Star Wars: Rogue One - Cat Party can't type a fucking title correctly so I had to fix this for him like I do everything

Don't be a dumbass. Disney could cast a Star Wars movie exclusively from Howard Stern's Wack Pack and it would still make $500 million.

I'm happy Disney doesn't own anything I sperg over because I don't know how I'd react to going from 6 Star Wars movies in 30 years, to 30 Star Wars movies in 30 years. I hope I'd give up before they got to the Jar Jar origins story starring a transracial quadriplegic thawed out Neanderthal.

As someone who spergs over both Star Wars and Marvel, I too am unsure about how they'll continue to sustain interest in those properties over the long term without people losing major interest in them. All I can say for now is that I hope that they remain consistently entertaining.

It won't flop because of political correctness, it's just a midquel that has a foregone conclusion. The trailers all focus on the creation of a superweapon (the Death Star) and we all know from IV that it will be created and Darth Vader will rule the galaxy.

Episode I got a lot of umph from the fact that it was everyone's origin stories (even if the movies were inferior) and VII allowed the story to continue without the baggage of the original canon. That said, no matter WHAT the reviews are, it will STILL be a big hit for Disney.

Rogue One doesn't look like my thing, but I appreciate the touches they made to look like the original A New Hope. It does get annoying hearing the progressives cream themselves over a female lead (cough Alien cough) and the ethnically diverse cast. But on topic I think the writer Gary Whitta is a pretty lulzy individual himself. I kid you not his past work is on After Earth and he plans to use this movie to protest Trump.

That sounds fucking amazing actually. I'm down to watch Lord Vader straight up slaughter some rebel scum
I think Rogue One looks pretty bad, but that exact ending would make me go see it.

People are just overreacting, really. Happened with the last Star Wars and it's going to keep happening again and again with a new one coming out every year. It was bound to happen after the franchise got swallowed by the Disney monster.

Remember when Star Wars movies were rare and even the crappy ones still felt kind of special?

I think the idea of side stories for the Star Wars films isn't a bad idea, and even if Rogue One is mediocre it will still probably make a hefty profit. Personally I would have loved to see a Rogue Squadron film or some films set in the Old Republic. The real test is going to be when that Young Han Solo movie comes out.

It makes me a little sick that Disney is just going to start pumping out another Star Wars movie every year now. This is obvious filler to tide people over until Episode 8 comes out next year.

Also, fuckers retconned how the Death Star plans were stolen in the first place. KYLE KATAN GOT THEM IN THE GAMES GOD DAMMIT.

Adding some black people and women to star wars didn't "ruin" it.

What ruined it was Disney throwing away most of the EU and going "lol it's not canon no more" Or while the movies are the only real "hard canon" I liked the EU stories.

Disney ruined star wars with the way they handled it after buying it, not because of PC. PC is only a small reason.

Whitta borders on exceptional. He used to work in the games press and posted on Neogaf. All the shitheads would praise the garbage he wrote for a taste of fame. Then he abandoned the forum when he got the Star Wars job and edited out every slightly critical thing he said about the movies.

I'm looking forward to Rogue One. I think Disney is smart enough to make movies people are interested in. This is going to be the first Star Wars that won't have any Jedi or lightsabers, so it'll be a little more fresh to see how ordinary people handle danger.

tbh I just want a movie where Bothans die to bring people information.

I want to watch them suffer.

Everyone that's ever played Battlefront II wants to see Bothans suffer. Myself included.

There's like at least five EU stories about someone stealing the Death Star plans. Some random Jedi do it in BFII, and a Twi'lek merc steals them in Lethal Alliance. There are others too, including Kyle.

Anyway, yeah, I'm worried about there being too many Star Wars films now. But I am looking forward to seeing Rogue One, it'll be kinda cool to see a less-Jedi-heavy film. But yea, definitely hoping for a Vader massacre.

I don't mind ditching the EU stuff tbh. It can still be cool as its own thing, but trying to remain consistent with all the games and novels is (1) a fools errand, (2) something only a very tiny fraction of the moviegoing public would care about and (3) could actually inhibit telling an original creative story.

To be frank, I honestly think they are quietly gonna ignore a ton of stuff from the prequels as well. I don't expect any talk of the Force being microscopic life forms in the blood, for example; I think it is just going to be the mystical life force from the originals. Which is for the best, imho

Correction: The Empire gave the Death Star plans to Kyle after he threatened to use his Bryar pistol.

Prediction: the Rogue One crew will be turned to the dark side by Vader.

I'm kinda looking forward to it. Just something a little different instead of just rehashing A New Hope like how The Force Awakens did, but let's be honest, they were scared shitless about trying something new after the prequels tried doing something new. And look what happened with that. At least they're solidifying the new canon of the theft of the Death Star plans instead of having a shit load of contradicting EU stories of how the Death Star plans were really stolen. But, of course, the rabid EU fanboys who refuse to acknowledge the new canon are going to be sperging up a storm about how Rogue One never would have happened in the EU, even though it would just become another Death Star plans heist story.

I'm in the camp that The Force Awakens was a bad movie because Abrams is a hack. Yet it made money. I have no idea why.

Rogue One will probably make money, if not as much as TFA. I just hope these other directors Disney hires make better movies.

I remember hearing some vague nontroversy about how this film will be pandering hard to the Chinese by including excessive Chinese-targeted content, since TFA flopped so bad in China. Maybe that will be another area people will complain about once it becomes clear to what extent this pandering is manifested in the film.
