Concord - robots with pronouns

You can get away with ugly and fat characters, but not if they're treated as beautiful and healthy at any size!! in-game, or expect / demand the players to do the same.
The real thing you can't get away with is no compelling gameplay at all in a highly competitive field. You can dump $200 lmao lmao $200 fucking MILLION dollars into it but if you offer nothing competitive, people won't pay for it.

This is capitalism, and capitalism is a good thing.

REEEEEEEEE it was FUCKING A WHITE MALES who destroyed our 8 year $200 million work!

Nope, it was just that what you produced sucked and nobody wanted to buy it. They should kill themselves.

I'm pretty sure I already said this but it's baffling they chose this route. For a hero shooter in the year of our lord 2024 to be a $40 buy to play title, but also be a live service... you'd have to give players a reason to jump ship from Overwatch. If they launched Concord, F2P, with seasonal battle passes, right when Overwatch announced that they cancelled the campaign shit, we wouldn't be having this discussion. The wokeshit would be still an annoying thing and the troon devs chimping out on twitter wouldnt change at all. But they'd at least have a stable enough playerbase to justify funding it for at least 2 years.

The fact that Sony didn't even demand it switch to that freemium business model tells me that behind the scenes, shit is an even bigger dumpster fire than we see on the outside. Sony would rather flush $200 mil down the drain than attempt to salvage this into something that MIGHT be able to at the most break even.

Question is: how is this going to impact Sony? No major stock fluctuations, I'm guessing they'll just nuke the studio from orbit and move on to the next thing.

I'd possibly disagree, IF (mandatory IF) the artists were just FORCED to make them abominable. Think of it like if you are a good artist, and your JOB, under risk of firing, is to create fat pooner DAW. You still want a check, so you do it, you hate it, but you do it.
That said, the "professor" lisa brown can get fucked.
The thing is, even if they were forced (as the artists are now claiming) to make the characters gay and lame that doesn't explain the other design issues like complete ignorance of color theory and how boring the core concepts are.

Like take black sniper lady as an example, so DEI made her black, but I doubt DEI decided she had to be in a featureless white poncho with generic robot legs (with individual toes, for some reason) and a backwards trucker cap. Even if you take the DEI away this shit just sucks, especially when you compare it to iconic characters in similar games.

The executive meddling is just a post hoc cope, this was 100% a skill issue.
Of course, I don't really have a problem with ridiculously edgy games. I think they can be kind of amusing.
I don't have a problem with edgy content in games but I do have a problem with games whose entire USP is being edgy just to shift copies. Postal is a fun game with edgy content, Hatred existed purely to offend people so it would sell. Although apparently it worked so who am I to judge.
How does one decline so badly? How do you go from drawing pretty decent fanart of appealing character designs to fucking Concord? These were all from last year!

These are terrible, Asuka looks like she has downs and Morrigan looks like a troon. Heather Mason looks decent but I'm guessing that is a 1:1 copy of official Silent Hill art.

I guess it depends how you are defining artist, and who did what : I'm presuming the character concepts were pushed heavily by professor and perhaps lead artistic director (or whatever) and not the people actually assembling models as their job.

If it was indeed concept art and strict directions to make them lame, I don't blame the mesh / model makers at all.

Another theory (which I find amusing) is minor passive aggressive attempts to make them look lame like that awful cyan coat on the black guy was done as a bitter revenge from woke shit, and because professor is a retarded queer, she couldn't realize obnoxious loud clothes were awful. But generally I think some model makers / animators were AT LEAST competent there, but thats not the same as leads.

Besides, colors and other stuff says just as much on everyone above, because they looked at it before shipping and said "YUP! looks fantastic, ship it". So even if you want to blame the lower level artists, nobody in power complained.

I don't blame anyone on this who just produced what they were given. I'm sure we've all worked jobs where we know what we're doing is stupid/wrong but it's more than our job's worth to try and argue with management.

Concord was a failure at every level of management, but the whole reason you hire an art team is because they're supposed to know what they're doing and correct these mistakes before they make it in front of anyone with the final say. Someone like Jim Ryan isn't going to understand artistic concepts, so even if he thinks something looks dumb he puts his trust in the art director that they know why this is a good idea.

Again, I'm definitely not blaming the lower level artists, because I doubt they had any say in design choices, but there had to be a creative lead who was signing off on these designs and it was their job to at least make sure the foundational principles of design were being followed. That's why I say it's a skill issue: I don't believe you can fuck up this badly on purpose. I think whoever made these designs simply had no idea what they were doing and was probably a diversity hire or Zoe Quinn type.

The black sniper lady is one of the better designs in that cast (not great, but serviceable) becuase I can get the gist of her class by looking, she is a sniper and from the exo leg armor with toe splits (some IRL athletic shoes do this) she is supposed to be very mobile.

She is a relatively easy fix:
  • Remove the hat, her goggles should be the main accessory on her head
  • Add a camo pattern to the poncho so there is more color than white.
  • For the feet have it so the big toe is the only one split instead of every single one.
Honestly I can see her getting recycled into Destiny with some tweaks.

Watching the mainstream gaming press dance around why this faggoty game failed has been hilarious.
Except they always do this. Look back to any woke garbage that failed to the point that they couldn't possibly present it as a success. These sites always come out with their "Why did it fail?" articles, and they never ever mention that people don't like leftist propaganda in their stuff. Or if they do, it's always presented in a manner that tries to pass it off as some sort of "hate campaign that drove everyone away." They are always dishonest. Always.

My guess is they are letting the game run in the background so they can have 100+ hours recorded on it for the memes.
My guess is they're trying to be cool like the people that kept their Halo 2 games running after the servers went offline. Except they are androgynous fucking blob people so they are incapable of being cool, plus it's Concord, so nobody outside their playerbase of <100 people give a shit.

You're not wrong, but the problem is that should have been the starting point, not where they put the pencil down and called it job done. As it stands she just looks like Default Sniper 12 in some random Ubisoft spec ops game like The Division or Ghost Recon.
Goggles are ALWAYS shit Design, fight me.
They're almost always shit design because they rarely are added for a reason. The original Naruto design is a good example of this, Kishimoto added them because he thought they looked cool then used the headband storyline to immediately drop them after the first chapter because they were a pain to draw.

I'm no expert by any means, but if you're sitting down to design a you should ask yourself before adding any unique item or detail, 'why would this character have this?'. If the answer is 'because it looks cool' you are bad at design.

The tranny devs and artists crying on twitter about "real people are gonna lose jobs" etc, we know. If you think you deserve to keep your job after burning hundreds of millions on a complete flop, you're more retarded than I thought. If I fuck up at work I'm done. You fucked up at work, you're done.

lol
From the same people who went out of their way to get people fired for not sucking the trannydick.

Funnily enough, there are 25 works of R34 recorded as of now. Dustborn is the more accurate one to this meme.
Half of them are just shitposts tho, and im pretty sure the other half is just the same 3 images posted like 4 times each

Also, you can get away with them better when theyre only a small part of the cast rather than almost all of it.

The 'fat/ugly' characters in overwatch arent even that bad, but if EVERY female character looked like mei, zarya or ana, with maybe one token sombra, overwatch would've not done nearly as well.
Dva, mercy and tracer are some of if not the most popular characters for a reason.

Games like these need at least multiple skinny (and often pale) waifus if they want a chance to succeed, especially if they wanna crack east asian markets too.
This aint some serious, realistic, dramatic game, its a colourful live service game where you shoot at eachother.
