Final Fantasy XIV - Kiwi Free Company

I chuckle a little when I see people saying we're doing the same thing in Living Memory. Bruh, we're just shutting down a dead MMO, not committing genocide
These are the same people who think it’s cruel when you kill NPC’s in video games.
Which explains exactly why they take the stance they do tbh.

They're formed parasocial bonds towards characters like G'raha and Estinien even though they're not real.

When 14 dies and it's time to be shut down, you think they're gonna just be chill with it?
I think due to the nature of FFXIV being a 2nd life MMO, they’ve completely disconnected themselves from reality to the point where they treat these characters like they’re real people. Must explain the trans pipeline.

Yeah everyone seems to miss the part in big flashing letters where they say "NONE OF THESE PEOPLE ARE ALIVE THEY ARE DIGITAL COPIES OF MEMORIES GIVEN FORM." And that's why them running around doing dipshit errands to learn about them is so fucking pointless and why everyone that isn't huffing Wuk Lamat's farts hates that entire part of the story (minus what little closure Krile and Erenville get.)

They also require souls to keep going. Even if they were fully 'alive', they'd still have to go.

It's always funny seeing people on twitter with their commissioned art of them and emet selch smooching, meanwhile all I can think of when seeing that is when emet says "I don't consider this murder because I don't think you're alive" as he attempts to genocide the first for the second time.
Some people are more than fine with Emet Selch's murderous inclinations to a disturbing extreme, I've come to discover.

I have seen at least one individual make a NSFL gpose of their female character and Emet Selch post-coitus, covered in blood, with two other character's implicitly dead bodies beside them (the creator made sure to tag each person's handle in order to credit the use of their models as "corpses".) And while I could probably very easily look this back up because I showed another friend that post so that we could both gawk at it with horror, I really do not want to have to go digging for it again for reference's sake. I will note, however, the post seemed to have gotten a fair amount of traction the first and last time I saw it.

I really do not like this playerbase sometimes.

It's like every time I think I've got a grasp on how fucking degenerate the playerbase is I find out some new horror going on out there while I'm just trying to do fun quests and fight monsters. :(

- Memories are integral part of a soul, except when they're not.
- If the copy memories are not real, then the all the drama of the last section is pure masturbatory drama that means nothing.
- Ancient civilization had the blueprint of eternal life with Otis, but they chose the unsustainable system instead.

The first 3/4ths of DT might have been more boring and annoying, but the last segment is just a retarded mess from every angle.

I wonder if Yoshida is gonna read chat on the next LL like he usually does. I wonder if they will address controversy in any way.

Did the thread title just get changed?

I need Soul Aether. Yes, it has to be Aether from Souls. Nevermind the fact that Voidsent have been seen being perfectly fine after consuming Aether that isn't from Souls in Post-EW's MSQ.
I just need it, ok? I need to genocide your shard because of reasons!
Nevermind the fact that Entelechies who are capable of living without ANY AETHER AT ALL exist!

Is it really a crime to genocide a bunch of degenerate coomers ERPing as 20 different flavours of furries?

Yeah, didn't think so. One red moon was not enough. Seven umbral calamities were not enough.

If FFXIV was a CRPG I'd have picked the genocide ending, know what I'm saying?

Shutting down living memory was a net positive for two reasons:

1. That plan was unsustainable and would only lead to omniversal death.
2. Sphere is a fucking annoying cunt so fuck her.

Good enough reason to snap them out of existence if you ask me.

Sorry mate, Hiroi forgot about all that.

ngl I hate the closure Erenville gets as well, it feels like a complete waste of his character. They spend the entire expansion building up a complicated relationship with his mother by him not using his birth name, travelling to Sharlayan at her suggestion, being initially reluctant to search for the City of Gold like she did, etc.

Then, after he sees his homeland get lightning-bombed, his village abandoned and in ruins, he meets her again ins robot form where she tells him that she's still alive only to drop it on him that she's essentially a ghost in a computer database and asks her to pull the plug on him.

It would've been really cool to see a realistic reaction from Erenville, actually doing a 180 from his normal calm demeanor and very understandably exploding at her for "deciding everything by herself and disappearing again"; not to say Cahcuia didn't have justifications or that she's a terrible mother or anything, but this was the climax of Erenville's arc and he barely starts arguing with her before giving up and doing everything she wants. The only possibly compelling moment in the entire expac and they let it drop like a wet fart.
my boy deserved better

Husband and I just cleared Tower of Zot.

This is easily on my list of favorite dungeons, no question. The boss fight was a blast; Took us a handful of tries. We had so much fun!

EW's pacing is a little funky, as others told me to expect. But the story's been so solid that, honestly, I haven't really minded. Lots of little slice of life moments to add flavor (touring Sharlayan with the twins, Estinien being assaulted by pajeet alchemists, having dinner with the crew after the tower, etc). We're both loving the expansion so far. Hope the rest is as good as the start has been.

All the dungeons in EW are pretty good, the only complaint I had was a section in the level 85 dungeon that was cool the first time, kinda annoying on subsequent runs when all I really care about is smacking things as quickly as possible.

I don't want to keep spamming up the thread, but I do want to say I'm very satisfied with how they handled our arrival in Garlemald. I was worried it'd be an easy sunshine and rainbows/hearts and minds thing, but no- This is suitably grim.

From the civilians who'd rather fucking kill themselves than let us repair their heaters, to the random soldier NPCs who'd served under Gaius at the Praetorium wishing death on us for killing their friends by the dozens, to the based imperial commander who (rightfully so) points out that even if they work with us now there's zero chance the political bodies of Eorzea won't pass up the chance to put Garleans in their place now that the tables have turned.

This is how it ought to be. It would have been incredibly disappointing if our arrival had been met with quick friendship and forgetting of differences. That's something the story should make us have to slowly earn.

Hmm...originally I was going to give up Ninja but now that I know I can wear unique Ninja glamor even with shared gear, I'm thinking about picking it up again. Although I haven't heard many good things about Ninja.
I'll probably play anyway, I care more that the job is fun and less about how meta it is.

I know this game's full of degenerates but don't fedpost when you're with randos.

Honestly as far as job complexity goes, NIN is one of the ones that actually still plays pretty well.

Zot is a really cool dungeon tbh. The bosses all feel suitably dope. Especially the second one with the disguise and timestop mechanics.

Honestly. I feel like the stuff in Heritage Found and Solution Nine might have been the peak of the expansion. If extended out, not paced like total ass, and Sphene was made to be a better character. It probably would have held up.

The more I tank the more I hate people, maybe tanks are the retail workers of FF14. I've personally seen DPS run ahead, in the middle of a fight mind you, and die just so they trigger more aggro. Healers refuse to let go of the single damage spell they got until I am down to 10% hp. Hell I've seen healers themselves die to roomwide aoes because they wanted to get the extra damage in. I mostly WHM as healer and the moment I can cast something that's not Glare 3 I cry tears of joy. As soon as my Gunbreaker is 100 I am leaving the leveling of the other tanks last, because this is painful. I have multiple people in my FC who are deathly afraid to play healers when it's far less stressful than any of this.

I'm a Tank main that hates playing Tank and hates healing despite the fact that healing isn't hard (most of the time).

Your biggest mistake is leveling Gunbreaker as your first Tank. You should level Warrior instead, that way you can play 90% of most content with your other party members just being there to help speed up dungeons with minimal effort on your part.

The amount of times I've hard carried a piece of 90+ content with the entire rest of the party being dead has made me start going "Warrior is fucking stupid" in party chat to lampoon the fact that I really just did spend about 5-10 minutes solo'ing a boss with no danger to myself whatsoever.
