• "Senator Vance, please explain to the women out there why you hate them when you call them childless cat ladies?"
• They will try to bait Vance into criticizing Walz's military service and flip it to make Vance look bad
• Walz will lose his temper keep getting visibly out of control, and praised in the media afterwards for being so "passionate" and "energetic"

Another factor is this is a huge expansive strike, 10s of thousands of employees and several major ports spread across several states, I don’t think Biden can shut this down easily if they resist, not unless he wants to arrest a whole fuck load of people, which will bring even more heat.

Let's just not have any laws at all, since in 5000 years of civilization, no set of laws has ever made crime completely vanish.

There is no reason to have laws that cannot possibly accomplish their intended effect and have huge negative side-effects. In the early 20th century there were no drug laws whatsoever in the US (heroin and cocaine OTC) and 1% of the population were addicts. Today the addicted population is still at least 1% if not more, but unlike in 1900 we now have massive criminal syndicates with power rivaling nation-states waging guerilla warfare across the Americas. We now have no-knock warrants, laws against "fortifying" your home, civil asset forfeiture (thanks Biden) and more Constitutional violations. Alcohol prohibition was tried, it empowered the Mafia and encouraged people to drink harder alcohol (easier to hide and transport). It did nothing at all to reduce alcoholism.

Jailing murderers reduces the number of murders and it doesn't fuel the rise of "murder cartels" that buy off entire governments so they are allowed to commit murder. The only way I can imagine even coming close to winning the drug war would be to completely abolish the Constitution and install an absolute dictator who could lock up all the crooked politicians, judges, DAs and bankers who profit from drugs without a trial and use warrantless surveillance to jail every single dealer.

In a society with representative government and the rule of law it will never work. Even with strict federal laws against drugs, there are enough people who enjoy them that they could lobby and pay off government bodies not to enforce the laws. See the "sanctuary cities" opposing immigration enforcement and the "2nd amendment sanctuaries" opposing gun grabs. The reason the feds let WA and CO get away with state MJ legalization in the first place is that they knew it would be an unwinnable battle if they tried sending armies of FBI agents in to bust the dispensaries.

I like how the overall mentality is how you can differentiate Vance from Ellis despite sharing the same background.

JD Vance came from bumfuck Ohio and had a pull-yourself-by-the-bootstraps line of thought that helped him never forget where he came from and the difficulties of people like him, thus working on stuff like proper work and treatment for underprivileged Middle Americans. His book exposed those problems and got a decent film adaptation, and showed him as perfectly in touch with what really affects the disenfranchised average joe.
