The next expansion will be great, haha. Right guys?
Probably gonna replace all the other VAs with illiterate trannies too. Or give us two more expansions of Wuk since he said he thinks part of the problem was them rushing past stuff in the story, so that we can "grow more attached" to the character.

I dunno you'd think they'd have learned from this shitshow and had the sense to fire Sena by now (not hire more of his ilk), as he continues to tweet stuff like this (while repping for the game):

The answer completely misses why people dislike the character, even discounting the troon VA. The issue isn't that she isn't that "she needs to be more confident", it's that she needs to go away for 5 minutes.

Keep in mind that our illustriously high-hairlined VA is strictly an English audio problem, so it's probably pretty under the radar for him. Wuk Lamat sucking ass as a character crosses borders. I'm pretty shocked he's completely missed the point of basically everyone's main complaints.

People tend to forget that Yoshi-P's job is to be a hype-man for his game, and you can really see that in effect here. Of course he's not going to acknowledge that the reception is way, way worse than anyone would have expected: you don't do that as a businessman. Only when it's really, really, really bad -- and DT's story sucking ass just isn't on the scale of 1.0.
I mean, in fairness, that is how I would expect someone to look when they walk in to apply for a west-coast Starbucks job.

What city are they from? Those hardwood floors look nice, so one already gets the impression of trustie nonsense at play. Slumlord apartments (which I still wouldn't really expect a VA with that... 'range' to be able to afford) are a lot trashier. But I almost repeat myself - if you break down the demographics on troonery, it's almost all concentrated in yuppietown USA.

lmao i missed the che in the background what a fucking poser

Reminder, this is the guy that didn't think that RMT tells were a problem until he went onto an NA server for an event and immediately got spammed.

I'm out of the loop with FFXIV and have only played up through 3.5 several years ago. Can someone fill me in on what the apparent uproar is about Dawntrail without getting deep into spoilers? The only thing I'm aware of is that the main NPC of the expansion Wuk Lamat is voiced by a troon in English.

Wuk Lamat's english VA is only a very small part of it, the character herself is bad even in other languages. She's omnipresent through the whole expansion(and you're doing things on her behalf even in the few cases she isn't present) to the point of pushing other characters that were supposed to have major parts to the sidelines. The actual plot was everywhere between incredibly dull and utterly nonsensical, almost all of the characters acted like idiots, and it gave the player little reason to care about getting involved.

Yeah, as much as we rail on the tranny VA, the terrible voice is only 1 facet of why she's so widely disliked as even the Japs dislike her.
The real issue isn't Wuk's character or that she's just a run of the mill shounen trope. It's in how she is presented and how the writer sidelines characters that have had more established presence and relevance to the world in favor of giving her more screen time than she actually needs, to the point where characters that people have developed bonds with for several years have to watch them basically make way for a new person conceived specifically for this expansion and in which the world seems to bend and revolve around her specifically. Krile namely seems to always get the shortend of everything. Despite being set up for a story in which she grows and stands firmly on her own 2 feet to take the initiative instead of being content with just being a background figure, ultimately she is made exactly into that, a background figure who's relevance to the plot is so minuscule, that I have to wonder why they even bothered to include it. I would even go as far as to say it's malicious. To deceive your playerbase into believing that a character that has been around since Heavensward is finally getting the opportunity to spread her wings only to then snuff her flame out in the most unceremonious fashion is a fucking insult to our intelligence. You can't wave a slice of fresh meat in front of a hungry lion and expect not to get mauled.

Wuk Lamat shouldn't have had so much screen time as she did. Instead her desire to win the throne and the contest should've been a backdrop to the real interesting points of the story, namely, Krile's origins and Zoraal Ja's complicated feelings towards his family, himself and the world he was raised in. Main characters don't need to be so heavily placed at the forefront of everything. A good protagonist knows how to step away to allow another person to shine in the spotlight and knows to not overstay their welcome. If the main character has to snuff everyone and everything else out to hog the limelight all the time, people will grow disinterested and bored with being served the same slop. Especially when that character has no real legs to stand on. Also, Wuk's whole sea sickness thing got on a lot of people's nerves too. That kind of stuff can be endearing, but not with someone people find insufferable.

