If the popular vote goes 49-47-4 in favor of Kamala, she gets all the electors for the state, while Trump and RFK get none.

it's all well and good to poll watch, but I can't hustle my ass up to Pennsylvania to do it there

Shapiro knows that he will need their support and blessing if he wants to get the nom.

He really doesn't as long as he can win enough state primaries because with Biden gone there's none of the old guard left to be put forward. Obama has no protege of his own to put forward (Michele will not run either) and the same is true for Clinton on top of her being far too old. Biden was the last of them and everyone else was driven off to make way for Hillary's anointment, only for that to flop horribly. Bernie may try to run again, but he'll be 86 in 2028. Kamala will be done if she loses this year.

Shapiro's path to nomination is looking better than Newsom given California is looking worse and worse every year and Newsom can be blamed for so much of the state's failures. Shapiro may have a harder time beating out Whitmer, but he can still position himself as a strong choice for VP, particularly because PA will be in play and Newsom brings nothing with California given it's going blue no matter who is chosen. His biggest impediment will probably be the growing anti-Israel contingent of the party, but that doesn't preclude him from being a VP selection. He's also young enough that serving two terms as Vice President wouldn't preclude him from running for President afterwards due to age.

it's all well and good to poll watch, but I can't hustle my ass up to Pennsylvania to do it there

If the Republicans haven't already lined up people to do this and more, they deserve to get cheated out of the election.
