Zoomers Can't Read

They're also absolutely terrible at math but that's a completely different rant.
Math is like going to the gym for your brain. It feels like it's so easy to lose gains without regular mathing which is typically unpleasant. I've got a piece of paper that certifies I technically at some point knew integral and differential calculus, but if someone puts a gun to my head I'll be praying faster than finding the area under a curve.
I thought it was mostly millennials who got into homostuck.
I'd say the very end of the millennials/very beginning of the zoomers. If you say homestuck appealed to high schoolers and it came out in 2009 and ended in 2016, you'd be left with the 1991-2002 crowd at the oldest and youngest respectively.

Heil Gen Z, Heil Gen Alpha, Heil Hitler

While watching this Vtuber laugh at dumb people, I can't help but notice the amount of melenation these people have, which was not the case with earlier gotcha videos. It used to be when they made these kinds of videos, we'd see a lot of dumb White people. Sure, there are White people in the video, but not as many.
How are you watching a Vtuber and passing judgement on other people? I’m pretty sure there’s a Bible verse about that… something a log in your eye.
Also, the interviewer saying "yes" to end the conversation. He's clearly doing it to avoid chimp-outs. I might be misremembering, but these videos would show the guest the real answer and they'd have a laugh afterwards.
He says yes for comedic effect, you just don’t get the joke. Showing people the real answer was funny when John Oliver was interviewing your aunt, it’s not as funny when a random YouTuber is interviewing a random 19 year old ditz.

Yup, the bulk of them can't. Not in the sense that they're illiterate. No, they just don't have the attention span for books of any length. Mind you, for a chunk of the population that was always the case no matter what the generation. Now it's just... massive. And those that are able to read... they mostly read the literary equivalent of goyslop.

it is not just reading. ive noticed that zoomers are illiterate when it comes to pretty much anything that is 'before their time.' you show a zoomer a popular movie from the 80s and they act like this is some lost ancient text. it's like bro, how have you not heard of terminator (just as an example) the same is true of music, tv shows, cultural events, political movements, etc. zoomers are about the least knowledgeable generation when it comes to anything which happened before they were 5.

I had some really patchy writing and grammar skills when I was younger. But I found being on forums and having people constantly call me an illiterate faggot actually helped me get to shit together better than any school teacher did.

same. i was even worse at than i am now. what got me to be better was i had a few people i used to talk to on facebook years ago who finally got sick of it and told me, some bluntly, some gently, how bad i was at it. it hurt my feelings and bruised my ego, but it did get me to actually pay attention to my writing and how terrible i was at communicating.

same. i had to do all that while at college for my degree. i passed all my math classes and was able to do that stuff. but since i haven't touched any of it since, i doubt i could even pass a calculus 101 test at this point.

The solution is simple.

Starting at age ten, kids are annually locked in a cell with a PC that only runs Morrowind. They're only let back into polite society once they achieve the designated amount of progress in any portion of the game they see fit and cap it off with a written report. The required progress increases annually, beginning with character creation that they must justify based on build. If they can't read well enough to accomplish their annual goal within the allotted time frame, they get catapulted to Africa with the rest of their kin where they belong.

Skills like calc falling off are normal since you don't use them often (or ever) but unfortunately that's way more advanced than the sort of math I was thinking of: times tables, the basic properties of division and the basic understanding of modulus you need to understand that 2PM is 4 hours after 10AM. The sort of math you absolutely can't avoid in day-to-day life.

I remember hearing the same about zoomers, aka "gen zyklon" 10 years ago.
There's still a lot of far-right zoomers. The "de-radicalized zoomer" narrative just gets astroturfed more. I think the same thing will happen with gen alpha; a large minority of retard looksmaxxers raised on peterson and tate, with a good chunk of them going down the incel-to-simp pipeline and becoming safer for the establishment narrative.

The problem is that all the books written for kids suck, especially for boys. No real conflict, violence, struggle, growth, or humor. The solution is simple enough, you just need to get them older books or books not written for kids in particular. For actual tots, I recommend comic strips like garfield.

Peterson and Tate are not role models regardless of how sandbagged they got in MSM.

The problem is books with violence and adventure lose badly to comics, anime, and TV since writing combat in an interesting way is much harder than showing it. Even the decent ones didn't age that well and would be pretty tame by the standards of today.

Sold a Story is a 2022 podcast about this. Reading curriculums for young students have had a tug-of-war between emphasizing phonics or emphasizing “whole word“/“whole language” approaches for decades. From the start of the millennium a lot of the curriculums really shifted away from phonics for their earlier grade levels. The short of it is that is a large part of why we’re at where we are now.

The best solution to this is to read with your child and to teach them or help them if they can’t or find it difficult.

Have you considered the Orthodox Church?
No, but I know there is an Eastern Orthodox church in my town. I had ONE Eastern Orthodox great grandpa that I know of who died before I was born, but other than that I have had no Eastern Orthodox influence in my life unless you count me reading the book Russian Fairy Tales, compiled by Alexander Afanasyev, which has Eastern Orthodox themes in them plus twice reading Sergei Zenkovsky's Medieval Russia's Epics, Chronicles, and Tales, which includes Eastern Orthodox writings.

I would describe my own religious views as KJV Bible-based Christian, though I am not Baptist, nor am I Calvinist in any way. The church I go to is an hour away from my home, and I drive that far every Sunday because it's the closest thing I have found remotely near me to what my Christian views are.
