Ahh yeah, this is going to be an annoying character picked up by spammers

Script was most likely written by DEI niggers within NRS that has a sense of comedy and seriousness as comparable as a zoomer, especially with Johnny Cage, who was a washed out Hollywood star. They use the same theme with Cassie Cage as well, if I recall. NRS also overuse age-old movie references just to make it sound "funny" and more modern/in-touch with newfags who only knows MK1 and MK11.

I liked Cage being washed up and struggeling, it perfectly represented the state of MK. I even liked him being quippy. Johnny was always the douche bag of the cast, but his "quips" are only "MEMBER [POP CULTURE REFERENCE]!?" And i still have to find one single person that as far as smirks at this kind of "humor". Like i said, cage perfectly represented MK, but instead of breaking out with a masterpiece and making a Comeback NRS are presenting us with the most milquetoast consoomer slob imaginable. Who else rolled their eyes when they saw the iron man pov?

Please NRS, for the love of god, show SOME creativity! Just once!

The gameplay is fun but too reliant on the current metas of "kameos" (ugh, I hate that word).

For example, Omni-Man was super-mid until they tweaked Sonya and he now gets a free 50/50 using her. Likewise, Scorpion was mid until Ferra was released, and now he's one of the top tiers.

Also, MK1 is designed by people that seem to think that this is an ARPG: you have Reptile disappearing and attacking without breaking his invisibility, Kenshi's Sento sandwich is just him chipping you to death even if you guess the 50/50s and block right, characters like Quan Chi and Ermac can paralyze and immobilize you so that you can only watch as they continue beating the crap out of you... all of these are NOT conventional fighting game elements as they take away the opponent's agency to fight back, which is the core principle of a fighting game.

MK9 was still peak MK gameplay.

Netherrealm is really leaning into their racism for Khaos Rising DLC.

Some people are claiming that Noob Saibot will save Mortal Kombat 1. Yeah no, forced gender swaps on two well liked characters will hurt this game even more. Not to mention the stupid idea that all black women now must sound like monkeys. They even managed to make them look worse in their helmets and try to desperately make them Iron Man. Franchise is all but dead if someone doesn't save it in the next game.

2D and 3D era palette swap ninjas are peak. MK9 is still good as well, as it was the only last true MK in my mind. Pretty much MK is washed out and they are desperate to resurrect their peaked reputation in the 90s.
Whilst I am alright with them having their distinctive unmasked appearances, the ninja part should always retain within them since it is a core part of their memorability.

Before I launch into a little spiel I gotta say; god damn the designs in MK1 are ass. Like the women got it way worse than the dudes obviously (Almost every female outfit literally just looks like random crap sewn together with 0 coherence) but the guys got no sauce either. They just all got twinked up. Even worse, a footfag was definitely on the design team since open toed high heels were unalienable design tenets for all the women. Who the fuck says "Hey, this woman is basically supposed to be a supercop from Outworld. So she's gonna wear 6 inch heels" Fuckin retards.

ANYWAY, It's crazy to me that, in spite of rebooting the timeline again they do literally nothing interesting with it and the phrase "its in our blood" aptly describes how samey everything is. At least in the bridge of MK9-MKX they tried to do interesting stuff. Then ignored it 1 game later and erased it totally as well.

Sub Zero is still evil and gets eviler. Sektor is still the evil cyborg and Cyrax will still be the good one. Shang and Quan are still evil. Shao is still on the bad side of things. Kung Lao is still 2nd banana. Changes that I would consider different ultimately have 0 impact on the plot. Zaterrans exist but they hate Reptile because of his ability to shape shift? Ok. Tarkatans have been reduced to Outworld leprosy? Kinda lame. Reptile and Baraka are good now? k. Mileena is good now? But I liked her being evil so you're basically removing one of my favorite things about her. Random gender swaps? Who fucking cares? It's all surface level horseshit with 0 relevance at the end of the day.

You know in the story when Liu Kang briefly mentioned how Kenshi going blind was basically a canon event, I would've thought there would be some intrigue there that might shake up some alliances but nah. Just lead up to some faggot version of the battle of Armageddon. Not to mention since MK11 this all just feels like Marvel bullshit to me and its only been getting worse. I miss when it was based on martial arts shit like Big Trouble in Little China and Bloodsport. NRS story people have lost the fuckin plot completely. Can't wait for Tanya and Cyrax to be the leads in Khaos Reigns.
