Not Just Bikes / r/fuckcars / Urbanists / New Urbanism / Car-Free / Anti-Car - People and grifters who hate personal transport, freedom, cars, roads, suburbs, and are obsessed with city planning and urban design

There's a podcast he did with his wife and every time she had anything positive to say about something back in Canada (I remember the Greyhound buses as an example) he immediately shut her down. In it for the money at this point.
A failing marriage will explain a lot of things, his weight gain, growing an unkempt beard, and lashing out at everyone...I hope Mrs. NJB can escape and perhaps get Jason's channels in the settlement.

Someone says that urbanists should be willing to debate their ideas, first reply is an urban planner saying that debate is bad because when they proposed urbanist crap at a city council meeting they got 350 negative comments from locals but none of the "local" urbanists showed up to the meeting:

The thing that urbanists fail to understand is that they're really not a big political force as they think they are. They can ride on other Democrat-led bills and get votes through the cluelessness and corruption that pervades left-wing cities but when push comes to shove they often are floored at the lack of support if they don't have the council packed.

You can see this in even New York, when the congestion pricing got cancelled, and even a "protest" gathered a crowd of mostly tourists. As far as that went, they went and polled 1,500 Democrat voters and found that 50% approved of the delay and 32% opposed it. The city is roughly 80-20 D-R split, which means the actual numbers are even lower, and then when you factor in the suburban areas the number plummets further.

Maybe you're actually just a tiny minority?
I have a feeling that they do understand their lack of support, given how some of them when the chips are down have gone from the usual Our Democracy™ crowing to "we MUST do this AT ANY COST".

Just listen to half an hour of “City Planner Plays” and you get way more urbanism advice that is practical and useful than any number of these anti-car videos. It’s hilarious - the nigger is just playing Shitty Skylines and he brings up more concepts and parties than all urbanist videos combined.

It’s really just mastabatory porn for urban incels.

They're probably used to this feeling by now. Probably even their own family think their ideas are stupid. Though to be fair I somewhat understand the idea of having an unpopular opinion. You just have to be the change you want to see in the world starting with yourself. Unlike themselves who insist that the world must change and not them.

She'll probably take a dividend of his earnings from his channels as a form of alimony. Which I could see might lead Jason to encourage people for the first time to NOT give him money so he doesn't have to give any of his Nebula money to his ex-wife.

No one is using it because the infrastructure sucks:
I can't believe they actually gave them a protected bike lane with a median and they're still complaining it's not enough. You will never please these fags.

As I said before, they should be the change they wish to see. If they want to convince anyone of their way of life at least take the bare minimum effort of getting off your ass to use the bike lane you demanded.

If it came to that I think he'd sooner nuke his channels. He closed and privatized /r/notjustbikes during one such fit, only reopening it as view-only when Reddit administration basically told him that he couldn't keep squatting on it.

It reminds me of that webcomic where the woman starts to accept the tranny's pleas ("Sure, I can use your pronouns, no problem!") before being blown down by every other demand the tranny has. It's the same with people. "Sure, I can add a bike lane, no problem!" is not enough for them. It never is.

As I said before, they should be the change they wish to see. If they want to convince anyone of their way of life at least take the bare minimum effort of getting off your ass to use the bike lane you demanded.

The issue is that these people are rotten to the core. We all have our visions for the world. Closing loopholes to make sure Bankerstein can't launder money through NGOs anymore, stop most of the handouts, and reorganizing a bunch of government entities out of existence would do an enormous amount of good, and most of the smaller issues will start to resolve themselves after that.

Almost all of their fantasies involve violence or threat of violence from the get-go, usually with a flimsy "ends justify the means". You see this a lot in leftist circles, MovieBob might complain about "Nazis" but he's all but outright stated that dissenters should be rounded up and put in camps.

Let's count how many perception checks these cyclists fail in just 14 seconds:
If you acted like that in a driving test the instructor would stop it and instantly fail you.

It's because they assume that people are naturally good natured and won't abuse the system that's going to bring them into a supposed utopia, whereas you assume that people are going to abuse it and as such try to figure how to make it so that certain things are as resistant to it as humanly possible. Their worldview is based on a completely different (and wrong) view of humanity yet they can't even keep up the facade of not being a bunch of malicious cunts.

Well... I've think I've found them complaining about their own ideas.

Now the timings are a bit weird but Lochend Drive is still diverted now so I guess Edinburgh council were just being forward thinking... (or roadworks)

I was like didn't they ban pavement parking?

Yes, yes they did... https://archive.is/ENL9m

The road on google maps, look at all the cars now forced to park obstructing the road...

