This is a bit of old news since the archived link is included in the OP but the accursed farms subreddit had a few gay furries in it that passed around Figtree's article of his firing of the female designer from his Second Life fursona company. It means he's still known in the community even if Jason wishes to sweep it under the rug.

That steam review made me take a look at his steam profile. 1/3rd of all reviews for his game are non english reviews and I came across a polite Japanese review here. This review makes the same mention that the small youtuber makes at 4:29 of that video of the game almost putting him to sleep. It's bad game design if two people in different parts of the world (the youtuber had a heavy accent of something) can both find the same problem in your game.

This is interesting, you have to be logged in to steam to see but you can view his post history on the steam forums.
He was really active in December of 2023, posting almost every 4 days. But then nothing. He didn't update the game or check bug reports for months at a time. He did a week ago but only to close threads.


And then when called out on his game having such a slow update cycle he posts this:


Found that in November of 2023 he made comments to russian gamers saying "Send me an email and I'll gift you a copy for free." This was reposted on russian gaming sites with TikToks and the like. But notice how his reply is the exact same sentence to each steam thread.

Because his content is short form, a 30 second vid from his stream saying he'll give a free copy to russian gamers would obviously gain traction in their community. He claims he received around 3,000 emails.


Other than that, he has 26k hours in stream avatars. That's 3 full years, so 6 if you go 12 hours a day.

I've been to a couple that were paid but they were in person, and you got free food, drinks and places to rest. They also had real prizes for winners. Of course it would be mental to pay for a online only event.
I stopped doing it because it's stupid to burn your weekend only to go to work on monday. Game Jams are only useful to "meet people".

I decided to check his dev stream today and found out that he was working on his 30-player Minecraft server ( a side project with no revenue) the entire time. The only 2024 update to his "magnum opus" was a an April Fools meme post and he still has the nerve to tell the steam consumers that the game is being "worked on." The game jam submissions by his fans are more feature complete than his game.

Got a bit of a grim update today.
Might not turn out grim though!

Finn and Felix are two rescue ferrets that came to us a few months ago.
Both are around 7 years in age and Felix is in particularly poor health.

Finn has heart disease, lymphoid hyperplasia in his neck, and dental issues.
We're not sure what the cause of the LH is but it's effectively a big lymph node in his neck and it wasn't responding to antibiotics.

Felix has heart disease, adrenal carcinoma on his right gland impinging on his Vena Cava, and a severely enlarged spleen.
Bit of a recipe for disaster but he was doing just fine.

A few days ago we found both of them suffering from Hyperthermia.
In easier terms they had overheated and were in the middle of dying from heat stroke.

We triaged them and found that they were spiraling out so we rushed them to an Emergency Vet that we've worked with in the past.
We've had some ups and downs the last couple of days and Finn was doing better but Felix was not.
When ferrets suffer heat stroke the internal lining of their digestive system sloughs off and it's a hell of a fight for them to get back to healthy.
This isn't going to be easy.

Today we did a final meeting to determine if Euthanasia would be a more humane option for Felix as he was in pain and his levels were crashing.
We opted for final blood work before making a permanent decision and found that his levels are moving in the right direction now and by a significant amount.
He may look really rough but if his system is recovering then there is a chance he makes it.
During this meeting Finn started coughing and was immediately put on oxygen. Both get to stay at the vet for now.

Now to investigate how this happened.

Firstly they were in the enclosure displayed below.
This is a minimal setup with low bedding and a large bin for them to use which is easier for elder ferrets like this.
They were checked 5 hours prior and their thermometer was reading and responding correctly.
This setup may seem sparse and small but it's the correct setup for ferrets during their sleeping hours.
Their playtime is in the main room that you see on stream and has a very large open space to run and play in with a number of toys and enrichment zones.

The room is temperature controlled by a primary AC system and a backup AC system to keep it at ~60-65F at all times.
Ferrets have trouble regulating their body temperature above ~80F so this is essential for keeping them alive and happy especially with older ones like this.
This system was functioning normally during this.

Bringing all of this up to the veterinary her feeling is that Felix likely suffered from a seizure either due to his enormous spleen or a potential undetected insulinoma case.
We do check Glucose levels monthly for all of the rescues but insulinoma is still possible as it can onset at any time.
A seizure will absolutely set a ferret to a dangerous temperature and in an environment where they are cuddling or have bedding this is a possible outcome.
Considering that and the setup we have we feel this is the most likely cause.

We don't really have a system change in mind to avoid this in the future if it was caused by a seizure there isn't much we can do.
The best option here is to setup more video monitoring in the rescue going forward so that's the plan for now.
Might take a bit to get it all working but it may help identify things like this before it goes sideways.

With all of that in mind right now the two little ones are fighting for their lives and we're hoping they make it through.
