Why is eggnog in the store in August?

It doesn't even make sense, as a dairy product, it expires fast and selling it during a time of low demand means more of the product is going to make absolutely no money.
It is primarily eggs. Is this why eggs are so damn expensive?

Single-issue egg nog poster. The demographic that every political party is trying to coax in.
I have multiple issues. This was just the last straw.

Because it's delicious
Don't get me wrong, I like eggnog at the appropriate time of year, but it's still barbeque season.

Why is Halloween candy in the store in July?
At least candy is a year round thing. If you have kids you can give them 1 or 2 pieces as an appropriate serving size.

I went to the store today and they already had Christmas wrapping paper out. Meanwhile, Halloween decorations were coming out at multiple stores in mid-July. I'm pretty sure corporations are trying to elongate holiday shopping seasons as much as they can get away with, to prey on the average consumerist mindset. What's really funny is these holiday shopping windows are starting to overlap on each other like crazy and the poor workers at these stores can't keep up with the constantly rotating and expiring stock. This is especially apparent at places like Dollar General, whose entire business model is trying to sell as much useless plastic garbage as possible. Cardboard boxes, both empty and full of product, everywhere.

That said, eggnog is tasty af, so I don't even mind in that case.

It begs the question. When the supermarket spoils out solid foods, they just bag 'em and chuck it in the dumpster. But is this also done with the milk? Or does some poor sap have to sit there and empty each bottle into a drain?