Anyone from Embra who can comment?

I don't see how they can see people as "naturally good natured"; Jason's defense of the Tyre Extinguishers is "letting people know that SUVs aren't wanted here" (or something like that, I don't remember the exact quote).

Examples of groups "letting people know that they aren't wanted":

Jason just seems ass blasted about the possibility of people profiting from his video even if the chances are 0.0001%, to say nothing of it actually affecting his bottom line. (Seriously, faggot, you still have thousands of Nebula & Patreon paypigs.) He's the same with fans reposting his Mastodon sperging to Twitter.

Sperging over how he released his videos to Creative Commons is really unhinged. In addition to being non-profit and the CC license means you're not able to make money on it anyway, he's always going over how his videos are meant to educate the filthy plebs about cities should be built. It's even more infuriating when he believes that his videos are above criticism.

Well... I've think I've found them complaining about their own ideas.

This is endemic across progressivism, it was progressive policies that decided neighborhood schools were unconstitutional because "de facto segregation" and they wonder why kids can't walk to school anymore.

The minimum parking thing is another cause/effect issue. They fume that wide roads are "subsidized", they fume about street parking, but minimum parking rules were designed to have business owners shoulder the burden of putting in sufficient parking.

Maybe you're actually just a tiny minority?

I mean, elections in cities are largely compromised, especially downballot races. I think we'll continue to see a backlash against bike lanes and medians in cities, because it's easy to be ambivalent and/or apathetic if you reduce a lane by a foot or so to paint a bike lane, it's another issue if a road gets fucked over by some overbuilt bike lane that the true believers will reject anyway because "it's not separated infrastructure".

Let's be honest, this whole tyre extinguishers shit will go on until one of those faggots are shot.
Sometimes these luxury SUVs can be owned by some terrifying people. Coincidentally I was watching that song "Dumb ways to Die" and forgot one of the verses was:
"Scratch a drug dealer's brand new ride".

"So many dumb ways to die🎶"

I don't want to go full "you make money, you shouldn't care if there's content piracy" on him, but NJB is a profitable venture and whatever pajeet-owned YouTube Shorts channels using his content is neglible; besides, YT will usually point out if the audio is used somewhere else.

The fact that he gets pissed off if someone re-transmits his Mastodon posts to Twitter indicates that he's deathly afraid that he's going to say or post something stupid. He's not just a private person; he gives off the impression like he's got a big secret that could ruin his life. Cross-dressing would-be troon or something even darker?
I don't think it's about the money or keeping a deep dark secret. Jason has frequent dumb hot takes and is insecure, so he likes to keep a tight grip on discussions about him. With his own channels and social media he can do that (like scrubbing youtube comments or having a private subreddit). With reposts and archives he can't do that and it drives him nuts as people criticize him and his ideas.

After thinking about it, I think it's definitely his marriage is falling apart. His rancid personality is insufferable and abusive, and his wife is now making the moves to leave him and take him to the cleaners. His weight gain and facial hair is a lack of taking care of himself, his lashing out at everyone and everything (more than usual) is a natural reaction to the stress, and he can't even explain what's going on because that would be showing weakness.

Watching him get into arguments over trivial shit like whether or not saying "an historical" is correct is hilarious. It goes to show if something this dumb sparks a reaction from him just imagine how every other mundane household interaction goes with him. Dealing with someone who has zero idea of compromise gets tiring.

I mentioned before about how he's at best apathetic about his own fans when he told them to stop commenting on his videos because they don't help him monetarily anymore by boosting him in the algorithm. He definitely seems like a guy who is self centered on how something immediately benefits him.

Also I know some cows read their own threads. With Jason it's a bit of a toss up for me. On one hand I certainly know he knows of the Kiwifarms and this thread, however on the other hand he would have a stroke if he read the way we talk about him in such an unfiltered manner. And not in the way of people who are careful to word something to not offend him, but people like us who are actually critical of him.

But he's also a complete asshole too. There was one social media encounter where he bitched about it raining so he couldn't do a video, and when someone made a generous offer to try to get him a better camera, he slapped back. He's the only "content creator" I know of that doesn't even pretend to put on a nice facade.

As amusing as the prospect that this thread is the thing stressing him out, I think he'd probably flip out over the videos being archived here if he's that concerned over being on Wikimedia Commons and the fact that he would drop thousands of dollars to try to get something taken off the Internet.

I would be surprised if there weren't lurkers in this thread that ratted out the presence of Jason's videos on the site.