Established characters are harried even further by the introduction of yet even more new people into the story past the midway point. You have too many people fighting to have a presence and characters who are long overdue for their own slice of the pie are even further buried. By the end, all of the initial reasons why people got excited for the expansion were toned down to be nothing more but a quiet fart drifting off in the wind. Everything just hackneyed together haphazardly. Everyone hates Dawntrial because we all got a story that we didn't ask for or want. A story that was not advertised to us. They promised us a carefully crafted sundae and instead handed us a half melted popsicle that looks like it was dropped on the floor several hundred times.

If you try to stuff too much into a jar, eventually it's gonna break and just spill everything everywhere and make a mess. Then what you're left with is no one being happy and a mess you now have to clean up.

Such a waste of potential. Now they have to scramble to make things right through patch story.

I'd say it was being too much a side character to "our" story, being shoehorned into one thing where so much more could've been possible, and a few too many contrivances. I think they gambled on people liking one singular person too much to the extent it became the single point of failure.

I have returned to WoW.
The base expac is absolutely fucking awful and the only redeeming factor is the arcadion.
I cannot imagine the patches being fun unless that planet exploration changes a bunch.

WoW really changed alot after the whole Bobby fiasco, flying as been revamped, game rewards now more exploration as well.
Only bad thing is that there is no Horde Vs Alliance stories anymore, the war in warcraft.

Might pick ffxiv later again but not for a long while.

If yoshi had balls he would include kingdom hearts as a raid serie. Also please no multiverse shit, i had enough of that.
We're getting the Nier Expansion (Nier's already canon to FFXIV thanks to the raid series so it's unironically plausible). Nier 3 will be a FFXIV expansion. Imagine the seethe from Nier fans.

I see. Do you suspect Wuk Lamat would've been accepted had she appeared more human rather than a lion on two legs, or would the appealing visage of a cute anime girl not be able to mask her issues?

Futhermore, are there complaints about the expansion besides the story? Like concerning the new zones, new jobs, and previous job changes.

See: Lyse. Doubtful. There's a reason she's dubbed Lyse 2.0, after all. Lyse at least had a competent cast to buoy her (Hien and Gosetsu did a lot of heavy lifting to make it palatable, and seeing Raubahn taking an active role is always a treat) and mask Stormblood's worst issues but none of it is appears to be present here.

None of the criticism I've seen of Wuk has been related to her physical appearance, as much as I'd love to see less furry shit in games. I'm not to DT yet, but based on all the shit I've been reading from others:

Her personality sucks. She's disrespectful in the Japanese voice acting in ways that frankly aren't close to being endearing. She acts like a fucking moron and dominates all the expansion dialogue to the detriment of all previously established characters that should have been given at least a little chance to shine.

Her storyline and the expansion overall was a tonal shift (again, just going by what others have said- I'm still in HW) and the entire expansion was written in a cheaper, more child-friendly tone. Like one of those shonen animes or whatever.

I'm not looking forward to DT. Which sucks, because ARR and the first bit of HW have been really fun; Characters and themes really drew me in and made me care about the setting, and I'd been hopeful the rest of the game would keep me invested.

There was a minor dust-up about Healers not having much to do, but that changed when people realized shit hurts for the first time in a while. Viper was dumbed down even more because managing debuffs 2hard or something. Black Mage was godawful in 7.0(Yoshi-P went to the store and left the kids unattended), Dark Knight got fucked losing Plunge and combining Delirium and Blood Weapon to make room for Scarlet Delirium(still OP as fuck in PvP), Warrior is still damn strong and Paladin is actually better. Gunbreaker is also a lot more fun. Pictomancer shits out damage to the point it could straight-up steal enmity from tanks(Shadowstride and Trajectory didn't generate it on release). Overall, there aren't too many complaints about the actual gameplay
