TGWTG "Nostalgia Critic" / Doug Walker, Rob Walker, Mike Michaud, Mike Ellis, Holly Christine Brown, et al - The Incompetent Predator-Protecting Upper Management of Channel Awesome, Doug Still Not That Funny

NC not getting why people like a movie for the 1000's time.
Is he just retarded or is he gay and retarded?
It’s just a means of going “here’s why I am reviewing this particular movie.” It’s not that complicated.
For those that didn’t watch it, Doug starts the video explaining that the fatigue/brain fog issues is getting better. He still got it this week but the time between when it hits is getting longer and longer.

If Doug walker shaved his beard. He looks like a better crow than the real faggot starring in the crow remake.

I'm amazed that there's 880 pages on this thread considering all Doug has ever done was be dumb, have one REALLY bad take and never evolve as a content creator.
Most of what gets posted here in recent years are talking about his recent videos or news. Every so often, one of his a-logs will come in and shit up the thread for 10 pages about how Doug is an evil mastermind and that he stole money meant for Demo Reel (there's no proof other than Demo Reel looks like shit so he must've pocketed it)....something which he did well over a decade ago

EDIT: I mixed up Demo Reel with the game show as I thought Demo Reel WAS the name of the game show

It was mostly the game show that got those accusations, but yeah, Doug’s non NC activity has been bomb after bomb.

It's because his disgruntled ex-employees tried to ruin his life.
And because some people refuse to let things die and Doug refuses to close up shop. And because some think Doug is on par with those that get featured on the regular just because he has a thread here.

One of the weird things that happens with Doug is that I am shocked to see him doing a review of a movie because I thought he already had to have done it by now.
A bugs life is one of those movies that I saw a lot when I was a kid but I never remember anything about it.
Antz at least had some balls with its battle scenes.
I mostly remember the game, the different VHS/DVD covers and the polly pocket type toys. The Hopper death scene is what I remember the most about this movie
I remember when I visited Animal Kingdom years ago they had an educational 3D show based around A Bugs Life where they taught you about the importance of bugs in our world. Something I didn't know until I looked it up for this post is that it actually began operation before the film was even in theaters.

A Bugs Life is sort of an odd film in Pixar's history because its the only film from that first decade run of Pixar films that didn't get a sequel (or a prequel in the case of Monsters Inc.), not even having any talks of one to begin with. And it hasn't been overly milked by Disney the way those other early Pixar films have been.

Maybe due to the fallout with DreamWorks over Antz, it probably left a bad taste in Pixar's mouth

That has often been attributed to it. That and getting released in-between Toy Story films, being the second Pixar film releases so sort of being setup for a "sophomore slump" given its spot, and just also the story probably being more hard to follow up with compared to those other Pixar films.

What I find somewhat interesting is that almost from the beginning they seemed to dislike the film. Only a year later in the Toy Story 2 end credit they had that joke where Flick and Heimlich talk the studio into making a sequel only to find out that it is really them getting killed off.

It feels like Pixar really wanted nothing to do with the film and have anything about it attributed to them immediately following its release.

My point was more Casablanca is one of those movies like Citizen Kane, it feels like required watching if you're going to be doing anything with film. Especially for analysis and critique because its so often referenced.

What this tells me is that he either has never seen Casablanca or he didn't really watch it and retain it.
Or like a lot of things he's surface level at best. I don't think anybody has ever suggested that Doug is some kind of genius when it comes to film.

Depends as I could see it not continuing for two reasons.

1. It's forgettable and didn't make the money that "Toy Story" did. Don't forget "Toy Story" made bank. And "A Bug's Life" made the same gross profit on double the budget. That's a misstep on Pixar's part.

2. There's no need for a sequel as the story was now told. "Toy Story" had potential but "A Bug's Life" didn't. You look at other movies they've done like "Up" and "Wall-E". Both of those movies brought in a lot of money. But no sequels. Why? The argument could be made that they said their story and there's no need to continue it.

In the end only Pixar really knows why.

Honestly, I'd say where he does show some excels is stuff when it comes to animation. But, I think that stems from that he said how he has a huge love for it, so I can see him havin' looked more into that stuff.

Yeah, I kinda liked his series he did on the animation samples for Halloween a few years ago.

It's obvious that he doesn't know terminology all the time but he's so genuinely enthusiastic about the colors/shapes/shadows/expressions and he has this appreciation for it that it's difficult (for me) to be really cynical and clown on him when he's watching something he loves and respects.

I'm glad he got to meet Don Bluth. I also love Secret of NIMH. ...Maybe that's why I'm still an NC viewer lol