We archive them here to relentlessly mock, criticise and debunk his smug, insufferable fallacious cherry-picking faggotry, which is fair use. If he were to sue over that it would not go well for him.

Jason doesn't like people stealing his videos:

Is "blackpilled" about the promise of open content licenses (i.e., feels the need to control the flow of information), has spent thousands on lawyers to get something he didn't like taken down. Wonder what it was? 🤔

Jason getting mad about his videos getting "stolen" are so fucking gay. Nigga you make Youtube videos. YOUTUBE. A decade ago Youtubers were considered hobbiests and kinda cringe if you took it seriously. People can still download your videos btw, its real fucking easy. You aren't a bloody televison channel spending a million+ per episode or whatever, you know, actual programming. Jeez.

Jason's video about Taiwan is up.

Jason mentions an old blog he had. For the life of me I can't seem to find it even when searching for the exact text he showed on screen; there's a chance he's scrubbed it from the internet or privated it somehow. If anyone can find it it might be interesting to see if his views have changed or if he's always been a stick in the mud about traffic and didn't just become "radicalized" when he moved to the Netherlands.

Jason insults a country that doesn't conform to his worldviews:
I love Taiwan. It’s a stunningly beautiful country with wonderful people and amazing food. ... And it's the country that made me realize that tea could be so much better than that slop the British make.

Jason outright says one of his old addresses, that doesn't seem wise when he has such a big audience and seems paranoid about people finding him in real life...
We used to live here and I still remember the Chinese for the address: 台北市仁愛路三段41號 Apologies for my terrible accent, I promise it used to be better.

Jason hates mopeds:
One of the challenges of building cycling infrastructure though, is that Taipei is a city of mopeds. They are absolutely everywhere. Around every corner you will find lines of parked mopeds. And at every stoplight you will see a large group of moped riders. Taipei is what Amsterdam would look like if all of the bicycles were replaced with mopeds.

The Netherlands sometimes has problems with moped riders driving too quickly in the bike lanes. In most of the country, the blue-plate “snorfietsen” are allowed to ride in bike lanes, but these are supposed to be capped at a maximum speed of 25 kilometers per hour. However, approximately 100% of all snorfiets riders have illegally removed those speed limiters. Which is why a few years ago, Amsterdam banned all types of mopeds from the majority of bike lanes in the city.

Moped riders definitely present challenges for road safety, because they drive very fast, their movements are hard to predict, and they sometimes also ride on sidewalks and in pedestrian areas. Also, almost all of these mopeds are gasoline-powered, so they are very loud, and there is a constant hum of moped noise on the streets of Taipei.

Jason makes it clear that it can't just be about making more bike infrastructure, it must necessarily inconvenience and disincentivize driving entirely:
It’s safer to walk, and there’s even the first steps towards proper cycling infrastructure. But what was very obvious is that cars still rule Taipei. The majority of public space is devoted to space for cars, there are very few restrictions on where cars can go, and drivers are highly privileged. So Taipei has made some great improvements, but it’s all been done in places that don’t inconvenience car drivers too much. The problem is, I think they’re getting to the end of what can reasonably be done without taking more space away from cars. To improve pedestrian safety, sidewalks will need to be wider, there will need to be more car-free streets, crossing distances will need to be shorter, and traffic lights will need to start prioritizing people walking. Street parking is going to have to be removed, and more will need to be done to prevent through traffic in neighborhoods. More transit lanes need to be built to get buses out of traffic. There will need to be more moped-only lanes, and even entire moped-only streets I think. And proper and consistent bicycle infrastructure is going to need to be built, without making the narrow sidewalks even smaller.

Jason shouts out the Taiwan gays/troons:
Wanhua is a great neighborhood. There’s the Red House Theater, an historic building that hosts markets, exhibitions, and performances and it’s a hub for the Taipei LGBT community.

In Jason's sponsorbux reading (which apparently held up the YouTube release of this video for weeks) he says this and I have to wonder if it was this bit that caused that hold up:
Ground News provides a lot of extra information in a neat and organized way, and I really like how you can see how different news sites report on the same story, like this one about growing tensions between China and Taiwan.

There is an archived version of NotJustBikes.Wordpress.com but it seems to be from a different person, possibly "Micka", and the last post has them MOVING to Nelson, BC in 2016. However, no trace of that URL.

Interesting! That's a helluva coincidence if it is a completely different person, I don't know of many people that would be using the term "livability" in 2016. Not to mention the alcoholism:

In the video he specifically mentions his Taiwan post as being "one of the last posts on the blog" and says that post was from 2011.
