At the last debate we were at a Veterans assocation bar for Karaoke night. It was on TV with subs on and people were mostly of a mind that both Trump and Biden were poor choices. Also irritation that Policy wasn't being discussed, people didn't want "Trump is Hitler/ Biden is a commie" on repeat for an hour

But it was notable after 3 years of not really mentioning it. Suddenly it was OK overnight for everyone to acknowledge Biden just isn't really all there. I think the fact he struggled to answer anything (making it impossible to hide) was part of the issue. Ironically the must lucid answer Biden gave was over flipping Golf.

I think Trump won't go to the level he went with Hillary. They were former friends and I think he considered her fair target. I don't think he'll treat Kamala like Biden but I think he knows he's gotta go with Policy. I expect some shit flinging but I hope he avoids getting too deep in it.

This might sound silly, but how did you guys and girls learn about politics, and when did you become conservative?

I spent the majority of my early life holding views that were consistent with classic liberalism. My family was also pretty evenly split politically, with the paternal side very conservative, and the maternal side very liberal (the older ones on the maternal side grew slightly more moderate as time went on, while the younger ones trended more progressive).

Outside of feelings of dislike towards Dianne Feinstein for her anti-2A stances, I was pretty indifferent towards politics up until 2012, when I half-heartedly cast my first ever vote for Mitt Romney. I was turned off by Obama, and thought that Romney’s business background would be an asset when it came to running the country. I remember not being choked up when he lost, though. At that point, I still saw both the DNC/GOP candidates as puppets with the strings being held by the same entity (à la Bill Hicks).

The major awakening came when the HS I attended held a school-wide discussion assembly the morning after Bin Laden was yeeted. This place was far more bleeding-heart leftist than even the extremely leftist college I attended. Anyone could go up to the mic and speak their thoughts during said assembly. Only one person expressed gratitude for his death. The rest of the school lamented the country’s glee at the events, and strongly discouraged celebrating his death. That was the major turning point for me that kicked off a hard, rightward swing that persists to this day.

As far as when my eyes were opened to MSM corruption, it wasn’t during the Trayvon Martin debacle, as others have posted (I wasn’t really paying attention at that time)- it was during the lead-up to the 2016 election, when they went full TDS and pumped up Hillary. That was when I truly realized that the media had zero objectivity.

That's how we all felt when that happened. To add more, a lot of small businesses in that area had Calhoun as part of their name due to location. When the city and dnr changed the name of the place they bullied all the local businesses there and tried to label them as racist unless they changed there names. Like I said before, no one cared that it was named after John C Calhoun. People saw it as being named after a historical vice president and nothing more. People liked the name because it had a nice ring to it and was a nice place to be during the summer. It's not shocking that the same people that got pissy over it's name burned down the uptown district and that part of Lake Street and Hennepin avenue a few blocks further over George Floyd.

I mean, you are technically right but practically wrong. A little over a third of registered voters watched the Trump v. Biden debate, with the slant of people who watched -massively- leaning towards independents. If you are 'undecided', these are in fact watched. Technology has only made it easier to watch either in the moment or sometime after. Now, normally this does drop off hard past the first debate but the expected numbers are actually -higher- for the Trump v. Harris debate. Skewing heavily towards more left-wing viewers.

This is really bad for Harris, because the reason there is such an expected uptick is because she has been utterly barren on her announced policies. greats watches of the left-wing are seeing this as their one chance to actually know what they are voting for. Additionally, while most independents and undecideds viewed the last one... its more or less predicted for everyone who is even vaguely unsure to watch this one for much the same reason.

If she -just- does worse than Trump it is going to be more damaging for her than Biden's apocalyptical debate. God help her if she does as bad as Biden did.
