This is the only design that I truly can't get over.

Outside of being fat, outside of not being fuckable, why does it look like he's wearing random thrifted garbage?

Is it part of his backstory? That he grabbed whatever was laying around in his great-aunt's garage and went out to save the galaxy or whatever? It looks so intentionally amateur that I can't believe it wasn't a design choice to make him "endearingly frumpy" rather than "badass."

All concord heroes look like they are so retarded that they have to wear cushioned clothes. It's not "protect me from mashinegun fire" armor, but "protect me from hitting my face with a door while opening it" armor

Gaming execs want their product to be the next Fortnite (aka generating 25 billion dollars) and when you're chasing that kind of money - an investment of $300,000,000 isn't that significant. They don't understand gameplay feel, character design, matchmaking, etc - they literally just think "We are investing/risking X dollars in an effort to generate Y revenue" and that's it. The pitch to them is probably just "a newer version of <POPULAR GAME/GAME THAT MADE MONEY> but with our spin on it".

I know that’s usually the case but after a few instances of watching shit like hazbin hotel and a few indie animations I have the feeling the sjws are prolific enough to act for themselves, get jobs, and get hired by these people and make thier crappy little passion projects. Since they suck at writing stories they inject thier Ocs into these games. I visited Nintendo of America and saw that most of these people had pride flags and affirming shit in their offices, so when the whole vivian thing happened in Mario ttyd I was not shocked in the slightest. There are a lot of people in these industries that legit love what they do. but god forbid you criticize them oho.

The execs let them do it. if they really wanted to make a lot of money fast they’d just make more dlc for their cash cows which they do and thats how they get all the money.

The execs do not care or know about the product - but even they realize that products have a shelf life. You can release a game, sell DLC for a while, make a sequel, and (now) put it on ice for a while and release a remaster/updated version. A game does not last forever.

There's a much larger discussion around why it's hard to find quality devs (they can't compete with indie for creative control or money) but it's a race to find a new IP. Even Gaming Execs know that not every game is going to be a franchise (aka a Final Fantasy or Call of Duty) and the big players in the space (Sony and Microsoft) are struggling with IP and would jump at a chance to throw money at a successful one.

Concord looks like shit but you never know what's going to be popular. I think Overwatch was always 100% dogshit but enough people liked it to carry Blizzard for a while.

I also think its funny that these 'diverse' games are generally super hated by some major diverse groups: basically all brown and asian men ouside of usa/canada/etc with a mild interest in video games.

I feel like those developers were thinking they were doing all people of colour a favour with this, but instead ive seen concord generally mocked in mexican, south american and indian online spaces talking about it, and the east asians are openly repulsed.
Not to mention the 40 dollar pricetag pricing most actually opressed people out of playing the game, had they wanted to.

I really wonder what the player demographics look like, this game has got to (ironically) have a way bigger % of western (and white) players than other aaa games, right?

Hogwarts legacy is also still selling extremely well globally this year btw and the estimated budget for it was 150 MILLION. And thats probably made over 2 billion by now.

You know, it hasn't happened yet, nobody's openly doing it.

But some cynical number-cruncher is going to start to toy with the idea of provoking game journos some time soon. As long as you thread the needle of not seeming like you deserve the reaction - and these people will overplay it - you can basically get them to signal-boost your game for free. And if it's a good enough game, people will check it out just to spite them, and maybe play it anyway.

This game didn't fail with the design, promotion of LGBT faggotry or the studio pissing off fans by slagging them off, this game died with the reveal trailer.

Whoever thought it was a good idea to have a 5 minute CGI cutscene that gave vibes of GotG FPS with popcorn-flick dialogue, only to rugpull into a hero shooter was fucking retarded. I thought the game looked interesting, then the second I saw it was an arena shooter, I was so pissed off I closed the PSN SoP stream.

If they'd have shown a montage/action reel of badarse/daft shit going on during some arena matches, at worst, people would have thought it was ugly and mediocre, but the game wouldn't be dead.

I remember years back reading an extremely schizophrenic but oddly compelling breakdown of Life Is Strange as the prime example of epigenetic mythology forcibly expressing itself in art against the will of it's author. It cited the Stepdad as being Ares, subduing Mr. Jefferson (Hades), after he subdues Max (Chronos) in her attempt to help Chloe (Demeter) discover what happened to Rachel (Persephone). Amoung other heavy diatribes involving racial coding and heroic tragedy.

The funny thing is that sacrificing Chloe seems the one option that genuinely makes sense.
