As well they want to crack down harder on legal definitions of words and hate speech whilst giving more money to the people who hate you.

It's about to get much worse but this simmering hatred for the government is not going to go away.

If you’ve got a clannish in group with fanatical adherence to a religion within your society you have three options: allow the to take over, kill them all off or outcompete them. You won’t outcompete them by being functional and nice, evolution doesn’t care. Neither does it care in the moment of the next generation is dumber, more violent and more dysgenic, only that there’s more of them.
Eventually, of course you’ll get outcompeted by someone function and /or mean enough to just kill you all but evolution isn’t really goal oriented like that

100% this. The ECHR has been really shit at defending free speech when cases get to it. It upheld a prison sentence of an Austrian woman who said Mohammed was a paedophile with some spurious nonsense that she should have consulted Muslim scholars who lie about him being a paedophile.

The ECHR’s version of free speech is you can say what you like, unless it annoys the establishment or immigrants.

I was hopeful that we could pull out and have an actual British Bill of Rights but it will no doubt be worse than the ECHR protections and Labour will insist it applies to the entire of Africa and not just British citizens.

As a state, no, not literally secular, but *more* secular.
Compare say, twelfth century England to seventeenth; one is more secular than the other.
Secularism is not binary, but a sliding scale.

I suspect this is why Denmark has gone full 1488. There’s a culture there of the rich living in more normal areas, it’s not absolute by any means, but it’s a small country and they don’t have many gated suburb type developments.
Although Sweden is similar so maybe this theory is rubbish. Anyway I wish starmer’s locale to be fully culturally enriched. It would be a shame to lose the Cotswolds but I think if we concentrated the diversity there for a year or two we’d see movement. Then we could just neutron bomb it and keep the nice architecture.

Sweden has clearly separated areas in the big cities.
Wealth is often a factor, especially when they start pulling stunts like building new developments right next to wealthy areas with large houses and gardens.
This quickly starts a flight effect and the large houses get bought and turned into apartments.

One factor is that with rented accommodation mostly people have to apply and wait until they are eligible to live in particular places, but most people just take what they are offered. So there can be a fairly disparate mix of income levels in an area.
Often people who get sick of living in an area known for drug problems and the clashes between the youth selling them, and can get the means to buy, just buy as soon as they can and get out.

While drugs and crime got a fuck ton better from the early 90s, to the late 00s, they have both got increasingly worse since the arrival of darker and darker people, so white flight is certainly starting to be a thing now.
