It's not hard to stumble through Japan as a dumb American. Don't act like a retard, use your phone to communicate, point at food you want and use the American power of speaking English louder to do what you have to do. Their culture is sort of geared toward pointing people in the right direction so if you do something wrong they'll politely correct you. I went a couple years back and I just wondered around and got into fun conversations with Japanese people who could speak English. Their baseball games are really fun to watch.But, but....he belongs there.
He feels so peaceful (while on a holiday).

I'm not really sure what he considers flags for him belonging there. He barely speaks the language and does not have the heritage. Liking Japanese food and basing your whole personality on a Bing Bing Wahoo machine in not candidacy for citizenship cheebs.
My point is that Japan is travel on easy mode.
